As A Maid, I Can Fix Her!

Chapter 74: Chapter 73 - Holy Magic Book With Her Broken Personality

Before dinnertime actually arrived, I cut up some paper and wrote down magic runes that hadn’t been touched by the mana surge. I grabbed some torn paper, then folds it, and draw some symbols, to making it easier to find the right spell.

I’d previously thinking to creating a magic cards similar to poker cards, but I lacked the materials. The only paper I could find came from a book Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg had given me. My hands moved on their own, writing various magic runes and depleting my mana until exhausted.

The drowsiness and fatigue I felt stemmed from the massive loss of mana.

Ten magic runes, that was already exhausted me to the point of wanting to go to bed without dinner.

”There is no need to force yourself to learn magic runes from other mages with rushing method.”

”You have plenty of time to read, you know....”

The gentle-natured magic book spoke to me. It lay before me, its pages wide open, displaying the elegant spells of the noble family and its intricate runes.

As far as I remember, the magic runes in this novel world are ancient magic that has been lost. There were no other records other than a sword engraved with magic runes. Such swords are usually in the Royal Family’s treasury and serve as antique treasures that are not for sale.

But in this lively and gentle magic book, magic runes become common knowledge to read.

Reading it never gets boring, and my hand keeps moving, writing magic runes on paper.

”Lack of mana will make the magic rune inactive and inefficient...”

”Write magic runes according to your mana ability...”

”There’s nothing good about being rushing and not understanding things well...”

Besides being gentle, this magic book also possesses great patience. This gentle rebuke was indirectly aimed at me, who has limited mana capacity. It’s a bit of a shame, but I have to stop now.

Srreett...

Srreett...

My hand stopped writing magic runes, and I felt the night air blow into my bedroom and onto my body, which was dressed in casual clothes. The smell of burning paper had disappeared, and the hunger I felt had vanished as I was busy doing something.

Turning my attention to magic runes to curb hunger seemed to have been the right choice.

Raatttaaa...

Raaataaa...

Suddenly, the floor shook and the door maid room creaked open filling my ears.

The twelve-hour maid job had ended, signaling that I should get ready for dinner with my mother.

”Indeed, something rushed will have a bad impact from one silly mistake,” I replied while folding the torn piece of paper.

By folding it into small parts, my hands could freely hold it without fear of activating the magic spells composed from the magic runes. The activation requirement, which required a mana surge, was a bit troublesome; I had to hold it with a handkerchief to prevent physical contact that would trigger a mana surge.

I do understand the mechanics of magic, such as incantations and imagination, but I haven’t yet learned anything technical like controlling the mana within my body.

At this point, hold the piece of paper containing the explosive magic rune with handkerchief or folding it, is the safe ways.

A direct contact could trigger a chain explosion form another magic runes.

Just thinking about the impact of that explosion makes my head spin.

”I need to controlling the mana in my body, as soon as possible, huh?”

”It’s going to be really hard to do,” I muttered as I took another scrap of paper, which contains magic rune and slip it into the beginner’s magic book.

Thoomm!!

Thoomm!!

I hit the top to make the paper folds, more flatter in the beginner magic book.

”It’s not as difficult as you think. Controlling the mana for mage... is like breathing through the nose. Easy to mastering it,” the magic book replied as it closed its own page.

”The magic runes you wrote are just small spells and have a controlled explosion. That’s was an example to controlling your own mana.”

”Also, what are you going to do with those magic runes, little mage?” asked the magic book with its eyes fixed on me.

That’s a pretty good question, since those magic runes would come in handy in sword training against Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld.

”It’s nothing important. Just to be for my own safety.”

”Magic spells using imagination have a longer response time to activate immediately, right?”

”That’s when the magic runes will shine as an instant surprise attack!”

”That’s the plan...”

A sudden wave of doubt arose in my mind. My opponent was a woman with consecutive sword tournament victories. In my first training session, hitting her with Gravitia Break was beginner’s luck, as my opponent wasn’t serious about fighting back.

On the second day of training, I bet... there would be strong resistance from Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld, who had already studying Liliana’s sword skills and increasing the difficulty.

This small body has to face the veteran champion of the sword tournament...

What a terrible fate...

I unconsciously took a deep breath and made the magic book blink its blue eyes as if trying to understand my condition.

”That’s not a bad plan...”

”And yes, the imagination-based magic has a slower activation time than magic runes...”

”As far as I understand. Some mages cast magic spells with hand gestures and abbreviations. If you fight them, there will be a chance to fight back using magic runes for instant surprise attack.”

Buugghh...

”Oh, Goddess...”

My head fell on the dressing table upon hearing that. From the description alone, it was unmistakably Marchioness Shinano VII Lichtberg and a high-ranking magic instructor at the Royal Belfast Academy.

To reach a high level of magic like that requires intensive magic training from childhood.

And that’s what Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg and Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld are doing for their daughter.

”Aahhh... It’s going to be a hassle trying to win against her, isn’t it?” I grumbled softly as I felt the coldness of the dressing table on my cheeks.

”There is a possibility of winning using magic runes,” the magic book replied while standing on the bottom of the her book and looking at me.

Those blue eyes felt soft, looking at me as if giving me a motivation to do something big.

”Easy for you to say that.”

”In theory, magic runes will win against top-level magic spells that take thirty seconds to complete.”

”And In those thirty seconds. I was already lying on the ground with my body covered in wounds.”

”Ara~ That’s a nice assumption, but it won’t really happen, right?”

”Ugh, I would hate it if that were true.”

”Fufu~ Don’t hate something that hasn’t happened yet, little mage.”

Ckuuttt...

Ckuuttt...

I wanted to reply to that statement with another rebuttal, but my fingertips pierced her blue eyes that were getting closer to me.

Blliinnkk!!

Suddenly, a white light suddenly shone brightly in front of me, blinding my eyes in an instant.

”Oh, shiitt!!”

”What the hell is this?!!” I screamed in a controlled tone, not so loud that it was heard outside, but it still echoed in my room.

My eyes, which had previously seen a blue magic book, were now blinded by the white light that forced its way into my vision.

Is this karma for stabbing the eyes of the magic book?

It’s not karma about that, is it?

”U-Ugh!! M-My eyeeeesss...”

”What kind of holy magic book blinded my eyes!!”

I blinked several times, but my vision remained white. It took a long time for my vision to clear up, and I could see the contents of my room clearly again.

Right beside me, a white magic book with a yellow eye cover stared at me.

Twiinnkk...

Twiinnkk...

”A-Anoo... are you okay?” asked the magic book while moving its eyeballs to look around me.

”D-Do you think I’ll be okay with the bright light piercing my eyes?” I replied quickly and blinked my eyes several times.

It was my first experience of being blinded by bright light other than driving a car at night and being hit by the headlights of a truck from a distance.

”S-Sorry, but that is the characteristic of a holy magic book filled with divinity.”

”What kind of divinity to blinds someone’s eyes!” I retorted in a loud, resounding voice.

I almost screamed even louder after seeing the innocent personality of this magic book.

It wasn’t pure innocence that knew no sin; it was the innocence of a uneducated magic book.

”I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to blind anyone!”

”I-I will take responsibility for solving that problem!”

Fllaappp...

Fllaapp...

The magic book immediately flew before my eyes and opened its pages to reveal a holy eye drop potion with the effect of curing blindness.

”Uhm, you know that I was blinded by the bright light that suddenly entered my eyes, right?”

”You also know that blind people cannot read and see the writing on your sheet of paper, right?”

All kinds of questions came out of my mouth, sounding cruel and clashing with dark humor that shouldn’t exist in the world of this novel.

This holy magic book with an innocent personality, somehow became an immoral rage-bait personality.

”Eh?? Aahh!! T-That’s not what I meant!” The holy magic book looked panicked and changed the arrangement of the text inside the book into small dots that looked like braille.

I was lost in thought for a moment after seeing it.

Is this holy magic book actually innocent or too stupid?

”Please go back to the previous language,” I said to see her other innocence.

”Eh? Ah!! Y-Yes, wait a minute...”

Fllaapp...

Flllaapp...

The holy magic book flapped its pages again. The braille text returned to its normal form, written in gold ink.

I don’t want to think of her as a stupid, plain holy magic book, but it really reflects her personality.

Of the three magic book personalities I’ve seen, I wouldn’t be able to stand this plain magic book for a day.

Oh, the esteemed Marchioness Shinano Vii Lichtberg...

Is this the reason you changed this magic book into the version of the forbidden magic book with that overly honest personality?

Because this stupid, plain holy magic book version of it... Is it so annoying?
