Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 920: Chapter 716: A Small Episode Amidst the Battle...

Looking at List, Hill decided to be a bit cautious.

”It might be the remnants of the Santalin, those fleeing necromancers.” He shook his head, ”This is just my guess, let Laila and the others not fully trust this judgment.”

”Yes, sir.”

List went directly to inform Lucy, while Hill quietly looked east: Necromancers... is their target Luskan or Mirabar, which has a gemstone mine and two iron mines?

Although Luskan’s minerals are more useful to them.

But even at their strongest, they couldn’t deal with the Undead Tribe, now relying solely on their own control of the undead, there’s even less hope, right?

Hill pondered for a while... slowly recalling something.

The mine below the Snow Palace indeed does not only have one exit above, there are also two winding escape routes.

One leads to the World’s Ridge, the other to the cliff on the coast.

Hill scratched his hair tail, feeling a bit helpless... This is related to Lucy’s safety, not just these two passages, even some tiny cracks, Hill had blocked them.

This doesn’t require much effort from him, the Earth will respond to his expectations on its own.

What he truly changed was the soil properties of the mine’s outer layer; up and down including underground were turned into hard Ilujin Stone by him. This rock originally comes from the Water Elemental Plane, its hardness is no less than Obsidian, but its magical conductivity is different; it only has hydrophilicity and can assist the growth of Water Element or Ice Series mineral veins.

Very suitable for use in Luskan, anyone trying to dig in with Earth magic will not find it so easy.

However, outside the ten meters thickness of Ilujin Stone, Hill also transformed over 30 meters thickness of rock layer... relying on the relentless digging of the undead, Hill doubted even if half-orcs perished, they might not accomplish it.

Most importantly, what could the Earth hide from Hill’s perception? Probably, he’ll feel it as soon as they start digging.

But he didn’t want to expose his Ilujin Stone so early, Hill decided to issue a task to the Undead Tribe when those guys dig halfway through the rock layer, calling them out to block the doors.

Hmm... Don’t these followers of Bane intend to eliminate the Arcane Brotherhood and occupy Luskan from the start?

To gain such trust from the half-orcs, it can’t be a short-term thing.

Hill couldn’t help but chuckle, but their luck is too poor; the opponents instantly changed from the Arcane Brotherhood, who barely can use spells, and a group of scattered pirates to the Undead Tribe.

But this also means that even if Luskan chooses to shrink entirely, not blocking the path for the half-orcs to move south, they couldn’t survive... After all, there are insiders, the Santalin Meeting has always coveted Luskan, sending in dozens of spies, they’re not like those pirates who could leave anytime; the worst is a grocery store owner.

And it’s well-known, to open a shop in an Evil Faction city without being robbed, the person backing them must have a status and ability not lower than a sheriff.

However, these things don’t matter anymore.

No matter who the insider is, the major massacre by the Undead Tribe resolved it all... Hill knows how many spies of the Santalin Meeting are there entirely thanks to the Undead Tribe’s excellent ability to search for hidden materials: even digging a copper coin-sized Church of Bane badge from deep underground.

Hill looked at the fierce battle below, feeling a strange sense of drama.

Those Toril people guarding their defensive areas, fighting hard still show the intensity of the battle, with a bit of passionate sentiment.

The Undead Tribe simply plunged into a revelry, truly cheering while fighting.

Mindless opponents are their favorite... no need to consider tactics, just casually release skills.

Hill tilted his head, his gaze suddenly froze... that Toril child in the Undead Tribe faction... Edna?

He turned his head and searched, Laila was also on the city wall, sitting sideways in a two-story tower facing the mountain that has only 50 meters length short segment of city wall, which is the last defense area given to the Luskan Defense Force.

Compared to the elves who have a 1000-meter defense area, it is truly incomparable; however, the elves occupy the city wall on the port side, the north side of the Ice Snow Tower.

The middle Ice Snow Tower is handed over to the Undead Tribe... that freezing sensation rising from the soles can’t be blocked by just two meters high stone walls, only the Undead Tribe with a discounted sense of touch can stay there for a long time.

The two ice cities on the Mirar River are under the control of the Undead Tribe, and they are basically dispatched in ice series professions, fighting while augmenting their own city walls.

The other side of the 500-meter city wall on the port is assigned to the Agleya City Guards.

Hill estimates the Temporal Artifact planned to grab people directly to mediate whenever the Undead Tribe accidentally provoke the Mulan Elves.

A tall arrow tower blocks between the Undead Tribe and the elves’ defense zone on the mountain side, making dialogue almost impossible.

As for the Temple Army, they were all positioned on the other side of the Mirar River, where the walls on both sides were over 500 meters long, assigned to the temples of Tyr and Heim.

The Tapas War Guard, whose main ability is to assist in combat, didn’t come in large numbers, so they were simply placed on the inner side of the wall to wait and repair weapons and manufacture arrows for the two temple armies.

Even though they were assigned to the flank battleground, the Temporal Artifact didn’t plan to let them support themselves. Behind these four troops stood rows of Undead Female Priests, mostly the little loli types.

Whether it’s the proud Elves or the stiff-tempered Paladins, they won’t easily lose their temper with children, especially pretty little girls.

With only a 50-meter defense zone, the Luskan Defense Force actually had Undead family legions on both sides, which Hill didn’t recognize but judging from their stance, they were also the most adept in battles, and a small group of Priests kept an eye on these somewhat troublesome NPCs.

It seemed the Temporal Artifact gave them the NPC protection task, paying per count.

What to say... William is getting better at making people work honestly. Hill doesn’t think this defense style is designed by the logical top-tier Temporal Artifact.

Looks like Teraxil really has nothing to do right now; William is quite idle!

After joyfully inspecting a round, Hill looked back at the defense zone of the Black Rose... so why is Miss Edna standing there?

Hill always knew she had a good relationship with the ’Old Age Striking King’, but has the relationship gotten so good that she’s willing to risk her life to be in the battle zone?

Why doesn’t Laila manage this... Hill suddenly remembered... that Laila herself was that kind of crazy little sister who ran away from home at a young age to go on adventures.

Edna didn’t count as rebellious at all in this lady’s eyes.

Watching the little girl, holding the standard magic wand of the Undead Tribe... the kind that can throw a small fireball every 20 seconds, fiercely slamming alongside her friend under the wall, Hill just wants to know... if there was another collapse in Toril, would it count on him or Correlan?

Hill quietly stared at Miss Edna, with her beautiful twin ponytails and spinning stars atop her head, fiercely screaming every time she successfully hits an enemy with a fireball, feeling a sense of despair... this must be counted on Correlan!

Wait... Hill gazing at the little girl learning how to dodge long-range attacks and use trickery by observing the ’Old Age Striking King’, even wearing a thick cloth vest under her robe like the Striking King... can she die again?

Even if AO creates another chance for Cyric and Shaer, Hill doesn’t think Midnight will have any issues... at that time, what she might be wearing is Crystal Armor that doesn’t obstruct spellcasting.

The God Above Gods has always been about creating opportunities, but if not seized, he wouldn’t make it so apparent; All Gods won’t let him play around that easily, all calculations must be under the table.

Hill suddenly frowned as he couldn’t self-console anymore.

The girl was cursing along with the ’Old Age Striking King’ line by line: ”Half-brained trash!”

”Even dying, you won’t find a nice place!”

”I’ll count 3, 2, 1, and throw another fireball! Ah! Gotcha!

Eh~ can’t you even dodge?”

”Do you know how to count 1, 2, 3? Fool! Even beasts can count better than you!”

Hill’s sofa slightly turned direction, and now he needed to focus on matters with the Temple Army... Edna’s the child of Laila’s niece! A more worthy identity is merely being the lineage of past generations of Mystra and the Deity of Mages.

Other than that, he knows nothing.

Tsk! Just thinking that if she returns, should she still act this way when fighting other deities... he must make sure he forgets this too!

Hill decided secretly, and after returning to Agleya, he must remind Lynn to firmly keep this event to himself.

The half-orcs’ attack seemed brutal and terrifying, with the Luskan walls on all four sides entering intense battle, but for the Undead Tribe, the fierceness was less than their own internal siege battles.

The half-orc weapons are too weak; their true power lies in their massive strength, foul stench, and bloodthirsty aura, but this affects only those Toril people.

Relying solely on power... they can’t even reach the walls; the spells released by the Undead Tribe are virtually endless.

Over there with the Elves, is an endless rain of arrows, while at the Paladin side, some shoot arrows, others throw spears and short javelins, primarily determined by whether their main attribute is strength or agility.

Elves originally wanted to craft their own arrows, believing only they could make arrows best suited for themselves.

However, they swiftly focused all attention on the Undead Tribe’s offer of cheap prices and virtually unlimited supply, overriding any fussiness with these two factors.

Anyway, the differences aren’t that significant... right?
