As A Maid, I Can Fix Her!

Chapter 88: Chapter 87 - Inverse Magic

A flat blade of flame shaped as a lance floated beside Master Amagi. She was still blushing from my compliment.

I did that so Master Amagi would calm down after reading my thoughts. Which thinking about other girls...

Whether it’s one of the Heroines or another Villainess in this novel’s world, I have to be careful not to think about them in front of Master Amagi or Master Reina.

”Are you okay, Master Amagi?” I asked, noticing her face still turned away from me.

The pink blush that spread across her face was so bright, it almost resembled a red tomato ready to be harvested.

The unbearable embarrassment made the Fire Lance beside her sway. If it fell and stuck in the ground, I would have to carry Master Amagi’s body to avoid getting into trouble.

In the main story of this novel, the most dangerous aspect of a witch is the instability of her spellcasting. Fireball spells can shatter and explode upon being cast. These piercing Fire Lances can fall to the ground and strike an unlucky person.

Why do I know all that?

Well, let’s say that is my knowledge as the author of this novel world.

And the main character in this novel’s world has a mischievous habit of disrupting the concentration of mages who are casting spells. He disrupts their imaginations with imperfect magic, explodes like a misassembled bomb, and defeats them with a sword thrust.

A cunning way of fighting that does not prioritize the attitude of an honorable knight.

Who created that bad main character?

Yup, that’s right!

That person was my past self—the author who always wrote all sorts of ways to develop the main character beyond ambiguous moral boundaries.

The only way to avoid being distracted by the main character’s concentration breakers... is training, a mages must train their mind to remain calm and complete their magic incantations in a calm state.

I could do that easily, because I already understood that the rules of magic in this novel’s world that were badly broken.

”I-I’m fine!”

”B-but, as much as possible... don’t look at me first, Liliana!”

”My face is too embarrassing to look at up close.”

Master Amagi shifted to her left, keeping her distance from me, who was standing right beside her, and released her tight embrace.

I smiled when I saw her cute, shy expression. The price I had to pay to see this cute side of her was quite high. I had to invent a new magical theory to get this cute gift.

”Don’t smile like that, Liliana!” Master Amagi ordered, peeking out from between her spread fingers.

”Why can’t I smile, Master Amagi?”

”Because it will make me feel embarrassed all the time!” she said in a loud voice, attracting her mother’s attention.

The Duchess and Marchioness, who had been discussing my handwritten magic book, turned their attention to us.

Another unwanted distraction had been aroused to me.

Woossshhh!!

Beeessshhh!!

The Fire Lance cast by Master Amagi lingered in the air for a long time, hovering like a lance ready to be thrown towards its target. Master Amagi’s magical abilities truly deserved to be called a maestro of magic. Maintaining the Fire Lance’s form while blushing was no easy feat. Her mind had been trained to maintain the most stable form of magic.

”D-Does that mean I have to leave Master Amagi?”

”Don’t go! Stay beside me, but don’t look at me!”

”Ehh??” The unreasonable request made me smile awkwardly.

Master Amagi’s shout further attracted the attention of the Duchess and the Marchioness. They had already concluded discussions about mass-producing my handwritten magic book under the name of Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg.

What kind of plans they have hatched will be a problem I will have to solve.

The Duchess and Marchioness rose from their seats and moved towards the garden containing the training target dummies.

At a glance, I saw a smile from the Head Maid, who said, ”What have you done, Liliana?”

I could only stand there, frozen, and not speak until they came.

Master Amagi still maintained her embarrassed expression, occasionally peeking at me, and then turning her gaze away from me again.

”What happened?” asked the Duchess, looking gently at me.

”Why does Amagi look so... cute?” Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg asked after seeing her shy daughter.

Blusshh...

Master Amagi’s face flushed even brighter after her mother said that embarrassing thing. She immediately went to gently smack her mother’s stomach, with maintaining her sweet demeanor.

The soft, powerless blows were followed by her small whispers.

”Huh? Is that really possible?”

”If only all mages could manipulate magic that easily. The classification of low-level magic could be modified as the caster wished...”

”Did you have the proof, Amagi?”

”Oh my, this is the first time I’ve heard of it...”

Master Amagi keep whispered in the Marchioness’ ear, her hand pointing at me as if telling her mother, what I had done wrong.

Silenced and unable to resist, I stared at Master Amagi’s Fire Lance. A magic whose base incantation was Fireball. With a powerful push of my imagination, it transformed into a Fire Lance.

If I think about it more, it’s truly a crazy magic technique...

And and unimaginable that the Fireball spell could be used with a magic element that’s the opposite of its base element.

Maybe...

Just maybe...

It will work...

While thinking of another magic theory in my head, I felt a desire in my heart to test it.

My hands moved on their own. They aimed at the practice target dummy and formed a gun-like finger arrangement. My imagination conjured up a form of magic that was the opposite of fire: cold water... forming a structure of ice with sharp edges so it could stab into the practice target dummy.

My eyes closed, imagining a block of ice carved like the tip of a sharp bullet. The cold morning air, warmed by the sunlight, further fueled my imagination. This faint chill grew even colder, like the first snowfall of early winter.

It was so cold that my body shivered.

Whether my imagination was too strong or my body was sick, I felt the cold air based on imagination alone.

”Fireball...” I said after imagining a sharp ice bullet forming at the tip of my index finger.

Baaammm!!

A loud noise suddenly rang out, and I opened my eyes to see a shattered training target dummy.

A small piece of ice had broken off.

”Ugh!!” My body felt heavy, and I felt most of the mana inside my body flowing out.

I looked beside me, seeing everyone’s mouths wide open.

Oh no...

It seems... I just did something that doesn’t make sense anymore.

”H-How can a Fireball spell produce a block of ice!” the Marchioness screamed, making my ears ache.

Her calm demeanor seemed to disappear, replaced by a heavy breath as she approached me.

”Explain this, Liliana!”

The Marchioness grabbed my shoulders and shook me so hard that my head felt dizzy.

My tiny brain shook like a dried basil seed, spinning my vision until I felt dizzy.

”This is what I was talking about earlier, Mama.”

”Liliana has committed a great sin by modifying the magic spell into something else. If any other mage sees this, their heads will explode after being betrayed by their wrong understanding of magic.”

”Liliana can modify the Fireball magic spell into other forms and... yes, as we are seeing right now. This time, this naughty Liliana cast an advanced magic spell by reciting the Fireball spell.”

Master Amagi’s explanation made me understand what was happening.

I accidentally cast advanced magic with low-level magic?

Even though I was just playing with my imagination?

How broken are the rules of magic in this novel’s world?

Oh, revered Great Goddess, have you worked well and properly?

I feel... you’re oversimplifying the rules of magic in this world.

Try not to oversimplify these broken rules of magic!

I feel like I’m being helped by these broken magical rules, but to shock the greatest witch in the Kingdom of Belfast like this, your magical rules need a major overhaul!

My head was spinning, making me dizzy.

My mana felt almost empty.

”P-Please stop... M-My head feels dizzy,” I said pleadingly to Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg.

The Marchioness heard my plea and removed her hand that was shaking my body. Mana is almost gone. My head feels dizzy after get shaken. This felt like magic torture that was exhausting my mental state.

”Explain what just happened, Liliana?!!”

”Why can you cast advanced magic with low-level magic spells?!!”

My head, which was still feeling dizzy, suddenly interrogated by Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg.

”I-I don’t know! I just imagined the nature of Fireball in reverse. I imagined the hot fireball becoming something cold. I imagined the round shape of the ball becoming sharp at the tip, and thought it could penetrate the target dummy like Master Amagi’s Fire Lance magic spell,” I said with my eyes still spinning.

”N-No way... an inverse magic technique??” the Marchioness muttered as she patted her head.

”Oohh... another new magic technique? You truly are my proud maid, Liliana!” said the Duchess as she pulled my arm and hugged me tightly.

Grrrriiiipp...

Grriiipp...

”Huugguu!!” I held back my soft moans.

After being gently embraced by Master Amagi, I must now survive this deadly embrace.

The grip of the female swordsman’s hand is indeed dangerous...

”E-Eekk?!! D-Duchess... I’m sweating!!” I said in a loud voice and endured the pain.

Grriiittt...

Grrrriiitt...

My ribs felt like they were being crushed by a hydraulic press.

My breath was heavy from this torturous embrace.

”Eehh... Don’t want to~.”

”Why should I let go of my beloved maid?”

”Let me hold you a little bit longer, Liliana~.”

I glanced at the Head Maid for help, but her wink said, ”Don’t worry, it’ll be over soon...”

Oh Goddess...

What kind of mistake have I made to deserve this kind of torture?
