Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 910: Chapter 706: Grandfather, This Is My Agleya

The place at Candlekeep is surrounded by multiple protection spells, and the guarding Magic Arrays are also very powerful. Even a demigod-level mage cannot open a Dimensional Gate there, and there is a silver dragon that has already turned into a ghost. Even if killed, she can resurrect after one day.

If not for this time’s magic plague, these measures would indeed be enough to protect this towering castle at the end of the Lion’s Road, as there are still many Weave Mages around level 30.

But now, these mages are almost useless... Years of sheltered life have made them completely forget how to cast spells without the Weave.

And their enemies must be those Arcanists.

Hill is very sure that the Naise Remnants will take action against there.

If it were just books, those Arcanists might restrain their greed a little, but there are also Arando’s prophecies about the future of Ferun there.

The Naish Arcanists used to sneer at those prophecies, but reality gave them enough lessons. Now that they have gained a powerful opportunity again, they definitely want to avoid making terrible mistakes again.

List solemnly recorded Hill’s request in the Core, knowing that this task is not just for himself but also needs to notify Lynn, Laila, and the Tower Spirit assisting them.

Hill sighed softly, he still had to face those elves: ”Go tell those elves that they can go to Luskan, where the two small islands outside the port are available for them to choose one to station.

But they must promise me never to cause trouble in Luskan, not to speak disrespectfully of other deities, or utter discriminatory words against other races, including Half-Elves.

I can’t demand them to be cautious, but the elves must understand one thing, angering me will definitely result in punishment.

Any elf who dares to make a mistake will be sent directly to a prison in the Agleya Mountains!

I won’t be as tolerant as Coron.”

That newly appeared mountain range was originally located between Agleya City and Neverwinter City, and Hill also gave them some time to consider... but Neverwinter City, satisfied with what remained of Neverwinter Forest, simply did not send anyone to traverse the forest and explore the mountains.

And by now, Neverwinter City has even less courage to dispute the ownership of the mountains with Hill. Before leaving, Hill had already, according to the traditions of Toril, appointed it as the Agleya Mountains.

As long as no one has the ability to raise an objection within a month, then this mountain belongs to Agleya.

Adding the fields to that large lake, Agleya’s current territory is already quite large, almost comparable to Silvermoon City.

List dispersed his figure, going to the whale’s mouth to convey Hill’s will to that group of elves.

Hill sighed silently to himself, the elves should understand, he has enough strength to fulfill his vows.

Luskan, a place meant to fend off half-orcs for the entire Ferun Great Land, is definitely not where Hill would allow these elves to jeopardize local unity and stability.

As for what these guys would do elsewhere, he couldn’t care anymore... Elves only have temporary strength, not like humans who are always a powerful force in Toril, which is inseparable from their arrogant and impulsive nature without long-term thinking.

But besides their powerful strength, they also have a brave and tenacious side, never bowing to enemies, always able to fight to the last second... Towards those inferior to themselves, although their attitude is arrogant, they won’t arbitrarily oppress or insult them.

Hill leaned on his armchair, pressing his forehead and smiling wryly: analyzing back and forth... Isn’t this just the main traits of a villain character in a novel?

Maybe it’s truly like the legend says, that elves were born from the divine blood exuded during the battle between Coron and that Chief Orc God... Inheriting more of his competitive nature.

Only the long years have smoothed their temper, so the longer elves live, the more cunning they become.

Hill’s hand moved, touching the book he was just transcribing, suddenly becoming alert: who cares about all that! He can be lenient with elves for Coron’s sake but needn’t worry for them, considering that even Coron doesn’t care much for the future of Toril elves, why should he!

Better get back to transcribing books!

Probably by tomorrow morning, he’ll have to return to Agleya.

Before that, Hill glanced at the remaining few books on the second row, he has to finish transcribing all of these!

Suddenly going from having his own way to being managed... Hill felt truly both joy and a tinge of pain inside.

Purwell sailed into Agleya’s territorial waters at dawn, then rose into the air.

Hill himself went to knock on Fran’s door, bringing him to the terrace.

”Grandfather, this is my territory, named Agleya.” Hill smiled at Fran, ”A very beautiful little city, isn’t it?”

Fran nodded silently, showing a faint smile.

He gazed at this beautiful city, truly a very standard Hill style. The whole city is full of natural aura, with quite a few pedestrians despite the early hour, yet still giving a feeling of tranquility.

The architectural style is also very consistent. Even though it is clearly divided into two parts, it doesn’t give any abrupt feeling.

The whale carrying them leisurely flew towards the exquisite castle floating mid-air, and a dozen little flower fairies fluttering their wings, accompanied by a flock of white swans, came to greet them.

”Hill~” Vila raised her voice and shouted, ”Why are you back so early? Lynn said you would be out for at least a year! Did you encounter something good again?”

Then she saw Fran, dressed in a gray robe: ”You have a guest... Do you really have such an old friend?”

”This is my grandfather, Vila.” Unable to stop the little flower fairy’s loose tongue in time, Hill could only say with a helpless tone, ”You need to be respectful, and be warned that if you get punished by my grandfather for pranks, don’t come to plead with me or complain.

I will only side with my grandfather.”

Vila immediately put on a serious face: ”I will behave.”

Then she sneaked a few glances at Fran and then at Hill’s earnest expression, adding, ”I will be absolutely honest, and I will keep the other little flower fairies in check. I swear by our friendship.”

For Vila, her friendship with Hill is a very cherished treasure, something she absolutely cannot lose.

The little fairies, despite their quirks, when truly trusted and loved, become even more devoted.

But if betrayed by someone they trust so much, they would instantly turn into a Sorrowful and Angry Fairy: entering a relentless revenge mode.

Hill nodded in satisfaction. Oberon’s fairy spirits and the swan fairies were the type who didn’t like pranks, and because of Vila, there were none of those deceitful gnomes in Agleya here. As for the pixies who liked to make people lose their way, they were generally harmless.

As long as the little flower fairies stayed honest, it would be fine, and Vila should have judged how serious Hill was through his words.

Fran quietly observed Hill’s little friend; it was his first time seeing the legendary little fairy. He had heard stories of these little beings in the world he arrived at before, Aber, but had never seen them.

Once the Force of Nature in a world declined, little fairies would naturally disappear from that world. No one knew whether they moved away or perished.

But he remembered, even if someone could befriend a little fairy, it was generally pure-hearted children... How did Hill gain the recognition of these little guys?

His grandson, though kind and simple, was definitely not to the extent of being pure-hearted... No mage thought being pure and childish was a compliment.

But that Hill could control these little fairies, Fran didn’t find strange, knowing Hill’s talents well.

”Grandfather, this is Vila, my good friend and leader of the flower fairies.” Hill introduced the proud Vila to his grandfather.

After they greeted each other, Hill handed the part of the books he had copied to Fran, then floated the massive bookshelf preparing to return to the castle.

List had already begun directing the puppets to remodel the half of the tower initially arranged for Terry and his group to reside, especially the Alchemy Laboratory, which must be set up to the highest level. The Alchemy Array inside could be left for Fran to modify himself.

Even though the Alchemist Master owned his Magic Tower, List didn’t think Hill would let his grandfather live alone in isolation.

Seeing Fran had paused, Hill quickly turned back and said, ”Grandfather, there’s another set of books in the castle, along with some popular newspapers and magazines from Toril, which I haven’t taken to the Magic Tower.

You can take your time reading them... There is also a brochure called the Candlekeep Catalog, which you can check after reading my collection here to see if there’s anything you want from there. The books there are all available for purchase.”

Fran smiled, satisfied.

Then they heard Lynn’s voice coming from upstairs: ”Hill, what happened? Why are you back early? Did you get something you shouldn’t again?”

Fran gave his grandson a curious look.

If only one friend said this, he might not have felt anything... But this evidently more composed Half-Elf said the same... It seemed Hill’s luck might not always be a good thing?

Feeling his grandfather’s gaze, Hill gave a helpless smile: ”The relationships among the Toril Gods are too complex, and many Divine Artifacts and Subartifacts have floated around, getting involved with them can easily tie you to those deities, so you have to push them away as much as possible.”

Then he introduced the already-rushing Lynn to Fran.

While they were exchanging, Hill glanced at the huge Golden Oak in the castle’s front yard: Oberon had sealed himself within that oak tree.

Even within Purwell’s body, the Lord of Beasts sensed the World Will’s rejection of him, so to avoid returning to Shady Home, he chose to sleep, merging directly with an oak tree.

What a pity that he couldn’t introduce this extremely handsome little fairy to his grandfather.

Then Hill quickly walked over, he had to stop Lynn, who had already started revealing secrets.
