Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 909: Chapter 705: Ferun Great Land, Chaos Begins

Purwell sailed from east to west along the southern coastline of Ferun Great Land, and soon passed the Dolphin Bay of old.

Then their path was blocked by Sea Elves.

List could only choose to alert Hill, as the Sea Elves, though cold towards Elves, still belonged to the same race... When encountering trouble, they would naturally seek Hill’s help.

The Coron’s bloodline in him was definitely something he couldn’t hide... Now the humans somewhat knew about it too, so being suspected of relying on Strange Objects for his immense power was quite normal, considering Coron’s expertise in crafting Magical Items.

Hill was already on the second row... For him, it was truly a delightful interruption.

Even though he was a diligent good lad, he occasionally wanted to take a little break.

He walked to the exit of Purwell’s mouth and poked his head out to take a look.

There were thirty-six Deep Sea Elves with green skin, clearly in a squad mode... Even in this aspect, they were similar to the Elf Troops. Each Elf was accompanied by a dolphin, with some whales patrolling the distance.

This was the Dolphin Troop of the Lord of the Deep Sea, regarded as the elite among Sea Elves, mostly 15-level warriors and above.

”Are you Lord Hill of Agleya?” A tall Sea Elf swam over, ”His Majesty Saezelra said that if we encounter trouble, we can seek your help...”

”That’s me. What’s the matter?” Hill nodded helplessly. The Lord of the Deep Sea, who constantly competed with Coron, indeed had the audacity to have his followers seek help from the offspring of his old rival.

Even so, despite his arrogance, he never denied being part of the Elf Deity System; he was merely resentful.

”Teresina is not in Dolphin Bay, and we can barely withstand those mad Shark-heads.” The Sea Elf raised the harpoon in his hand, ”Their masters seem to be unreachable, and recently, they went mad after discovering we could contact His Majesty Saezelra.”

”Do you need me to drive them away or wipe them out?” Hill asked in a flat tone.

The Sea Elf was startled: ”No, no, no! Teresina doesn’t like death, and they haven’t actually harmed us.

The Shark-heads are just trying to force us to find news of Ambori... Both being banished from this world, the Sahua Fishmen can contact their Main God, but Ambori’s presence is almost undetectable.

They want to know if Ambori... uh... can still return?

If not, they’ll have to find a secluded place to hide...”

Hill gazed helplessly at these hopeful green heads: You fight for no reason... and end up forming bonds?

When chaos evil and chaos good fight, do they chat and exchange gossip?

He paused for a moment before saying, ”Ambori last teamed up with the God of Sahua Fishmen from the Demon side against Teresina, seen by the priest of the Demon Prince... That one is not reasonable.”

”Hmm...” The Sea Elf anxiously swam around the dolphin a few times before muttering, ”Many of those Devilfish have also been sent away, and the remaining ones are crazily hunting Sahua Fishmen. They seem to be trying to activate the altar to contact that Great Demon.

The Shark-heads are also worried about being implicated, given their somewhat similar heads.”

The Sharkmen could fit dozens of Fishmen... How do they resemble each other?

”Then it depends... on whether Ambori can evade the Demon Prince’s pursuit. At least now, she is still alive!

Before she dies, as fellow Demon Followers, the Devilfish will not act against the Fishmen until they’re extinct.” Hill thought for a moment before saying.

Ambori’s Abyssal Plane where she resides is quite distant from Dimogogan, and the cost is also considerable, so the Demon Prince can attack her once at most, not stalk her constantly.

Ambori doesn’t have the worth to waste Dimogogan’s efforts on such a scale, but merely to teach her a lesson, and see if he can make use of it.

The Sea Elf nodded with satisfaction and used the conch at his waist to relay Hill’s words.

They were well aware that, compared to Saezelra, Agleya, as a fellow Goddess of the Sea, could actually sense Ambori’s existence better.

Then the Sea Elf made another request: ”Lord Hill, could you sell us some food? Though we usually eat fish, we generally purchase some land food from humans for a change of taste.

But humans are not trustworthy... Without the protection of Deities, we dare not approach land.

So we can only ask for your help.”

The demeanor and speech of the Sea Elves... really made one uncomfortable, Hill grumbled internally as he agreed, asking List to fetch some fruit and prepared food from the warehouse.

After all, with creatures that rarely speak human language, one can’t expect them to speak elegantly.

However, Hill quickly understood why the sea elves had so many grievances against humans... If the value of the food were really calculated based on the number of pearls, gemstones, and special mineral stones from the sea they sent him, one apple could be worth 500 gold.

Hill helplessly asked, ”You’ve given me too much, would you rather take back some of the excess materials yourselves, or should I give you more food?”

The leading sea elf laughed, ”We know this price is certainly high, but this is indeed the reason human merchants are willing to deliver goods for us. In their minds, sea elves living at the bottom of the sea aren’t much better than the Shark-heads.”

Hill sighed, ”But I’m not a human merchant. Agleya City would not treat you, a branch of the elves, this way.”

The sea elf gently shook his head, ”We can’t take back the materials, Lord Hill, just give us something more casually! We won’t leave Dancing Dolphin Bay without Teresina’s return, so storing more food is good.”

He patted the big head of the dolphin beside him, showing a gentle smile.

It seemed that because of these dolphins’ refusal to leave, the sea elves insisted on staying here. Hill couldn’t invite them to his place anymore.

But before sending off these sea elves, he advised, ”If there’s any emergency and you cannot contact Saezelra, do come to Agleya. At present, there’s no enemy on the Ferun Great Land that can make me fear.”

The sea elves solemnly thanked Hill and, with a group of dolphins and their kin, turned around and went back to Dolphin Bay.

For these beings who heavily rely on deities, the coming years will definitely become more difficult. If they maintain this strange peaceful mindset, Hill dare not imagine what kind of oppression they might encounter.

Hill thought that since Ambori couldn’t return temporarily, perhaps these sea elves would be better off letting the Shark-heads move to the outskirts of Dolphin Bay. Though not very smart, at least they have strong destructive power!

Unfortunately, such words are not for him to speak. After all, once things return to normal, those Sharkmen are sure to turn hostile.

He can only hope these sea elves are wiser, as he cannot stay here to protect them. He can only give a protection promise.

As Hill walked back to his study, he couldn’t help but laugh: The devilfish priest of the Demon Prince would be furious to such an extent, apparently that Great Demon indeed had plans in Toril.

Such a straightforward approach is actually quite useful when dealing with demons and devils.

Hill initially thought that being called away from the sea of books by List meant he was almost home, but unexpectedly, Purwell was stopped when passing through the elf-inhabited Mulan.

This time, it was the Elven Royal Fleet on a sea patrol. A Commodore Captain who discovered Hill conveyed General Gael’s wish.

Their goal was simple: they wished to obtain residency rights in Luskan. They had already contacted Lynn, but were refused since Hill was absent.

Hill did not go down to see this captain. Departing the hand of All Gods in Toril, these elves seemed to regain their sense of strength, and their tone became arrogant.

It wasn’t that she showed any disrespect towards Hill; the elves were still very clear about the power of this Lord of Agleya. Not to mention, Agleya has the Teraxil Elves, who are truly terrifying at this time.

Yet their air of superiority was surfacing again, and their condescension towards the currently existing temples in Luskan was evident in their words.

Without divine assistance, these temples might indeed be insignificant to the elves, but that is not permanent. The day will come when the All Gods return!

What then?

The Chaos System never considers consequences.

Hill can understand that this is in an elf’s nature... but he doesn’t like it.

Currently, the elves’ apparent strength is due to one, the times creating heroes, mages being in decline, and the martial-minded elves now having a place to shine. Two, the little dragons raised by Bahamut haven’t grown up yet, still leaving a scarcity of Giant Dragons on the Ferun Great Land.

”List,” Hill suddenly remembered something and called his Tower Spirit, ”keep an eye on Candlekeep’s news.”

This largest library castle in Toril had cost Hill a lot of money... Knowledge is wealth; there, it is not just a saying.

Every year, Candlekeep sends an updated book list to Archmage Lords like Hill. If there are any books related to spells that one desires, they can hire the monks at Candlekeep to copy it for 10,000 gold per book, while ordinary books cost 100 gold each.

The current manager of Candlekeep is only level 30 and doesn’t dare let strongmen like Hill enter the central hall, so they used a very gentle method to take a step back—the high copying fee as a fig leaf for themselves.

Hill once had an inexplicable yearning for Candlekeep, but after receiving the catalog, he completely gave up on it.

Reality, after all, is not novels and games. No matter how powerful the library, it would not easily offend true formidable figures.

But now, the power of Candlekeep could be said to have taken a serious blow, and the arcanists of Naish might attack them at any time. The greed for books is etched in every mage’s bones and blood, regardless of what type of magic.

Hill wouldn’t take action himself... but he wouldn’t mind being the oriole after the mantis catches the cicada, better not to let Baldur’s Gate have the advantage.
