As A Maid, I Can Fix Her!

Chapter 94: Chapter 93 - An Exclusive Contract Magic Book

Numerous invisible arrows filled the Duchess’s body, and she groaned in pain from the Head Maid’s onslaught of facts. As a good apprentice maid, I’ll pretend to be innocent and clueless about it.

In a critical situation like this, I feel grateful to be trapped in the body of an innocent girl.

Well, no insane person would take a little girl’s honesty as sarcasm, right?

I hope so, considering that ”person” is in front of me, and she is also a mother who is full of love for her daughter.

”T-That’s enough, Mell.”

”M-My heart was so fragile when I heard that. Is there such a crazy people in this world doing that?” the Duchess said, changing the conversation, claiming her innocence in every word the Head Maid said.

The Head Maid just smiled and blinked at me, as if saying I had done something great with her.

I just smiled stiffly after seeing her wink.

”Isn’t that... YOU?? Ohh... my esteemed Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld...” the Head Maid retorted with a direct attack.

Sttaabb...

Sttaabbb...

This time, I saw a giant, invisible arrow shoot out of the Head Maid’s mouth and pierce Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s body. She collapsed onto a chair with a haggard expression, a faint smile on her face as she lamented her strange fate.

”Cough!!” She stifled a cough; no physical wounds were visible. There was only an inner wound in her heart.

The Head Maid achieved this small victory. She demonstrated the art of defeating a high-ranking noble with sweet words filled with undeniable facts.

”My esteemed Duchess, please drink slowly. You’re coughing like this.”

”Is my tea that good that make you coughing?” the Head Maid asked with a slight smirk on her lips.

The Head Maid’s bold criticism of the Duchess inspired me to do the same ”things” to Master Reina. She wouldn’t have paid attention to ordinary words; because she was only interested in sweet, sarcastic remarks.

As far as I understand, Master Reina shares a resemblance to her mother. She’s a bit stubborn and works hard to achieve her goals. If sarcastic words could control her behavior, then I would doing that as a control tool for her behavior.

I’ll have to test that out after being alone with Master Reina.

Swiipp...

Swwiippp...

My thoughts that were daydreaming about Master Reina’s future behavior control plans were suddenly blurred by the Head Maid’s hand pulling on my cheek.

”Thinking about something unimportant in bright day, Liliana?” the Head Maid asked in a soft and polite tone.

In hwe hands suddenly hold a white paper with the words ”Exclusive Contract” written on it, with the names of Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld and Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg at the top. Their signatures had been sealed with magic, protecting to illegally tamper, and signifying that this exclusive contract was a legal in Belfast Kingdom.

I stared at the white paper with the exclusive contract attached. Then continued reading the top section, which stated that the magic book handwriting was in my possession.

”Uh, what am I reading?” I muttered in a low voice.

My expression stiffened after reading the main part. The magic book I was writing had been granted protection by the Duke and Marquess families. It was strange, as most of the content was just my personal experiences as a novice mage.

”Aren’t you happy to see your handwritten magic book receiving the protection of Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg and Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld laws?” the Head Maid said, wiggling her fingers and pulling my cheeks wide open.

Sqquueesshh...

Sqquueesshh...

”W-What does that mean, Head Maid?” I asked further while holding back the pain in my cheek.

I actually understand the contents of this exclusive contract.

In the lawsuit language of my past life, it’s a contract declaring me the copyright owner of my handwritten magic book is mine. As long as this exclusive contract is in effect, no fool would claim it as their own works.

I think the Duchess and Marchioness wanted to protect my handwritten magic book from the hands of those mischievous people who claimed to be its creator.

”It’s simple. That means... no one has the right to doubt the contents of your handwritten magic book after it was reviewed by the greatest witch in the Kingdom of Belfast and the scariest woman the Kingdom of Belfast has ever seen...”

”...” I tried my best not to respond to Head Maid sarcasm.

Even in the midst of her explanation, the Head Maid continued to mercilessly hit Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld with sweet talk. She had been overwhelmed by the Head Maid’s numerous facts and sarcasm, but that didn’t make her down.

Instead feeling down and broken heart, the Duchess glanced at the Head Maid with her sharp, red eyes.

”Oh, that’s wrong...”

”The truth is... a beautiful woman who hates talentless mages and their bullshit random theories, Mell!”

”You wouldn’t want to read a fake, carelessly written magic book, would you?” the Duchess asked me, and her tears slowly down on her cheeks.

The impact of the Head Maid’s sarcasm shattered the Duchess’s emotions until her eyes filled with tears that rolled down her cheeks.

She looked at me as if begging me to turn to her side.

From the start, I didn’t side with the Head Maid or the Duchess, so I just tilted my head and stared at her in puzzle expression.

I thought it over in my head. I gently scratched my cheek and rested my chin on it as if I were thinking hard. I also closed my eyes to appear like I was seriously considering an answer.

”Yeah, reading a random bullshit magic books is really annoying...” I said in a heavy tone and held back my voice to sound hesitant.

”If I found a magic book like that, I would definitely be angry and go to the shop that sells the magic book. Ask for the address of the author of the magic book so I can get in touch... some violence”

”And I would be satisfied with burning down his or her house, even more satisfied if I could meet the author of the magic book and do something to it.”

”Well, there’s bound to be some irritation. Also it’ll feel good to satisfy that irritation, right?” I replied with a smile, echoing Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s words.

By playing with my answer that has various meanings, I opened the gap to two different positions, either supporting the Head Maid with her little sarcasm or supporting Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld with reasonable reasons.

Saving myself is more important right now.

”Did you hear that, Mell?” the Duchess said, feeling a small sense of victory after being trampled on by the Head Maid’s sarcasm.

”With all due respect, my Duchess. I also feel the same way when reading cookbooks with bullshit measurements. The differences in magic techniques are wide, and so are cooking techniques. Some are careless with their ingredients, but if cooked correctly... it can turn out delicious. Magic is the same, isn’t it?” said the Head Maid with a reasonable rebuttal.

I was thinking about that too.

Cooking and learning magic through magic book are on the same side of the coin.

What makes the difference is technique, experience, and courage in discovering something new.

”Kuuuhhh...” the Duchess bit her lip, feeling the defeat of logic that made her smile wryly.

She waved her hand at me, asking me to come closer, and wanted me to do something to improve her mood.

Sqquueesshh...

Sqquueesshh...

I wanted to answer the Duchess’s call as soon as possible, but I was in the arms of the Head Maid who was playing with my cheeks.

”Mell, let go of Liliana...”

”It’s time to hug my favorite innocent maid...”

”My heart is already too broken by the reality of what happened recently...”

”Let me save my soul by embracing Liliana...”

The Head Maid sighed and pulled the exclusive contract paper from my hands.

”Sure, my honorable Duchess. But you must add the author’s royalties to Liliana. Every magic book printed in the Kingdom of Belfast must pay Liliana one gold coin.”

”I already see Liliana’s has a great magical abilities. And she’s not too cheap to get her writing royalties.”

”If you really care about Liliana’s future, make sure she can live a peaceful life as a professional maid.”

For some reason, this conversation turned to my retirement savings. It’s just a magic book that I wrote using knowledge from a living magic book in my bedroom. There is no new knowledge of magic other than discovering magic techniques that conform to the rules of magic in this novel world.

Uhm, will my second life end up as an author of magic books or novels again?

I don’t know, but that’s what the Head Maid was thinking.

”I-I know, what I wrote in the exclusive contract was one hundred silver coins to one hundred gold coins. It all depends on the content of the magic book. Read it carefully, Mell!”

”I’ve read it, Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld. But, you’re using wrong words. Don’t use authorship royalty with ranges income like that. Just make sure Liliana gets a large sum of money as the proud maid of Duke Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s family!”

”W-Why are you so passionate about this, Mell?” the Duchess replied, her face starting to give up.

”Yes, Because I can see Liliana’s bright future after doing something unexpected before!” the Head Maid replied quickly.

Sqquueeesshhh...

Sqquueessshhh...

The Head Maid said that with a smile on her face, boosting my self-esteem even higher than it already was.

I don’t hate this big hope, it’s just...

I don’t really like to fulfill those ambitions and hopes...

Kiirraaaa...

Kiiirraa...

Besides the Head Maid, who was staring at me with sparkling eyes, Master Reina and Master Amagi also stared at me with sparkling eyes, too. Those who didn’t speak seemed to agree with the Head Maid’s words.

”Hmm~ That’s true. I’ll make sure Liliana gets a one hundred gold coin royalty when her magic book is published in my territory,” said the Marchioness as she sipped her tea with an elegant attitude.

”S-Shinano... please don’t get involved in this trivial matter.”

”I’m not to be involved. I just appreciate Liliana’s hard work and her brilliant ideas in magic,” Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg replied, looking at the Head Maid with a smile.

Yup, it’s confirmed...

She joined in on this little mess...
