Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 941: Chapter 737: The Future Residence of the White Dragon

Edna, sitting on the sofa, tried hard to raise the paper in her hand so that Elvia could look with her: but the claw of the White Dragon Queen beside her chair was higher than she was sitting!

Elvia shook her head, trying to find a suitable angle to lean over and look together, but even though Hill had already used larger paper, her long and slender neck was still too high despite her lying on the ground.

Although she knew Transformation Spell, as the White Dragon Queen who preferred her dragon form, she couldn’t remember such lengthy spells... Elvia took out her Magic Book, hesitated for a moment, but still didn’t dare to use it.

Mages who made mistakes even while reading aloud are not few... not to mention needing to input Mana according to the feedback from the Weave, Elvia felt she didn’t have that strong of a capability... she was better at learning.

Edna shifted uneasily, recalling the words of the Sanda King, after all, she was a child, and it should be okay even if she stood on a chair?

But the one who needed to see clearly was Elvia.

The little girl was very clear in her heart that in this matter, all she could do was witness, the main decision-maker should be the White Dragon Queen, Elvia seemed cold and ruthless, but in her heart, she was truly concerned about the future of the White Dragon Clans.

Even if it sounded like it was for money... with Elvia’s abilities, she didn’t need that transaction fee at all.

Even if she collected protection fees for the White Dragons who inherited the territories left by the Teraxil Elves later, that would be normal... only with Elvia’s intervention could those White Dragons safeguard their assets...

After linking with Edna’s Mental Sea, the White Dragon Queen couldn’t hide her true thoughts, Edna could sense the evil of this White Dragon, but could also see the good points beyond the evil...

Edna felt that all the common knowledge she had heard and seen in the past was shattered... Kelben of the Kind Alignment wasn’t necessarily a good person, and Elvia of the Evil Faction wasn’t unforgiveably bad.

She worriedly looked at her own White Dragon, trying hard to raise the document higher.

Hill laughed, tapping the Temporal Artifact: ”Can you please project it for Lady Elvia Tulais?”

The 20-meter-long White Dragon Queen was quickly captivated by the huge screen that appeared before her, this was the first time she could read so effortlessly!

As always, the clever Elvia tried to memorize part of the middle contents, cross-referencing with Edna through the Mental Sea to ensure every word and symbol matched, only then did she relax to read carefully.

But after reading the document from beginning to end, Elvia Tulais was bewildered: was there some benefit on their White Dragon bodies that they themselves didn’t know?

This contract was so generous... it would be fine to let Black Dragons sign too, wouldn’t it?

It not only included room and board but also offered very substantial salaries... a large number of clauses were restrictions on the Teraxil Elves... even how long these elves could not be in Toril before the contract automatically terminated was written.

The requirement on the White Dragons’ side was to obey the master’s orders, not to continue any evil activities... being well-fed and paid is the pinnacle of an ordinary White Dragon’s life, right?

Moreover, different salaries were given according to different levels, the higher the level... the number of gold coins made Elvia Tulais a bit tempted... she decided to talk to Arausato.

At least the Teraxil Elves certainly didn’t intend to take the White Dragons away from Toril, there was a very clear restriction above, not allowing the White Dragons to leave this world.

If that’s the case... Arausato might as well stay idle, until Mystra reappears, White Death wouldn’t dare return to its lair for deep sleep and could only wait... might as well earn a pile of gold coins to make a bed.

Hill glanced at the document modified from his Magical Beast Contract, smiling helplessly, William really knew how to save trouble.

However, the constraints on the White Dragons were a bit too much.

But, Hill cast a glance at the White Dragon Queen who was daunted, apparently, to her, those requirements weren’t considered restrictions at all: the status of these White Dragons was evident.

Edna reviewed the document several times, feeling she couldn’t think of more requirements... on Toril, White Dragons had never been treated with such importance.

She felt she could completely understand why the Sanda King Sister’s Magical Beasts followed them with unwavering loyalty, even willing to come to completely unfamiliar worlds.

Edna solemnly asked Elvia’s opinion, she thought the contract could be signed, but she could feel her magical pet’s heart’s millions of thoughts: the treatment was too high, Elvia kind of wanted more... she worried if there was some advantage of the White Dragons that she hadn’t discovered... was there some mineral deposit on the Ice Plain? Could it be diamonds?

Edna quickly and calmly interrupted her magical pet’s greed: ”Sister Cunlü’s pigs probably don’t have a much different treatment from this.”

The White Dragon sitting upright on the carpet suddenly turned to look at her master, eyes wide with confusion.

Hill immediately understood what this master-slave duo was communicating about, he almost burst out laughing: ”Miss Edna is right, this is indeed based on the Teraxil Magical Beast Contract, slightly modified for the peculiar circumstances of Toril.”

Lord Agleya’s honesty is well-known; he never deceives others... Elvia Tulais slumped down dejectedly: ”Then I have no objections; White Dragons are lazy and rarely cause trouble on their own.”

Every word from this Queen must be taken with a grain of salt.

Hill laughed helplessly: ”So... there’s another matter. The object of the White Dragon’s contract, is it chosen by yourselves or should we arrange someone from here?”

Edna asked nervously, ”Can’t we just use someone from the Black Rose? I’m more familiar with them.”

”No, you can’t~” William, who had been listening quietly, interjected, ”When we arrange candidates here, we definitely consider it from everyone’s perspective and cannot provide special treatment to any particular family.

If someone from the Black Rose has had interactions with you, they may gain some extra points, giving them a quicker chance compared to others.

But there are only a few people related to Lady Elvia Tulais, so only these few can receive permission to directly start the preliminary work.”

Edna was a bit confused, so she asked directly: ”I don’t think the White Dragons are that important! Why make things so complicated?”

”Ah... dear Miss Edna...” William sighed and said, ”If you manage more people in the future, you’ll need to understand one thing: A great leader doesn’t need to be extraordinarily wise or capable; being fair and just enough can make their country strong and vibrant.”

Edna struggled to understand William’s words: ”But if even those close to you don’t benefit, who will genuinely follow you?”

”Distinguishing between public and private interests is enough.” William laughed, ”Benefits for friends and family should come from the leader’s personal gains, not from the entire country or force.”

Edna disagreed, ”But isn’t the country supposed to belong to the King? Isn’t all of it supposed to be the King’s?”

William paused for a few seconds before replying: ”But does the country really only belong to the King? Miss Edna, I hope you will, on your path of growth, read more about Toril’s history. Regardless of the race, are their Kings truly the masters of the people and country?

If you can’t see this clearly... even if you become the Queen of a country, you may not be successful in the end! The White Dragon Queen is not a good example; those White Dragons... can they really be considered her genuine subjects?

Even in a world like Toril, where individual power is more commendable, is Silvermoon City under Elaströ’s rule so different from now?

If we only consider strength, the current Lord of Silvermoon is no worse than Elaströ when she first took control of Silvermoon City.”

Edna still didn’t fully understand, but she at least realized that the words of the Teraxil Divinity across from her might only become clear when she matures further.

Currently, her understanding of the world still comes from books and the White Dragon Queen... She also agreed with William’s assessment of Elvia... So she had more to learn!

Elvia didn’t care about what they were saying... if there were truly more Dragon Kingdoms, other races might be scared to death... Toril only has one Northern Wind Country created by Bahamut, but that’s more like a vacation and breeding ground for Metal Dragons.

Chromatic Dragons never saw any benefit in raising their whelps in such comfortable places; a life filled with safety yet tension prepares Little Dragons to be independent as adults.

Otherwise... when the Dwarves played the dragon-slaying game back then, they didn’t pick sides among the Giant Dragons!

Elsewhere, if multiple Giant Dragons exist, they are a community of interests, led because of strength, not management ability. Once their goal is achieved, they naturally separate.

Elvia thought for a while, considering the Teraxil Elves she recently observed in Luskan, and straightforwardly said: ”I’ll leave it to you to handle. I don’t want to interact with so many elves.

Master Edna isn’t suitable either... her previous friends are enough. I just feel the Teraxil Elves should only be partially engaged.”

Hill looked at the White Dragon, giving her a mental nod; indeed, this dragon’s innate intuition was very powerful, allowing her to live so freely until now.

Edna glanced at Elvia and nodded as well. Her attention to the matter wasn’t significant, as long as Sanda King Sister wouldn’t be disappointed, that was enough.

”I plan to arrange the White Dragons wanting to contract with the Teraxil Elves to the Hidden Forest,” William continued, ”It’s more suitable than Luskan, at least there won’t be ordinary people easily frightened.”

Elvia blinked her slender dragon eyes: ”Will the Mithril Elves agree to have White Dragons as neighbors?”

What a joke, those elves are notoriously harsh... Probably only Elf Dragons can win their favor.
