Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 947: Chapter 743: For Teraxil

Hill silently sighed.

’Old Age Striking King’ probably knows about Edna’s father’s inheritance too. It’s estimated the young girl mentioned it to her; otherwise, she wouldn’t directly go find Laila for a talk, knowing full well that Laila is negotiating with the Mirabar Dwarves.

She actually just wants to see how Sharol, who hasn’t shown up, would act...very clearly, Hill has discussed Edna’s future with Laila before William invited Edna and Elvia to the Alchemy Hall.

Sharol must know that Edna will leave Luskan in the future and even nod in agreement.

After all, she is Edna’s biological mother. The 12-year-old girl leaving home naturally needs her consent.

None of the Undead Tribe would suspect Hill would make such a big oversight when doing tasks.

But if Sharol intends to give her ex-husband’s money to Edna, she should have appeared long ago... However, Lady Sharol has been following behind Laila, running everywhere. Even in areas where she doesn’t need to show up, she closely follows... She doesn’t know that William will pay Edna.

Hill’s thoughts suddenly shifted to a strange angle: Are Sharol and her husband considered divorced?

Great nobility weddings in Silvermoon City require vows to Mystra or Suren... Edna’s secretive father should neither dare nor want to kneel before the Midnight statue; he probably went to the Silvermoon Temple.

Well... never mind, Hill shook his head; he was thinking too much.

Marriages here in Toril generally dissolve automatically once separated... no need for the procedure.

Hill leaned against the floor-length window, observing the situation across the island... those Undead Tribe priests seemed to be drawn in too... The Striking King actually holds a high position among the priests; most clerics know her.

After all, she is a great woman who can beat knights with her fists.

So that crystal dragon that sensed something wrong also turned its head... though its body still trembles in pain.

This lady just recovered from near-death but no weakness can be felt from her widened eyes... the gossip heart of the dragons is indeed big.

Even now, being stared at with strange eyes by everyone, and with dwarves whispering with puzzled faces standing aside, Lady Sharol’s expression didn’t change much; she just stood innocently behind Laila, genuinely feeling there’s nothing worth mentioning about the matter.

Could it be that Sharol thinks, with Elvia around, Edna surely won’t lack money? But to let a magical pet earn money for supporting its owner as such, does she just naturally feel nothing wrong with it?

The White Dragon Queen is not an easy mark; if there’s no benefit, how could she continuously support Edna?

Wrong, she knows, she feels Edna will eventually be abandoned by both the Undead Tribe and the White Dragon... deep down, Edna doesn’t hold much value... She actually understands her daughter less than Laila.

Hence, Sharol mentions Edna can return to Luskan when she can’t survive... her attitude is clear, come back, I will raise you, but I won’t give you money to support the dragon.

She probably thinks spending money to raise an eternally untrainable White Dragon is foolish. No matter how much money Edna has, she can’t save it; better leave it for Sharol herself to spend, might as well not give Edna any.

After all, if Edna fails, she can come back for Sharol to raise.

Yet she never spoke to stop her daughter from doing this: after all, the contract between the White Dragon Queen and Edna was facilitated by Laila, and approved by Lord Hill. Sharol, who wants to stay in Luskan, wouldn’t anger these two.

If she were a completely ruthless mother, Edna might have left decisively... but her behavior still reveals some maternal love, allowing the young girl to feel that bit of warmth.

However, about saying she’s great... no one can say it out loud.

Honestly, Sharol might as well be more indifferent.

Edna’s face was blank, she softly said: ”Well... just like that... goodbye, Mom.”

’Old Age Striking King’ snorted, turned away at Edna’s pleading gaze, but the strong female priest couldn’t help saying: ”Anyway, soon Lady Sharol will probably be a mother again... hoping for a happy family this time.

On Edna’s side, there’s no need to worry. We’ll build a small Temple of the Deity of Mages over at Hidden Forest area; maybe one day, her dad can be a priest at Hidden Town.

In Hill’s territory, there’s no joining the Silvermoon Alliance, whoever comes is welcome as long as they’re normal... most essential, come whenever desired.”

Hill helplessly smiled, turned to William: ”Seems nothing much here, I’ll head over to Hidden Forest... speaking of, considering they’re my vassals, I haven’t visited yet!”

William was silent for a few seconds before asking: ”This young girl wouldn’t remind you of yourself, right?

Hill, don’t let sympathy drive you to do anything unnecessary! Caution against being drawn into Toril’s tedious fate.

The more I observe her, the more I feel she’s a Son of Destiny... any misfortune can find its way to her.

If not for being friends with the Undead Tribe, she might only be left to cry at Black Staff Tower now.

Afterward, there were all sorts of setbacks, until one day she finally realized that only she mattered, and she chose to break free from useless bonds and embark on an adventure... Her mother’s lover wasn’t from Luskan, meaning they would eventually end up together sooner or later.

Without a home or country, yet with a profound background, her team members each possessed unique abilities...

Though just a few of them roamed the world, making enemies everywhere... However, unless they encountered an evil Great Demon King, no one dared to take their lives lightly.

No matter where they went or what major events they caused, they always managed to escape danger in the end.

If it weren’t for the Undead Tribe, you’d say, how much do they resemble the protagonists in those little... epic chronicles?

Their fates rose and fell, brave and tragic, and anyone tied to them could end up unlucky.”

Hill couldn’t help rolling his eyes: ”What are you thinking! Why would I sympathize with her?

No matter who she becomes in the future, her fate is certainly inscribed on a slate... and it’s related to the destiny of all of Toril.

The last time such a situation occurred... was with that team where Cyric, Midnight, and Kelemvor appeared, right?

They weren’t just a trio... and also, Kelemvor was resurrected after his death.

I’m no fool... there’s no way I’d go myself.

Besides, Edna isn’t really short on money; even without your salary, she could still afford to maintain the White Dragon Queen.”

William chuckled a few times; as a deity of the temporal element, he could naturally see what the little girl’s bracelet was.

Moreover, that bracelet, to be honest, was almost a subartifact. If it weren’t for William’s special sensitivity to spatial waves, he wouldn’t have sensed that subtle aura.

A person like Hill, an Alchemist Master, couldn’t be easily deceived. But Laila and Sharol didn’t have the skills to discern it.

It was evident that Azuth and the former Mystra left plenty of good things for their own child.

Most importantly, at a young age, Edna kept the bracelet tightly under wraps, as evidenced by Sharol’s ignorance... the person who could make Edna do such a thing must be her unfortunate father.

The interpersonal relationships in Toril are something neither William nor Hill is accustomed to. Honestly, it’s hard to understand how these people relish such skeptical marital lives.

Hill glanced at the already-standing Crystal Dragon: ”About done with the dwarves’ matters here... I’m leaving now, first to send the City Guard back to Agleya, then head to the Hidden Forest. By then the White Dragon should’ve arrived.”

”Take along a temporal artifact avatar.” William said lazily, ”After discovering the underground passage, I’ll directly let the Undead Tribe with the highest accomplishments go to you for the task.”

Hill nodded solemnly: ”In this matter, whatever it may be, you can always come to me for help... No, I shouldn’t say help, this is what I ought to do.

Teraxil is my eternal homeland, and to me, nothing can surpass my home.”

William smiled and said: ”I never have any reservations with you on this matter.”

With the camouflage technique activated, Hill returned directly to the Pulvey Ship.

First, he let Li Si notify the Little Fairies and Agleya City Guards to come back, then Hill returned to the study, taking out his notes recording various materials from Toril: plants and minerals are more comprehensive, the aquatic creatures are relatively covered, but the information on land animals is rather lacking, mostly compiled from other sources.

But even so, this notebook was precious, and few could analyze the fundamental materials as thoroughly as Hill did.

Raising his note towards Li Si, who had returned: ”Are the materials in the Floating Castle’s warehouses as complete as this?”

”Most materials I’ve tried to keep in duplicate, but for a few that we don’t have much of, I didn’t put outside, they’re all in the pendant’s warehouse.” Li Si answered quickly.

”Then separate one out for Grandfather.” Hill said softly, ”William hopes to obtain a better blood blue potion, and I think Grandfather will agree to study it... as long as he knows the future plans of the Undead Tribe.”

”Yes, sir.”

The chattering Little Fairies flew back alongside the happily chatting Elves. These City Guards indeed looked much tougher, their defense zones weren’t small, and fighting wasn’t easy.

Letting Lucy help with the farewell to Laila, Hill returned directly to Agleya City.

His communication with Fran went smoothly, knowing what happened, the Alchemist Master unhesitatingly laid down the Magic Book and devoted himself to research.

Hill then sought out Lynn, asking him to issue a purchase notice as per Fran’s request.

Lynn readily agreed to handle communications with the Alchemist Master. After the Undead Tribe’s focus shifted to Luskan, he was indeed more at ease.
