Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 940: Chapter 736: William’s Unexpected Intervention

The ’Old Age Striking King’ slapped down the cheering ’Cunlü’ and asked calmly, ”What requirements do you have for people who breed White Dragons?”

Edna suddenly became happy. She was well acquainted with her Teraxil Elf friends; their interest proved they were intrigued: ”The requirements are simple... just feed them well... and then...”

Her words were interrupted by the floating Lucy: ”Miss Edna, this matter must have the consent of the leaders of the Teraxil Elves... His Majesty William is waiting for you on the other side of the Temporal Artifact. Please take your Lady White Dragon to the Alchemy Hall to discuss a more suitable result... Not every Teraxil Elf is fit to be the owner of a White Dragon...

His Majesty William will not refuse this matter, but some restrictions must be added to prevent elves lacking self-control from teaming up with White Dragons and causing too much trouble.

The behavior of the Teraxil Elves in Toril must be cautious, otherwise they might be directly expelled by the great God Above Gods... They haven’t planned on leaving this world so early.”

Edna hesitantly nodded... The Toril people never thought White Dragons could stir up much trouble... She really didn’t understand why the leader of the Sanda King Sister was so concerned about this matter, and she was a bit at a loss about what she could do.

In the little girl’s mind, this was originally something that she and her friends could decide with just a few words... Their family of Sanda King had so many members, but Elvia’s White Dragon Clans had only a few hundred.

The ’Old Age Striking King’ crossed her arms, very dissatisfied, and asked, ”Edna was asking us! Is William planning to harm our interests?

I have already recorded those words...

If the agreement is reached, we should definitely be the first ones to get dragons, right?”

Her words were partially cut, Hill guessed it might be something about planning to complain about false advertising if they weren’t given White Dragons.

Meanwhile, Lucy tilted her head as if listening to something, then quickly bowed slightly to the Undead Tribe below who were eyeing them eagerly: ”His Majesty William says the ladies don’t seem to need to worry about affinity issues... but you’re just one step ahead of others in receiving the task, which doesn’t mean you’ll be exempt from completing what’s necessary.

After all, you’re already a step ahead of others.

Winning the favor of Miss Edna and the White Dragon Queen isn’t something easily achieved.”

The ’Old Age Striking King’ nodded in satisfaction, that was more like it. According to William’s usual style, it would take at least a month to build affinity, and it would cost a lot of gold coins.

This dog planner always eagerly participates in gold coin recycling events.

But what does it have to do with her?

In such a long time, their tasks would surely have been completed long ago... The title of the first Dragon Knight is definitely hers!

In a cheerful mood, the ’Old Age Striking King’ smiled and consoled Edna: ”Then you should go with Lucy to the Alchemy Hall!

Don’t worry, though William is a bit cheeky, he’s still fair in his dealings.

He has already ascended to godhood and would never violate his own law of fairness and justice, even if he is cheeky, there’s a limit.

Besides, you’re just a child, you don’t need to play those hypocritical adult games. If you find his words hard to understand or are unsure, just ask William to clarify, he’ll definitely be embarrassed to continue playing those political games.

Hehe~ Good luck~ Edna!”

Edna looked down at her friend who was openly defaming her own Main God and awkwardly smiled: she had heard before that Elves, although willing to regard Coron as their Main God, weren’t so respectful... when gossiping, they could be harsher than humans... their cursing could rival that of Gnomes.

But she always thought it was a prank from the Little Fairies... many Mages said this was a story from the Shady Home and not always to be believed... humans rarely saw this side of the Elves.

Hmm... Perhaps the Little Fairies didn’t lie about this?

Edna wiped the inexplicable sweat off her forehead that appeared despite the cold winter, so the Sanda King Sister is like that... it’s normal, right? Cursing their own Main God is a tradition among Elves?

The little girl sighed, she really couldn’t listen to it any longer. She was indeed still a normal human!

She’d better hurry up and get down to serious business!

Edna quickly instructed Elvia beneath her to follow Lucy to the Alchemy Hall, she really didn’t intend to test her heart any longer.

However, it’s a bit strange!

Edna watched as the Lord of Agleya floated directly into the Alchemy Hall from mid-air, and couldn’t help but turn her head, searching around: Laila and her mother Sharol were still on the city wall, dealing with some post-war affairs, surrounded by a group of Luskan officials, looking quite busy.

So, the matter of the White Dragon has nothing to do with Luskan?

Edna walked into the Alchemy Hall with a head full of questions: she had followed the ”Old Age Striking King” in countless times before, but never once felt so elated...She finally realized that in the eyes of His Majesty William, she was regarded as an adult capable of taking responsibility for herself!

Unlike the people of Toril, who wouldn’t directly communicate with Edna about matters concerning her, but would go straight to Sharol.

Edna finally understood why she had a fondness for Elvia...The White Dragon Queen saw her true self.

No matter how many schemes Elvia had against her, Elvia assessed Edna’s personal value...rather than going to Sharol to let her make decisions on Edna’s behalf.

Being treated as an adult for the second time in a day made Edna fully understand her own desires: she always wanted to hold her fate in her own hands.

With a serious attitude, Edna followed Lucy up to the last high platform in the Alchemy Hall, which was lit by a glowing diamond crystal. She thought, she finally understood what the Sanda King Sister always said: don’t confine yourself to identities like child or woman, don’t think of yourself as a weak person, strive to become stronger every moment, just getting stronger day by day is enough.

When she reaches a certain level of strength, everything she deserves will naturally come to her.

Before that, there’s no need to tightly grasp the sand that cannot be held...everything obtained by relying on others is made of sand, the tighter you hold, the more it slips through your fingers.

She isn’t that strong yet, but due to various coincidences, what she holds can already form clay... One day, she will turn this clay into stone, then into a real priceless treasure!

Hill stood quietly on the side, watching Edna. At the moment she walked into the hall, she seemed to have realized something...she had transformed, no longer the anxious and uneasy little girl from before stepping in.

It seemed that in that instant, Edna absorbed and understood the nearly ten-thousand-year experience she got from Elvia, her small body now carried a hint of kingly demeanor.

Seeing Edna looking over, Hill smiled gently and spoke softly, ”Miss Edna, please have a seat, His Majesty William is preparing the agreement on his side.

You can also use this time to think about how to protect the rights of the White Dragons in this cooperation with Lady Elvia Tulais.”

Edna glanced at Elvia noncommittally; her White Dragon magical pet was now mentally muddled.

She could feel that from Elvia, a string of questions and even some fear arose; the White Dragon Queen didn’t know what these Teraxil Elves and deities were trying to extract from the White Dragons?

Although Elvia didn’t value her own kind’s safety as much as it appeared, she absolutely wouldn’t want to sever the future of other White Dragons with her own hands.

Elvia fell into a panic: she didn’t understand, why such a small matter as feeding the White Dragons ample meals escalated so much. She thought, she should have just minded her own business... The White Dragon Queen fell into deep self-blame, she shouldn’t have acted kindly!

Edna always knew why her magical pet promoted the idea of making the White Dragons into magical pets for the Teraxil Elves, and couldn’t help but roll her eyes internally: indeed, having thick skin is the key to living long!

Watching Edna seated on the couch and gently nudging Elvia, who was on the soft blanket beside her, Hill couldn’t help but laugh: ”Don’t worry, if you can’t think of anything now, just wait to see His Majesty William’s contract paper, then consider your demands.”

The voice of William came from the diamond crystal: ”Hill, please hand this document to Miss Edna and Lady Elvia Tulais to review together.”

Hill glanced at the document within the crystal and prepared to transcribe it: this was the very reason William insisted on him being here. Without Hill, who could directly request the Toril Gods to witness, no one would sign a contract paper of unknown deities.

Under the startled gaze of the White Dragon Queen, Hill requested Suren’s testimony, and the silver-white moonlight slowly condensed into sheets of paper in the hall.

Elvia Tulais let out a big sigh of relief.

Edna felt ecstatic cheers from her magical pet in her mental sea: Thank goodness! It’s not Dawn! Great! It’s Suren!

She couldn’t help but blink; is the deterrent power of the Dawn’s Lord to the Evil Faction that strong?

But isn’t Suren’s contract also not that easy to break?

Elvia sensed her master’s questions and directly explained in the mental sea: ”I’m not foolish! Not to mention the Lord of Agleya, just the deity who can command the Teraxil Elves, I can’t afford to offend as well!

How could I think of betraying their contract!

But I would never sign my name on the Dawn’s Lord’s contract paper!

That’s a Disaster Star! Whoever gets involved with him gets unlucky!”

Hill glanced at the expressive White Dragon Queen and the bewildered Edna, easily guessing what they were discussing, and couldn’t help but smile as he handed over the document: ”Please take a look! If you have any opinions, please do raise them.”
