Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 926: Chapter 722: The White Dragon Who Bravely Advances Along the Divergent Path

Arausato pondered and said, ”If she has that encyclopedia from the Deity of Mages in her hand...that might be a good idea...but how do you plan to bypass Laila and sign a contract with a little girl?

I remember you really value your friendship with Laila?”

”Just say it outright.” Elvia Tulais said nonchalantly, ”Laila can understand, she knows what I’ve been pursuing all along, and is willing to be my last choice...so as long as I ask, she will agree to sign a contract with me.

But since she’s a friend I acknowledge, some methods can’t be used.

That little girl is just her niece’s child, Laila may not necessarily value her... In any case, we’ll observe first, and if she doesn’t have that encyclopedia, I won’t have to struggle.

Unless it’s absolutely necessary, I really don’t want to go east!”

Arausato thought for a moment and felt there was no problem, so he nodded carefully, ”It’s your decision... just be careful not to attract the attention of the Teraxil Elves.”

Hill sat on Purwell’s back, thoughtfully looking back at the towering mountains, feeling that something strange might happen.

But today’s events were actually quite simple! Isn’t it just that Laila is going to become a Magic Dragon Knight?

White Dragons are always mages’ favorite mounts...

As for those White Dragons who want to work, earning money means paying the price of freedom... do they really think they can work part-time and rob at the same time? Why don’t they just go up in the sky and stand shoulder to shoulder with AO!

Hill gently shook his head, thinking it’s probably not a bad thing, his sense of crisis wasn’t heavy, which meant it might not be related to him, so he decided not to ponder over it... too many premonitions can sometimes leave a person confused.

”Purwell, do you want to first take Kratos back to Agleya?” Hill asked softly, ”It won’t be peaceful here for a while.”

”I’ll go ask him.” The little light orb darted out of the terrace, and after leaving the ship for the first time, Purwell seemed a bit bolder, at least when Hill was nearby, he could bravely fly 50 meters away.

The Otherworldly Whale’s size was too big, and 50 meters was already an uncomfortably close distance... getting any closer might lead to accidents.

Purwell returned quickly.

Hill actually understood what their chirps were saying, after listening to these natural sounds often, he could somewhat understand them.

”Kratos asked me if those Necromancers would really attack Luskan...he’s willing to stay and help, after all, the sea is right next to us, and with such a short distance he can shuttle back and forth, he can directly send those skeletons under the ice, so by the time they dig them out, we’ll have already left.

But I told him that those skeletons are just here to die!

So he really wants to see his enemies’ tragic end... we might as well go back to Luskan directly!”

Hill silently looked at the little light orb...that’s not what the whale said.

Kratos’s initial reaction to knowing they were going back to Luskan indeed was to follow...but his plan was to help people escape if Hill and the others lost...Kratos was worried that after Purwell turned into a ship, he wouldn’t be able to take people through space leaps together.

But having seen many battle scenes while staying at Agleya, Purwell directly told Kratos that was the most foolish way: That throwing people under the ice plan was actually his idea.

Escaping also requires skill!

This is what the Undead Tribe says often...even when they lose a fight, they make sure the opponent doesn’t win too comfortably.

Losing isn’t scary, but meaningless failure is...this was the long-term cry of a brave young man...although most people didn’t take it seriously, thinking he was daydreaming...but it seems Purwell took it to heart...

Hill listened to his family’s whale’s chatter with a serious face, the only thing he could do to maintain his friendship with Purwell was to resist laughing.

Purwell happily continued saying he gave his new friend a good idea: when the time comes, Kratos can dismantle those skeletons’ bones and throw them into various corners of the ocean, ensuring that even if their souls aren’t destroyed, they can’t gather their original bones...for necromancers, this approach is indeed more terrifying than burning them.

Necromancers prefer to cast spells smoothly with their original bodies...if completely gone, he might consider assembling a new set because he still needs to use it.

But knowing it’s still there...just not knowing which corner of the world it’s in...after being resurrected, the first thing he’d do is scour the world for his bones.

Moreover, the Undead have a special attachment to their bodies before death, even Demigod level Liches can’t control this nature.

This idea indeed aligns with the Undead Tribe’s style...what can I say...when you can’t kill the opponent, causing them trouble is the easiest thing to do.

Hill leisurely led the two whales back to the battlefield, listening to a bunch of mischievous and amusing ideas...for the kind Otherworldly Whales, they couldn’t imagine making these necromancers’ bodies and souls vanish together.

Hill smiled nonchalantly; he didn’t think Laila wouldn’t be able to think of this.

Unless there’s divine backing, normal Toril wars usually end with either a quick stop or complete annihilation.

This world is one where entire countries can be wiped out in a heartbeat... A world where an individual’s power is enough to destroy a nation—leaving behind remnants is just asking for trouble a few centuries down the line when someone powerful might rise again, isn’t it?

And in a war between good and evil, where it’s clear the opponent has great aspirations for one’s territory... no one holds back. Laila still hopes to rely on Luskan and Kelben for direct confrontation! How could she leave such a huge problem behind!

Hill glanced through the clouds at Laila, who stood atop a high platform, sternly scolding the Luskan Defense Force, while the twins behind her were well-protected by Sharol... This was the pinnacle of parental conflict he had ever seen.

Laila hoped that her children, even if they truly became the City Lords of the two cities as the prophecy said, would do so willingly and from their hearts... She valued the mental and physical health of her children.

While Kelben hoped to control the two cities.

In fact, many people could see why the two were almost at odds over this matter... Kelben’s actions clearly signaled he wasn’t willing to relinquish the governance of those cities.

No mother would want her children to be puppets for life... even if the one controlling them is their biological father.

”Why are they being scolded?” Purwell leaned in to ask, ”And why are Vila and the others still with the Elven City Guards? I thought they’d come back!”

While Laila was scolding, the Undead Tribe on both sides were pointing, indicating their involvement.

Hill listened carefully for a while before slowly voicing his summarized conclusion: ”The Luskan Defense Force thought themselves brave and, seeing the Undead Tribe charge downwards, jumped after them... It affected the Undead Tribe on their other side... Their task was to protect the local warriors.

While rescuing them, they had to let some half-orcs escape.

And there’s competition among the Undead Tribe... As a result, they ranked near the bottom of the defense battle zones and were very displeased.

They probably complained a lot, prompting Laila to lose her temper... Now those Undead Tribe members were still saying things like, ’If you’re not capable, don’t rush in recklessly.’

Those two families are renowned among the Undead Tribe for their formidable combat strength, and ranking low for the first time dampened their spirits.

As for Vila, the Little Fairies are highly averse to products not naturally born, and they have a good relationship with the City Guard.

They probably want to enhance their blessings through song, helping the guards recover their strength at least.”

”Can pranks foster relationships?” Purwell murmured, completely baffled as to how relations on both sides were friendly?

The Little Flower Fairies often played inexplicable pranks on the patrolling City Guards... He always heard their roars while flying in the air!

Purwell was perplexed beyond measure, thinking that if it weren’t for Hill’s control preventing those little troublemakers from targeting him, he’d be driven insane.

”Little Flower Fairies are so beautiful! They speak so pleasantly, like singing.” Hill softly said, ”For most elves, appearance is the key to forgiveness, and if you can be a bit sweet-talking, it’s even better...”

Purwell floated for a moment, recalling the legends of the Elf Deity System... Every deity who ever got into trouble, especially that Father of Elves, always seemed to get unlucky at the hands of a beauty, regardless of gender.

He couldn’t help but softly ask, ”Like father, like son?”

Hill gave him a look to keep the chatty Little Whale silent—didn’t he accept the Little Flower Fairies because they were cute and beautiful?

He turned to observe the Luskan Defense Force; this minor incident shouldn’t affect much, Laila’s scolding should be the end of it.

Unless the Defense Force makes the same mistake again next time.

In fact, during the placement of the Temporal Artifact, much consideration had already gone in—the Defense Force had the Magic Cult and Black and White Path on either side... The clan leaders of these two families, at least on the surface, appeared to have relatively good tempers... their subtleties are another matter; the Temporal Artifact wasn’t accounting for that...

It’s just satire, if you make a mistake, endure it silently!

Replace it with Black Rose or Wenjian, and even if you’re an NPC, you could be scolded to death... Wait, that actually sounds quite interesting... Seeing those Undead Tribe members swallowing their words after overdoing it would surely be amusing!

Hill actually found himself more interested in such stories... Otherwise, these battles without any surprises were just too boring.

He glanced at the sky; the long day was finally over.

It was now intermission time, and the half-orcs were blocked by the raging inferno set ablaze by the Undead Tribe.

The Undead Tribe was clearing the battlefield.
