Berserk God of War

132: Chapter 132 Brother Jing is Dead 132: Chapter 132 Brother Jing is Dead Sikong Jing closed his eyes deeply, and it took him a while to regain his composure.

Regardless, it was good news that Sui Yu had not been exposed.

Next, he announced to the one hundred thousand soldiers and people from Jin Sect that they could return home, and they all cheered excitedly.

Then, Sikong Jing led the one hundred thousand soldiers out of the Dark Dragon Mountain Range…

As for the people from Jin Sect, Sui Yu made the arrangements.

On the way back, fifty thousand people separated from Sikong Jing and returned to Qingyun City, and another twenty thousand returned to other cities in Yunzhou.

Sikong Jing only led thirty thousand people back towards Yunye City.

The road was even more fraught with bandits, among them many soldiers from Xia Country, making the whole of Yunzhou a mess.

Wherever Sikong Jing’s thirty thousand soldiers went, there was a trail of blood and corpses.

He was anxious to return.

…

Yunye City, City Lord Mansion.

Su Yuexi stood anxiously at the mansion gate, her face pale as paper beneath the scarf made from the fur of the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrel.

Suddenly, she saw a group of people walking out of the City Lord Mansion, led by the corpulent figure of the City Lord, Duan Chengshan.

Su Yuexi hurriedly rushed forward and asked, “Lord City Lord, have you received any news about my Brother Jing?”

It had been over twenty days, and there had been no news about Brother Jing.

More terrifying was that the Xia Country Army, millions strong, had broken through the border battle cities of Yunzhou more than half a month ago.

Since the news of the Xia Country Army’s invasion reached her, Su Yuexi had visited the City Lord Mansion daily to inquire about Brother Jing, but the response she always received was: no news yet.

It was a new day, and Su Yuexi came again to inquire.

Duan Chengshan’s expression turned cold, and he stared at Su Yuexi before suddenly shouting angrily.

“What time is it now?

And you’re still asking about such an insignificant matter?”

“Didn’t you hear the shouting outside the city?”

“The bandits mixed with Xia Country’s troops have started to attack the city.

Don’t you know that Yunye City is in imminent danger now?”

After speaking, Duan Chengshan pushed past Su Yuexi and rushed towards the city wall.

Su Yuexi’s eyes reddened, how could Brother Jing’s life and death be insignificant?

Clenching her fists tightly, Su Yuexi was at a loss and could only shamelessly chase after Duan Chengshan to the walls of Yunye City, where her pupils shrank.

She saw a squad of tens of thousands of bandits tightly surrounding Yunye City, all of them sneering incessantly.

“Lord City Lord, what should we do?

Yunye City only has less than five thousand troops left,”

A guard officer asked in alarm, his expression filled with panic.

Chou Ye had taken thirty thousand City Guards to support Yanyun City, leaving Yunye with less than five thousand junior soldiers.

If it had been just ordinary bandits, they might have been able to hold them off, but those mixed in were elite troops from Xia Country.

Duan Chengshan’s face darkened to the extreme, then he suddenly looked at Su Yuexi beside him.

“Quickly go get your father.

After that, I’ll send someone to Yunzhou City to inquire about your Brother Jing’s situation,” he said.

Instantly, Su Yuexi opened her mouth and, without any hesitation, ran home.

“City Lord, why not tell this young lady from the Su Family the news that the criminal died?” one guard officer asked.

Ten days earlier, Duan Chengshan had already learned that Fan Zhong’s six hundred thousand army, including the thirty thousand from Yunye City, had all died under the iron cavalry of Xia Country, but he had not told Su Yuexi.

Upon hearing this, Duan Chengshan gave a cold laugh, “Su Yuexi grows more beautiful by the day; I promised my son, Duan Chun, to get him a beauty.”

At this remark, the guard officers were stunned.

“If she knew her criminal husband was dead, it would be too troublesome if she sought to kill herself in despair,” Duan Chengshan said indifferently.

“Besides, that criminal was married off by the Lord of Yunzhou, and he has a rather special status.

It wouldn’t be good if I secretly sent him off to his death.”

“We should wait until the bandits attack the city and then say he died within Yunye City before explaining to the Lord of Yunzhou.”

The Guard Officers looked at each other and suddenly understood.

“City Lord.”

It wasn’t long before Su Zhenglong and Su Yuexi arrived.

Duan Chengshan turned around and cut to the chase, “Su Zhenglong, Yunye City is now in imminent danger, with too few soldiers and horses.

Since you’re the head of the largest family in the city, it’ll be up to you to lead the Jianghu people in resisting the bandits.

Is that alright?”

Stunned momentarily, Su Zhenglong looked at the densely packed bandits below and could only agree.

If the bandits broke through, the entire Yunye City would be doomed.

Following that, Su Zhenglong joined Duan Chengshan in recruiting martial artists from within the city and further fortified the defense with five thousand soldiers on the city walls.

In the meantime, Su Yuexi repeatedly asked Duan Chengshan when someone would be sent to check on Brother Jing.

However, she was told there was no time and they would discuss it after holding Yunye City…

Anxious and helpless, Su Yuexi could only grit her teeth and wait desperately.

An hour later, the bandits outside began their assault on the city.

Despite the involvement of Jianghu individuals, Yunye City was still in grave danger, and soon, bandits had breached the city walls.

As the intense battle raged continuously and cries of combat filled the air, the people inside the city were thrown into turmoil.

At that moment, Duan Chengshan shouted, “This can’t go on.

Su Zhenglong, let’s go down and kill the leader of the bandits together.”

Upon hearing this, Su Zhenglong was jolted, and he replied, “Okay!”

Instantly, over a dozen Human Realm experts, along with Duan Chengshan, an Earth Realm, got ready, setting their sights on the bandit leader below and then surged down together…

But just at that moment, Su Zhenglong suddenly felt something was amiss.

When he landed down from the city walls, he looked back and saw that none of the Human Realm experts, including Duan Chengshan, had come down with him.

“City Lord, what are you doing?” Su Zhenglong demanded, staring wide-eyed.

Duan Chengshan chuckled sinisterly, “Whether Yunye City can be saved from this crisis depends on you now.”

Those words sent a chill through Su Zhenglong, realizing he had been deceived.

Duan Chengshan had never intended to come down together; his plan was either to have Su Zhenglong kill the bandit leader alone or to send him to his death purposefully.

“You’re the only one who came down.

Go to die.”

At that moment, bandits below started charging over, surrounding Su Zhenglong completely.

Above the city walls, Su Yuexi was struck dumb, screaming loudly, “Father…”

After speaking, she grasped her sword, ready to jump down to rescue him, but just then, she was surrounded by Duan Chengshan and others.

Su Yuexi looked at the people around her and shouted fiercely, “Get out of my way, I need to go down and save Father.”

Shrugging his shoulders, Duan Chengshan smirked ominously, “Can’t you see?

Yunye City will surely fall.

We need to escape immediately, and going down is just marching to your death.”

Stunned, Su Yuexi yelled again with all her might, “I don’t care; I’m going down to save Father.”

“Your father is fighting valiantly to buy us time to escape.

It’s admirable, and I will remember his merit,” Duan Chengshan forcefully held Su Yuexi back with a scary tone.

It was then that Su Yuexi realized they had tricked her father into descending the city walls to buy time for their escape.

Her eyes turning completely red, Su Yuexi erupted with Human Realm Third Level True Qi.

“Oh, you’re actually at the Human Realm Third Level, worthy of being my future daughter-in-law,” Duan Chengshan’s eyes brightened, then he asked with a smile, “Su Yuexi, do you want to know about your criminal husband?”

Su Yuexi trembled and quickly asked, “You, you know?”

“Hehe, I’ve known for ten days.”

“Half a month ago, Xia Country’s army of millions breached the border war cities of Yunzhou, including Yunye City; six hundred thousand soldiers, all died outside of Yanyun City.”

Finally, Duan Chengshan revealed the truth, then squinting his eyes, he added, “Including your Brother Jing!”
