Berserk God of War

121: Chapter 121 Waiting for the Right Moment 121: Chapter 121 Waiting for the Right Moment The entire army of six hundred thousand soldiers was stunned; this young woman was terrifyingly powerful, as she had effortlessly slapped Commander Fan.

“Lord Fan…”

Two Deputy Commanders, along with some high-ranking generals, rushed forward, anxiously helping Fan Zhong to his feet.

Princess Die Lian on the city walls acted as if she had done something trivial, still fixing her gaze on Sikong Jing.

Then, she pointed at Fan Zhong.

“Sikong Jing, you actually put forward this piece of trash as a human shield, a waste who can’t even take a slap from me.”

“If that’s also part of your strategy, then I, Xia Dalian, will take it.

I am curious to see how you plan to rescue the people of the Jin Sect.”

In Princess Die Lian’s eyes, Sikong Jing hiding within an army of six hundred thousand and putting up a worthless Fan Zhong as the leader was likely a cunning ploy, which she directly exposed there and then.

However, Sikong Jing felt somewhat helpless.

I really didn’t want to stand out; could you please stop targeting me?

Forget it, whatever she says goes.

I’ll remain silent.

Fan Zhong, on the other hand, covered his face as he stood up, roaring at Princess Die Lian, “Is it so strange that I, from the Heaven Realm, can’t catch a slap from a Transcendent Strong Person like you?

Could Sikong Jing, who is merely at the Peak of the Dark Realm, withstand your slap?”

He was livid.

This was meant to be an important moment to inspire the entire army, and now he had lost all face.

Fan Zhong was displeased.

Why should Sikong Jing be able to take her slap?

“Worthless!”

And all that Fan Zhong received was the cold dismissal of two words from Princess Die Lian.

Sikong Jing could use the collective strength of one hundred thousand soldiers to withstand the assassination attempt of a Transcendent expert, so why couldn’t he handle her attack?

He, Fan Zhong, had six hundred thousand soldiers at his command, and yet she had slapped him.

If that wasn’t being worthless, what was?

“Soldiers of Xia Country, heed my command—block the city gates, slay anyone who approaches.”

Suddenly, Princess Die Lian issued a strict order, then turned and left the city walls, vanishing from sight.

The word “worthless” left Fan Zhong reeling, nearly spewing a mouthful of blood in reverse.

He bellowed at the city walls, “Xia Country’s little wench, I’ll show you right away who’s really the worthless one.”

Saying so, he then fiercely turned to the six hundred thousand-strong army and shouted loudly, “Where is Sikong Jing?”

Sikong Jing stepped out, “Present.”

“I now order you to feed the battle horses the crazing drug again and charge the city gates,” bellowed Fan Zhong.

To everyone’s eyes, the previous charge of one hundred thousand battle horses at the city gates was because they had been given the crazing drug.

And Sikong Jing, of course, wouldn’t reveal that it was the work of the Master of Ten Thousand Beasts.

Instead, he tacitly agreed.

With a flash in his eyes, Sikong Jing solemnly said, “Lord Fan, that method is no longer effective.”

“Why?” Fan Zhong stared, asking.

Sikong Jing pointed at the several large demon beasts atop the city walls and responded, “The people of Xia Country are not fools; they wouldn’t let us repeat the same trick.

They have already prepared Heavenly Realm Demon Beasts to intimidate the battle horses.”

“If we feed the battle horses the crazing drug again, then the result would be our own destruction.”

He was the Master of Ten Thousand Beasts, but he was still just an undeveloped youngster.

If he were to trigger the bloodline to drive the battle horses again, the first to go mad would definitely be the several Heavenly Realm Demon Beasts on the city walls.

They would come down in a frenzy and viciously devour him.

Staring hard, Fan Zhong also understood the high-level suppression Heavenly Realm Demon Beasts had over the battle horses, especially the crazed ones.

They were left with only their instincts; they would fear the higher-level beasts and thus become chaotic.

“What do you suggest we do to take the city?”

Fan Zhong was so confident because he believed with the mad horses charging, victory was assured.

I hadn’t expected to be seen through by Xia Country, and for a moment I was at a loss for what to do.

The Transcendent Strong People of Xia Country guarded the city gates, and in such a confined space, having a large number of troops was virtually ineffective.

No matter how many people there were, as long as they entered the city gate, they would be blasted out.

Sikong Jing raised his head and smiled, “We should attack the city using the conventional methods.”

Instantly, Fan Zhong asked in astonishment, “Would that work?”

“Lord Fan, I am merely a Jianghu person, offering suggestions based on intuition,” Sikong Jing shrugged and replied.

Having said this, he then retreated back into the ranks.

Fan Zhong’s face underwent drastic changes, feeling uncertain in his heart, but having just been ridiculed as useless and having been slapped in the face, coupled with a huge declaration made, not attacking would mean losing all face.

With this in mind, Fan Zhong bit his lip and ordered, “Alright, all soldiers, charge and attack the city.”

The so-called conventional siege encompassed encircling the entire Yanyun City with soldiers, and using siege ladders and other equipment to scale the walls.

Following Fan Zhong’s command, a six-hundred-thousand-strong army began to set up siege ladders, deploying various siege engines in their attack.

As for the breached city gates, Fan Zhong naturally also sent people to continually assault them.

Not seeking to break through, but to wear down the strength of the Xia Country experts within the gate.

Inside Yanyun City, within the city tower.

“A conventional siege, was that the advice given to the Commander of the Yunzhou Battle Mansion by that Sikong Jing?” Princess Die Lian raised her delicate brows slightly upon receiving the report, and spoke softly, “Could it be that I overestimated him?”

This kind of conventional siege was easily crushed by Xia Country’s powerhouses, one by one.

As long as a six-hundred-thousand-strong army didn’t surge up the wall all at once, slaying them would be like slaughtering chickens.

And ordinary soldiers from the Bright Realm certainly couldn’t scale the walls, they could be blasted down with True Qi alone, crashing into pieces.

After pondering briefly, Princess Die Lian said in a soft voice, “No matter what, keep a close eye on Sikong Jing.”

Towards Sikong Jing, a denizen of the Dark Realm, Princess Die Lian harbored deep hatred coupled with considerable wariness.

After several thousand Xia Country’s main force retreated back into the city the previous day, she once again led the attack on Tianlong Villa, but as she expected, their momentum had been broken, therefore, even after battling another day and night, they still hadn’t taken it down.

The experts of Great Shang from within Tianlong Villa fought like they were on a stimulant, killing like madmen.

That person suspected to be Sui Yu even ridiculed her, saying she couldn’t even defeat the Dark Realm.

Therefore, when Princess Die Lian heard the report that the Yunzhou Battle Mansion was assembling a six-hundred-thousand-strong army to attack the city, she couldn’t help but come out and taunt Sikong Jing, as her pride was higher than the sky—how could she tolerate such a failure?

In any case, during this battle, they had to be wary of Sikong Jing.

Outside the city, siege engines were still being prepared when Ah Hu asked, “Brother Sikong, would this work?”

Sikong Jing’s eyes narrowed slightly, he instructed, “Tell our hundred thousand soldiers secretly that they should try to survive during the assault and feign death among the corpses, and wait for my command.”

At these words, Ah Hu and Old Zhang looked at each other, then quickly took their leave to carry out the order.

There was only one outcome for a six-hundred-thousand-strong army attacking the city in the conventional manner, and that was complete annihilation.

But what Sikong Jing wanted was to seize an opportunity, a chance to lead a hundred thousand troops into the city.

He had his own plan.

At this time, Sikong Jing suddenly felt several gazes focusing intently on him and muttered inwardly, “The female leader of Xia Country really is troublesome, she’s truly set her sights on me.”

If he was targeted and made any move, the enemy would definitely respond at the first opportunity.

However, on the surface, Sikong Jing showed no sign of anything unusual, remaining motionless, quietly waiting.
