As A Maid, I Can Fix Her!

Chapter 71: Chapter 70 - Four Personality Magic Book

In this novel’s world, I’ve written some things that don’t make sense. One of them is a magic book that are sentient, can talk, and think. The sentience magic book can imitate human is an optional intelligence, just to differentiate them from ordinary magic book.

Right before my eyes, the forbidden magic book flapped its cover like wings. It flew low in front of me and conveyed its frustration.

”Remember this, little human.”

”You have to treat books well.”

”Only fools treat unread books as a chair rest. That does not reflect the actions of an elegant and highly intellectual human being.”

”You should read often and consider this world a mysterious place without information from books.”

My head felt dizzy after listening to magic book sweet nonsense. As a magic book that upholds the lore of magic, it’s highly taboo to equate it with an encyclopedia.

”Well, I’m not interested in that kind of thing.”

”By the way... Fireball...” answering it without being interested in her nonsense, I cast the Fireball magic spell in the form of a pointed fireball like a gas lighter.

Swoosh!!

A small ball of fire appeared on my finger, forming a spiky flame that pushed upwards, and I pointed my finger at the forbidden magic book.

”Hey! Heeeyy!! This is not a funny joke!”

”Keep the fire away from books or flammable objects.”

”This room will burn to ashes!”

The closer I got to the forbidden magic book, the more I saw its panicked expression as it tried to fly away. Playing with the forbidden magic book in this painful way... somehow felt good like teasing little girl.

Could it be... this is the tease that Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg often pulls?

I’m starting to understand the fun of this tease...

Looking at the forbidden magic book that is afraid of being burned... It is very funny.

”I was just kidding... Fuuuhh~,” I said while blowing on the tip of my finger that emitted fire from the Fireball chant.

”Don’t joke around in such a scary way!”

”You’re joking in scary way, too. What kind of magic book suddenly flies off with both its outer skin covers?” I asked, looking at the forbidden magic book.

”There’s no other way. That’s all I can do!”

”Ugh, flying with a book cover made of human skin? That’s like joking creepily, you know...”

”W-What else can I do?! Because I was born this way!” she said in a loud, shrill voice.

Luckily, it was just me in the room, and the other maids hadn’t returned yet.

”Don’t shout in my room.”

”You’re the one who made me scream!”

With these colorful expressions, I understood why Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg liked to tease her in such harsh and inhumane ways. These living magic books essentially had innate personalities. Some were calm like stray dogs, some were fierce like stray cats, and some were as annoying as raccoons living in the city.

As for the magic book in front of me, she has a chatty personality and is honest with her feelings. She doesn’t hesitate to comment on my misbehavior.

”You’ve been the one screaming all this time,” I replied as I tidied up the dressing table and put the quill in a safe place.

The magic book I’m writing in is left open to dry the wet ink. It’s not too wet and has soaked into the paper perfectly, but just in case, I’ll leave my magic book open for a while.

”Because you made me scream!” the forbidden magic book replied, glancing at me with its red eyes.

I held the forbidden magic book with both of my hands.

”W-What are you going to do?”

”Tie you to a rock and drown you at the bottom of the river?”

”Y-You cruel human... Like demon!”

A cruel accusation was leveled at me.

”How cruel of you to accuse me like that. I just want to understand you. You know the term saying... if you don’t know, you won’t love, right?”

”Uh, where did that weird term come from?”

”It comes from a faraway place. Not even known by the forbidden magic books that have existed for hundreds of years.”

”I’m not that old!”

Talking to a forbidden magic book is a lot like talking to an AI built for customer service. Its unique and energetic style of speech is too amusing to be dismissed as a doorstop.

”It’s been over three centuries, right?” I asked with another joke.

”I-I have reach that age... but I’m not that old!”

An ancient forbidden magic book that refuses to grow old. Like an eternally youthful housewife who refuses to admit she’s old. It’s a natural attitude; I, too, will refuse to grow old.

Um, with Liliana’s current age...

Yup, I’m not that old...

I will stay young in this novel world!

I’ll make sure it happens!

”Yes, I’ll assume that’s true until your real age is revealed.”

”Just assume it’s true; what’s so hard about it...” She grumbled uniquely and moved her red eyeballs to the side.

Holding a forbidden magic book with throbbing skin like this is like holding a hairless cat. It’s so amusing in a positive, warm way.

”I was wondering... would you have any bruises after getting hit with wooden sword?” I asked innocently with a wide smile.

”Of all the questions... you’re curious about that?!!”

This forbidden magic book’s anger-provoking technique was so hilarious. I was starting to get addicted to it, constantly trying to provoke it. Its irritated eyes glared at me, and its body twitched in my grasp, as if it wanted to escape.

”You’re as crazy as that woman!”

”There’s no difference, and it’s worse!”

”Can any human treat a forbidden magic book well?”

”I don’t want to live with this cruel world!” said the forbidden magic book, with tears falling.

Her tears hit my hand, wetting the craving writing that was clearly visible after it got wet.

[ Whatever this forbidden magic book says is a lie based on its personality characteristics. ]

[ This forbidden magic book has four different personalities that can be rearranged by poking the eyes until they change color. ]

[ Red eye color with sarcastic personality, green eye color with calm personality, blue eye color with gentle personality, and yellow eye color with innocent personality. ]

”Ohh...” I muttered after reading it.

A personality that can change after poking it eyes?

What kind of genius dares to do that?

Poking someone’s eyes... it feels a bit uncomfortable for my well-mannered self.

Nyyuutt...

I don’t want to do it... but I’m curious about the truth.

”GGAAHHH!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!”

My finger accidentally poked hee eye. The sensation of cold water running down my finger and a scream echoed through the room.

”MY EYES!! YOU POKE MY EYES!!”

With that scream, I saw the color of her eyes change. The red eyes turned green, soft like a tranquil forest. The book’s human-skinned cover transformed into small grasses, and tiny flowers adorned her eyes.

”Eh?” I couldn’t hold back that little murmur any longer.

A living magic book that can change personalities?

I think, I wrote something about this in my novel, but where?

There’s a lot of confusion I’m trying to figure out right now. But I’ll focus on the magic book in my hand.

”Oh? New owner? I haven’t seen such an interesting new owner in a long time.”

”Where did you get me from?” the forbidden magic book said, but I ignored it and opened the first page.

I couldn’t contain my surprise when I discovered a new magic spell related to plant magic. Besides plant-related magic, there are several alchemical skills specifically listed at the end of this magic book. Half of the pages of the magic book studied plant magic, and the rest studied alchemical techniques.

Oh, Marchioness Shinano VII Lichtberg...

What kind of hopes do you want to see in the future?

This horrible magic book investment will make me addicted to studying magic.

Gluupp...

I swallowed my own saliva after seeing the ten-thousand-page list of alchemist potions.

”A magic book this thick... it has ten thousand pages??” I said in a questioning tone.

”A normal magic book wouldn’t be as thick as mine. It will continue to grow as my new owner writes new notes in it,” it replied in a calm tone.

”This magic book... can still have more pages?!” I continued with endless surprise.

Now I understand. This is a living magic book with a personality that represents its contents. The red eyes, with the main cover made of human skin, contain forbidden magic that is legal in the Kingdom of Belfast, and these green eyes are identical to plant magic, which is related to the basic abilities of alchemists.

”Isn’t this kind of information very valuable?”

”Why did Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg give it to me?”

”Wouldn’t it be better to give it to Master Amagi?”

Cttiingg!!

My head aches with my old memories as a writer of this novel world.

The vague memory mentioned a secret magic and a treasure belonging to Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg’s family: a sacred magic book with a yellow eye cover and filled with sacred magic incantations.

”Ah, so that’s how it is...”

”This magic book will become the sacred magic book in the future...” I muttered in a low voice and flip the pages of the book.

Sluuush...

With a gentle movement, I felt the high-quality paper from a mysterious tree. So soft it felt like expensive silk.

”Master Amagi will surely be pleased with this unique magic book...”

”Now, I’m starting to fear Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg’s intentions in lending such a unique magic book...”

Uh, that fear...

Makes me even more curious about the answer...
