Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 936: Chapter 732: Edna’s Worldview Shattered

Elvia Tulais observes those Teraxil Elves out of the corner of her eye; these guys are too strong… There’s no longer any space for White Dragons to survive on the Ice Plain.

Mirabar has now turned into a vassal of Luskan; the Mirar Coast, once ravaged by White Dragons, has completely changed owners.

People might say White Dragons seem weak, but it depends on who they’re compared to.

Low intelligence doesn’t mean they can’t kill other animals… they’re just weak during their infancy. Without a mother dragon to guide them, life is tough; but stealing leftover carrion from adult dragons and digging up Ice Plain mice still allows them to survive.

So, unlike the half-orcs living atop the World’s Ridge eating those moss snow bugs, White Dragons actually live below mid-mountain level, and once they’re grown enough for their energy reaction to be dissipated by the special environment of the World’s Ridge, they move down to the Ice Plain below the peaks.

On the Northern Ice Field, could there possibly be any creatures stronger than White Dragons?

Other Giant Dragons hardly tolerate such cold climates.

But since Luskan changed owners, Elvia Tulais had been secretly observing for a long time, and now understands the good days for White Dragons are completely over.

Even if she joins forces with Arausato, there’s no hope at all.

Elvia Tulais collected her scattered thoughts, like an arrow that has been shot and cannot be retrieved, regretting is no longer an option.

She lowered her posture as much as possible, extending her slender head before Edna: “You have a good relationship with those Teraxil Elves… So do you understand if there’s still any place for White Dragons on the Ice Plain?

Olypher probably doesn’t dare do anything; what can we do?

Leaving here… where can so many White Dragons survive?

Even if I don’t care about other dragons’ lives, mine is still very precious!

Leaving the icy bay, I’d be the first one knocked off…”

Hill couldn’t help but chuckle hearing this.

Enemies of Elvia Tulais span across all of Ferun, and they are Evil Faction Giant Dragons… Rather, the hatred isn’t as deep with Kind Alignment Metal Dragons; at most, they’d fight if they met, but wouldn’t chase her down across great distances to kill her.

Primarily, daily life of the White Dragon Queen involves black against black, and those who get involved with pirates are generally the other types of Chromatic Dragons.

And any mage who accepts pirate commissions to kill her… dying at her hands is well-deserved. Truly powerful Archmages see her former master’s status and wouldn’t easily lay hands on her, while those who don’t even know Elvia Tulais once had a Mage Master… are at most level 12 or 13.

These are the ones who earned her the reputation of ‘Mage Killer,’ as Elvia Tulais thoroughly understands mages’ casting habits and is particularly skilled at using the moment waves fly up for quick hunts.

“But why me?” Edna remained completely unmoved, having spent long periods with the Undead Tribe, she’s good at grabbing the key point; otherwise, Sanda King’s eccentric companions could confuse her with their babble.

Even if they got smacked by Sanda King, those people would still shout things like ‘Little Loli is forever divine’ and resistlessly chat with her.

However, Edna never felt any malice from them… It just seemed like they enjoyed seeing her flustered. Initially, she didn’t care, but after it happened multiple times, Edna couldn’t hold back and could only fight back… Now, she’s particularly skilled at locating the singular important topic within a barrage of meaningless words and utilizing it.

This White Dragon was right; doesn’t seem like they’re lying, but since she’s seeking a backer, why Edna?

Isn’t Elvia Tulais good friends with Ms. Laila? Why not choose that powerful Chosen one?

“You know Laila is the Chosen of the Goddess of Magic, right?” Elvia Tulais hesitated for a moment, lightly flapped her wings, “Then, do you know Mystra belongs to the Kind Alignment?”

Edna nodded: “I know.”

She tilted her head, curiously asking: “But the Lord of Agleya is also Orderly Good! I have to follow the rules here.”

“He is not part of the Orderly Camp! He’s Neutral Good!” Elvia Tulais grinned, “Don’t just listen to what he says. Clearly, he’s emphasizing order simply to have his city folk abide by the law.

But he’s not the type that treats the Evil Faction like facing a mortal enemy with an iron head.

True Orderly Good would never allow pirates to buy goods in their territorial shops.

Of course… that’s not the key point… In Toril, even an Orderly Good lord knows what it means to turn a blind eye…”

Elvia Tulais, witnessing Edna’s confused gaze, said earnestly: “But deities are different!

Especially Mystra, she’s in charge of the Weave… Yet she can’t even serve as a tool.

The Weave reflects the source power of Toril, and this world has never rejected the appearance of the Evil Faction… She, as the manager of the Weave, expresses a visible hostility towards the Evil Faction, which is utterly mad!

The Goddess of Magic should be Neutral, shouldn’t have any inclination!

It’s perfectly normal for her to end up like this… You know, between Mystra and the Weave, the real winner is the Weave!

The Gatekeeper, that thing can be replaced just like that… Even a Goddess of Magic can completely vanish!

Tsk tsk, to be taken down by Cyric in her own backyard… The Weave must really hate her!”

Hill listened numbly as Elvia Tulais and Edna discussed why Mystra died this time, slumping on the sofa in frustration. Never mind, just let it be… Why hasn’t Laila stopped her indiscreet friend yet?

Hill definitely wouldn’t get involved… He wouldn’t let Edna know that he watched the whole thing!

Elvia Tulais ‘giggled’ a few times, probably thinking that Edna, who had suffered at the hands of Mystra’s electors, must enjoy hearing about her enemy’s misfortune, entirely missing the girl’s expressionless face.

“But, to be honest… I don’t really dislike the current Mystra,” Elvia Tulais suddenly said with a sigh. “After all, in a place like Toril, it’s rare to see someone, whether a person or a deity, who insists on being themselves.

The only question is whether to choose between life and dignity…

She chose her dignity and tried to stick to her love, which is fine, as long as she’s strong enough… Unfortunately, she exposed her intentions too early without being irreplaceably strong, so naturally, she was taught a lesson.

I’m a mundane dragon without such lofty dreams… I’d give up anything for my life.

That’s why I don’t want to get involved with her electors… Who knows if she’ll become more sensible or become more extreme after being taught a lesson?

Everyone thought she might compromise… but…”

The White Dragon lowered her voice: “It’s been so long… this Goddess hasn’t summoned her electors… That’s making many people very uneasy, you know?

A normal goddess, upon descending to the mortal realm, should call her followers to pilgrimage, and in times of danger, ask her electors to complete the great mission of saving the goddess!

But Mystra hasn’t made a sound… By normal logic, she couldn’t be in a safe place… Otherwise, what kind of lesson would that be, so she can’t possibly exist in a state of unrecovered memories.

Yet she’s not summoning her electors… Not even the Preaching Mage has any news of her…

Laila choosing to find a new path for herself rather than holding on with Kelben is actually related to this.

She returned to Deepwater City with her child, thinking Mystra would seek help from Kelben… but nothing happened!

That famous Black Staff Mage is now dumbfounded… He’s already offended so many people and forces, if he can’t keep Mystra in his control, then he’s utterly finished.

Laila wouldn’t take her child and you all to accompany Kelben into the Abyss.”

Hill hugged his legs, buried his head in his knees, trying hard to control the big smile on his face: Heavens! He almost laughed out loud like a goose!

He really didn’t know that Mystra’s electors possessed such amusing and imaginative ideas, their creativity almost reaching to another dimension of the Aberleigh Planet!

Edna’s large eyes were filled with confusion, she felt something was off, but since the adults thought so… Could it be that Mystra really plans to take revenge on the world?

She slowly said, “So you’re worried about Laila getting into trouble in the future, and that’s why you don’t want to be tied to her? Aren’t you friends?”

Elvia Tulais said in a peculiar tone: “Laila and Kelben have been married for hundreds of years!

Once love is gone, they immediately fall apart.

You’re still young, so you don’t understand; never expect too much from your friends… How many people can put friends above their own life?

Don’t believe those epic tales or knight novels boasting… In this world, only things so rare that everyone would marvel at them get celebrated.

Friendship only needs sincerity, like us: even if I’m sincerely selfish, Laila understands.

Before becoming friends with me, she knew I was an evil and selfish White Dragon!

You can’t be friends with a White Dragon and expect her to act like the ironclad knights of the House of Tyr towards you, right?

Having a friend who doesn’t lie to you, you can count yourself lucky!”

Edna silently nodded, her young worldview shattered, her face full of confusion, but she knew very well that the Sanda King Sister not stopping Elvia Tulais meant she thought there was nothing wrong with what the White Dragon said.

Then she shook her head vigorously, resolutely saying: “But you only said why you couldn’t choose Laila! So, why me?”

Elvia Tulais didn’t know how the girl in front of her was taught, but she knew she had to reveal part of the truth now.
