Berserk God of War

112: Chapter 112 Interrogation 112: Chapter 112 Interrogation “Kill!”

Following Sikong Jing’s order, fifty thousand soldiers charged on horseback.

They had become accustomed to Sikong Jing’s terrifying methods, their momentum like a torrent, they stormed into the city.

An hour later, all the combat in the city had ceased, and every spy and bandit from Xia Country had been slain.

Two hours later, Sikong Jing once again rode out of Qingyun City.

And behind him now were one hundred thousand troops—the additional fifty thousand had naturally come from the people of Qingyun City who had joined them.

Sikong Jing’s goal of acquiring one hundred thousand soldiers had been achieved at this moment.

Half a day later, Sikong Jing led one hundred thousand troops and finally caught sight of Yanyun City from afar.

At this moment, smoke signals rose from all over Yanyun City, its four gates were tightly shut, and the city walls bristled with warriors in golden armor—they were certainly from Xia Country, some among them were experts who had followed the Eldest Prince from Xia Country.

Others were Xia Country spies who had been hiding in Yanyun City, posing as ordinary people.

And there were many who had gathered from Xia Country and Yunzhou after the death of the Eldest Prince.

Now they had seized the city and locked it down, mobilizing all Xia Country forces inside and outside Yanyun City to hold their ground within the city walls.

They didn’t leave, not for any other reason but because Sui Yu was not yet dead.

At the same time, they were using the lives of everyone in Yanyun City as bargaining chips in negotiations with the Great Shang Dynasty, forcing the Dynasty to pay a much heavier price.

The death of the Eldest Prince could not be compensated for by Sui Yu’s life alone.

In contrast, outside Yanyun City, approximately two hundred thousand troops were encamped, their battle flags flying high, clearly marked with the symbols of the Great Shang Dynasty’s Yunzhou War Mansion, with forces from various cities within Yunzhou having arrived at the city.

The force from Yunye City that Sikong Jing commanded was not the first to arrive.

While Sikong Jing was observing the situation, a cavalry unit from the Yunzhou army camp charged toward him, and the leader called out, “Who goes there?”

Sikong Jing replied from horseback, “Yunye City, Sikong Jing.”

The cavalry halted in front of Sikong Jing’s one hundred thousand troops, and the middle-aged leader asked in confusion, “From Yunye City?

Where is Chou Ye?”

A glance at his rear revealed that Sikong Jing had a force of one hundred thousand—hardly a number that the small Yunye City could muster.

When Chou Ye had reported earlier, he clearly said he could only gather around thirty thousand soldiers.

At this moment, Ah Hu stepped forward and reported, “Sir, General Chou Ye was assassinated by bandits in the Yuntie Forest.”

As he said this, Ah Hu struggled to squeeze out a look of grievance on his face, then pointed at Sikong Jing and said, “This is Brother Sikong Sikong Jing, who was personally appointed by Lord Chou Ye as the temporary commander of Yunye City before his demise.”

The middle-aged man stared at Sikong Jing for a few moments, then asked again, “How do you explain so many followers?”

Ah Hu quickly explained that they were remnants picked up along the way, and another fifty thousand were recent followers from Qingyun City.

Finally, Ah Hu presented his General’s Order, and the commanders from Qingyun City also presented their General’s Orders.

After examining the two General’s Orders, the middle-aged man’s tone slightly softened as he said, “Stay where you are, do not advance another step, or you will be treated as a rebel army.”

Having said that, he turned his horse and rode back towards the camp to report.

Even though Ah Hu had explained, the sudden appearance of one hundred thousand troops was still quite suspicious—especially since Chou Ye and Xie Hong, the two City Guard Generals, had both died, warranting caution.

As they watched the cavalry return to camp, Old Zhang expressed his concern, “Brother Sikong, they may question your identity next, what should we do?”

Sikong Jing continued to gaze toward Yanyun City, only turning away upon hearing the question, and said, “Adapt to the situation.”

Upon hearing this, Old Zhang and Ah Hu exchanged looks, harboring their own worries.

They had already learned of Sikong Jing’s resolve to fight his way back to Yanyun City to save those from the Jin Sect, likely in hopes of reestablishing his great achievements, thereby cleansing himself of the disgrace of his exile, but this would be no easy feat.

As soon as the Commander of Yunzhou got wind of his criminal status, his first move would be to strip him of his command.

About fifteen minutes later, thousands of cavalry charged out from the camp.

The leader had now changed to an elder, with white hair flying, looking invigorated and full of commanding presence.

Seeing this person, Ah Hu quickly explained to Sikong Jing, “That elder is named Mo Yang, one of the Deputy Commanders of Yunzhou.

He is fond of great achievements and very harsh on his subordinates; many dislike him.”

Old Zhang also took over the conversation, “He’s probably not easy to deal with.”

Sikong Jing nodded in understanding.

In the Great Shang Dynasty, there are dozens of states, with each state city establishing a War Mansion.

The highest-ranking officer in the War Mansion is the Commander.

Below each state city, various city forts have their own City Guard General Mansion, and all the City Guard Generals are under the jurisdiction of the War Mansion Commander, who has several Deputy Commanders under them.

During their conversation, Mo Yang had arrived with his thousands of cavalry.

Narrowing his aged eyes, he swept over the hundred thousand soldiers and then slowly turned his gaze to Sikong Jing, his aged voice ringing out, “Are you the temporary Commander of Yunye City?”

Sikong Jing replied, “Indeed, I am Sikong Jing.”

Having said this, he stared at Mo Yang, but it was evident that the latter had not heard of his name.

The name Sikong Jing had been thoroughly erased by the Great Shang Dynasty; they had never intended for him to become famous from the start.

Suddenly, Mo Yang barked out, “You claim to be the temporary commander?

You claim to have retaken Qingyun City; is it really you?

Now that both Generals Chou Ye and Xie Hong are dead, what proof do you have?”

With several questions thrown out, Mo Yang’s presence grew more imposing, and the aura of an Earth Realm warrior emanated from him.

His aged gaze was like that of a venomous snake.

Old Zhang and Ah Hu, among others, suddenly felt stifled and short of breath.

Only Sikong Jing remained as calm as ever as he replied, “The hundred thousand soldiers behind me can all vouch for me.”

Compared to Mo Yang, Sikong Jing’s composure was clearly the greater of the two.

As his words fell, amongst the soldiers behind him, generals from Qingyun City and another fort that had been left with remnant soldiers stepped forward.

“Deputy Commander Mo Yang, we can all bear witness,” they said.

At their words, the hundred thousand soldiers also cried out in unison, “We can all vouch for him.”

This coordinated outcry rattled Mo Yang so much that his head buzzed; the aura of his Earth Realm strength was instantly squashed, and his aged face darkened with incredulity as he stared at the hundred thousand soldiers.

He had never seen soldiers of Yunzhou with such potent presence.

In the Great Shang Dynasty, the soldiers of each state were merely Internal Soldiers—ordinary troops not meant for the battlefield but rather for dealing with local bandits and demon beasts.

Therefore, both in strength and composition, they were inadequate.

This was especially apparent in a remote place like Yunzhou.

Even though Chou Ye was a City Guard General, he was pitifully weak compared to generals who had truly seen battle.

Because Yunzhou bordered Xia Country, it had War Mansion State Soldiers within, and the real Border Battle City soldiers were stationed between it and Xia Country.

Those were indeed elite troops.

Yet these hundred thousand soldiers now also bore the aura of elites?

However, Mo Yang quickly felt a surge of extreme annoyance; as the Deputy Commander of the Yunzhou War Mansion, his presence had been overwhelmed by a shout.

With his face growing stormy, Mo Yang slowly asked Sikong Jing, “What was your original status?”
