Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 903: Chapter 699: The Long-Awaited Reunion

This time, Hill and Purwell still chose to go around from the sea to Maztika. Although it meant taking a big detour through the southernmost oceans of Ferun to reach the destination in the western Toril, the sky over Toril was still unstable, often exhibiting spatial rifts. Hill didn’t want to be transported to some unknown place.

Upon the sea, Hill encountered no troubles and arrived at the fog-shrouded land... It seemed something had indeed happened to Maztika.

Actually, it’s understandable that the problem lies with this land, since they lost their Main God... taken down by Heim.

Currently, Maztika is largely growing wild, and most people’s living conditions are worse than the barbarians in Icewind Valley, while a few wealthy and powerful individuals mostly rose by trafficking slaves.

Maztika’s mineral resources were initially controlled by the colonists from the Ferun Great Land; the local natives without divine protection couldn’t compete with the colonists backed by Heim using just witchcraft and brute force.

The required mining slaves were initially captured by themselves, later supported by a few ambitious Maztika natives... Even as the Ferun forces gradually withdrew from the land due to certain events, the slave trade thrived among these Maztika people.

They stopped seeing different races as people... Hence, the beastmen of Maztika were the most prone to Abyss temptations, as their living conditions were too harsh, and they were often enslaved by Humans.

Facing such harsh realities, choosing to embrace Darkness wasn’t exactly wrong.

But it also caused the continent’s instability, Hill sighed and instructed Purwell to proceed slowly. The dense gray fog shrouded the sky, with fragmented Space Blades flashing incessantly, striking the body of the Otherworldly Whale.

Fortunately, Hill added Mithril to Purwell’s body, making these endless attacks ineffective against mere mortals. Even a Magic Ship would likely not withstand it.

No wonder the news of Maztika Continent’s trouble hasn’t reached The North.

The countries relatively near here probably lack the capability to enter the gray fog... According to Toril people’s common knowledge, such situations either mean bad luck like Devils or Demons causing big trouble with blood sacrifices, or discovering rare treasures, High-level Artifacts.

Without investigating thoroughly, those national powers would unanimously maintain silence, seeking some clue before proceeding.

Hill couldn’t help but glance back. Nobody stopped him when he arrived, right? He clearly took the most popular sea route.

There should be monitors here, right? Are those ships 10 kilometers away the ones?

What’s the point of being so far?

Of course, the monitors spotted Purwell. In this world of Toril, 10 kilometers isn’t far. Many methods could swiftly bring Magic Ships close.

But this odd-looking Otherworldly Whale’s identity is known among the capable in Ferun. They’re not like the stubborn Baldur’s Gate Mercenary Corps, unlikely to confront this Mage Lord who can slay Giant Dragons?

Don’t talk to them about Magical Curio. If anything can kill them, who cares what method is used!

They don’t have the confidence to limit others from using Strange Objects... Truthfully, Neverwinter refraining from discussing him has already placed them at a disadvantage, as they were the ones hoping inland country powers would share the future risk of half-orc invasions.

Now Agleya City... has taken all pressure away, and Neverwinter doesn’t need to cry for aid everywhere, everyone is happy, right?

As for Baldur’s Gate, maybe those thinking they’d find solutions eventually have been possessed by Baal?

Talking about future matters now, what’s the use!

When it’s time to surrender, you must surrender!

So rather watch this powerful Mage, to see if he brings some useful message... At least let them know if there are any Evil Gods or Devils or Demons inside.

For Hill, as long as there’s no hostility towards him, he seldom minds those Low-level Professionals.

He’s more focused on the stretch of almost a hundred kilometers of gray fog... Even the seabeds are filled with these lethal spatial fogs, with no life existing in this part of the ocean.

This is truly the Dead Sea!

In any case, witnessing death is never pleasant.

Hill sat on Purwell’s back, feeling rather unhappy, slowly heading towards the continent’s silhouette.

They could only move slowly, knowing these gray fogs comprised unstable Chaos Elements, sensing danger and advancing quickly would certainly trigger a terrifying Elemental Storm.

Hill knew, of course, because back when he was farming on the edge of the Teraxil World, he had enough contact with this kind of storm and recognized it right away.

The end of the mist was still the ocean. Within the short ten kilometers leading to the shore, Hill saw countless types of ocean creatures. It seemed that some keen enough lucky ones had escaped this disaster.

However, it also created another consequence... Hill was dazed standing on Purwell’s back. So many monsters were standing on the shore, and even a few giant dragons were flying up and down, seemingly fishing.

Hill observed for a moment, and it seemed they were more interested in Toril’s fish, especially those few giant dragons, who were busy snatching some large fish from Toril.

Many monsters were obviously using their talented magic. Hill observed for a while and found that Aber creatures were indeed more proficient in using elemental magic.

Hill instructed Purwell not to leave the Mist Zone, to swim slowly around the continent along the edge of the gray mist.

This world can’t possibly be without coastal cities.

The gray mist hid their whereabouts well. Hill looked at those strangely shaped creatures, feeling a headache... he heard that the sun seen in the Aber world was blue and the sky was steel-colored, is that why they looked so unrestrained?

Hill even wondered if the strange monsters from weird legends in his past world were all derived from here.

They were so ugly that he didn’t want to look much. Even the elements that occasionally appeared on land surprised him a little... although elements have no fixed form, most elemental creatures like to imitate humans and grow limbs, forming the current appearance of elemental spirits. However, Aber’s elements were more in the form of beasts.

Clearly, the strongest in this world are giant dragons and humanoid creatures!

It’s really strange.

Hill was only grateful that he had temporarily placed the little fairies in the Floating Castle and hadn’t brought them out. Otherwise, they would have clamored to go ashore.

He was a bit worried that this otherworldly continent might affect the little fairies, who were more closely connected to nature. After all, Aber and Toril are actually twin planets of the same plane, only later separated by AO, with Aber placed in another dimension.

Previously, only through Suren’s Moon could one enter Aber from Toril.

Hill, absent-mindedly pondering, finally perked up... he saw the first city since arriving here.

There were also many people fishing by the coast... Dragonborn, Dwarves, Elemental Descendants, Halflings, Humans, and some other humanoid races. Indeed, there were no Elves or Half-Elves, nor fairies.

In the Aber world, the deities have always been cautious. AO’s creation of this near-independent world not only prevents planar magic of demons and devils but also makes communicating with the deities completely impossible.

No one knows what AO intends or whether he plans to turn the world he created into a model where magic exists without deities. In fact, before Aber’s dimensional changes, most deities weren’t wary of AO.

But after that, even optimism-prone deities like Miliel and Lyril, who naturally leaned toward positive thinking, acted very cautiously in face of AO’s various actions.

So responsible racial gods like Coron would inform all descendants that this world wasn’t suitable for habitation: Aber, as AO’s testing ground, could become anything in the future, and no one knew.

In fact, one clear point proves how severely this world was interfered with: it’s a world where fairies and little fairies cannot be born at all, its nature is already distorted to some extent.

Hill silently observed the Aberians using various spells and martial skills to catch fish.

Compared to the Toril people, they never had the Weave, and now they were quite at ease. However, it was true that all were using elemental magic like Wind Blades and Ice Knives, which, speaking of it, were more akin to the form of magic from the Teraxil side.

Hill couldn’t help but laugh. Indeed, Aber and the initially law-incomplete Teraxil should not be too different. No matter how many laws are twisted, the basic elemental composition of matter wouldn’t change. The magic that can be used are just those few kinds.

Purwell swam slowly along the city’s edge; they seemed to have moved from the civilian area to the noble district, where Hill saw more Dragon People, indicating that Aber is now a dragon-dominated world.

Hill’s wandering eyes suddenly focused... someone had noticed him!

He stood up and looked back, seeing an extraordinarily beautiful man, whose eyes seemed like a mass of concentrated flame. He stood at the city’s highest point, and even the giant dragon standing beside him showed no disagreement, behaving very respectfully instead.

This should be the Primordial ones that AO sent to this world, beings born in the prehistoric dawn... back then, even the Toril Gods were few!

However, Hill’s attention was captured by another person standing under that platform.

With deep golden short hair, a neat robe, a flying crystal ball, and that serious expression... Hill’s face almost instantly blossomed with a smile.

He urged Purwell to fly up immediately and opened the balcony, leaning out amidst the surprised and defensive gasps below, waving his right hand vigorously: ”Grandfather! Grandfather!”
