As A Maid, I Can Fix Her!

Chapter 81: Chapter 80 - Brand New Days

I fell asleep with all the problems that would happen in the future.

Surprisingly, I was able to fall asleep soundly without insomnia and wake up in the morning. Much faster than my mother, who was still asleep. The speed at young people fast-charging sleep is truly frightening; they can stay up late and wake up refreshed. Unlike my past self, who always woke up exhausted.

”Liliana is really scary,” I said as I prepared my new maid uniform and got ready to take a cold shower.

The bright morning with the sunless sky reminded me of the Head Maid’s arrival time on the first day of intensive training.

But... There was no fixed time to confirm her arrival.

So, I quickly took a morning shower and got ready to wait for her arrival.

Without breakfast...

Without enjoying warm tea...

Without enjoying warm water in this cold morning air...

It all went by like a boring morning shower, alone and shivering from the cold.

While waiting for the Head Maid to arrive, I filled my free time with writing a magic book. I continued the discussion I’d left off last night and wrote about the essence of holy magic. A magic that cannot be cast without faith in the Great Goddess.

My handwriting may seem heretical and dangerous to the eyes of the saintess, but I have proven several things. A gratitude toward Goddess when casting magic is part of faith in the Great Goddess.

Being able to cast magic is already part of experiencing the blessings of the Great Goddess. The rule that only sinless people can cast holy magic seems to stem from ancient tales. A tales where people could cast any type of magic without moral boundaries; even drunkards could use holy magic to sober up their minds when drunk.

So, they invented religion to rule it.

Srreett...

Srreett...

The quill pen danced across the blank paper of the magic book. Write down my every heretical thought and draw attention from the holy magic book.

”If you write it in easy going language, it will look amateurish,” said the holy magic book, which now felt friendlier than before.

”I did use casual, everyday language. So it wouldn’t be too complicated for others to read. Besides, who would read this beginner’s magic book?” I replied, glancing at the holy magic book floating beside me.

A few things were different from usual. Its clean white cover looked like it was tied with vines, and rows of sunflower seeds wrapped around its yellow eyes.

Strange, really strange...

What happened while I was sleeping and showering?

As far as I can remember, this holy magic book doesn’t have this kind of extravagant decoration.

”...” I stared at the holy magic book without a word; there was only silence waiting for her to say something I didn’t know.

The plain book cover with its winding vines filled with sunflower seeds feels like it’s threatening to blow itself up if the holy magic book makes a mistake.

”D-Don’t look at me like that. I have an explanation for this, okay?!!” the holy magic book said with burning passion.

”W-We have reached a peace agreement and will not fight!”

”And I will always give in, and the sunflower will always win in every problem we have!”

What I heard was not an explanation about herself, but rather a statement that she would always lose to sunflower.

I glanced at the sunflower, which was still emitting its white pure light. It looked as if it was making peace with the holy magic book with aiming the explosive sunflower seeds, ready to be launched at any moment.

To additional damage, I guess?

Well, how to explain it properly?

I also confused...

Even without directing the sunflower seeds at this holy magic book, she’s already attached a coil of sunflower seeds, ready to explode at any moment. It’s like attaching a box of bombs to the target’s body and being ready to press the detonation button in case of any unforeseen event, happened.

”I’m glad you two are at peace,” I said with a smile, not caring about the safety of the holy magic book.

”Y-You can be sad, too, you know.”

”Why should I be saddened by this good news? Isn’t life better without enemies? That’s sounds wonderful, right?” I asked, putting on Liliana’s innocent mask.

”How can you say that without feeling sorry for me!” the holy magic book snarled.

I ignored all of that and continued writing with my quill pen.

The slight vibration of approaching footsteps disturbed the swaying light of the magic lantern. The fast-moving footsteps stopped in front of my bedroom door.

Kllaaakk...

With a slow movement, someone turned the handle of my bedroom door.

Duukkk...

Duukkk...

Brrraaakk...

”Booohhoookkk!!”

From the opposite direction, I also heard running footsteps of someone, who doing something to someone outside my bedroom door.

Judging by the deep voice, it was an old man who looked like an old butler.

”Uh, Sebastian?”

”Why he here?” I muttered as I placed the quill pen on the dry paper, letting the ink drip down and dry the tip of the quill pen.

Imagine an old man entering a room containing a sleeping mother and daughter.

It’s terrifying, right?

So creepy...

Fortunately, there’s a sane person who prevents it from happening.

The holy magic book floating beside me pretended to be an ordinary book, lying next to a complicated beginner’s magic book. What a perfect irony, considering the title on the cover and the content, opposite.

What kind of beginner uses complicated words with other beginners?

It’s really ridiculous if you think about it further...

Krrraakk...

The doorknob of my room slowly opened, revealing the figure of the Head Maid who entered carrying simple bread and a bottle of glowing drink.

Nooomm...

Noommm...

She eat it, as a breakfast?

Now, I am training in hungry state again.

”Liliana, are you awake?” she said , shocked after seeing me sitting at the dressing table and still writing a magic book.

”Yes, because of one or two things that happened last night. I slept soundly and woke up early. And early morning was a perfect opportunity to study, right, Head Maid?”

My answer sounded like a diligent student who never stops learning.

All I do is write down my thoughts in the morning and try to complete the assignment from Marchioness Shinano VII Lichtberg. Her order to write a magic book is indeed troublesome.

Should I hold back my magical abilities when I meet her?

”Oh my Goddess... Too diligent for an apprentice maid. You could have slept longer, you know...”

”Sleep longer? Do I have time for that?” I replied, getting off the dressing table and carrying my handwritten magic book.

”Of course not. It’s time for training...”

”Oh, right, training...”

The black ink had dried completely, soaking into the paper, and I showed it to the Head Maid.

”What about my magic book writing training?”

”Is it good?”

”Easy to read, right?” I asked the Head Maid with shining eyes.

Kiirrraa...

Kiiirraaa...

Doing this kind of thing is embarrassing; I look like a little girl who is hungry for praise.

The Head Maid took the magic book containing my handwriting. She read the first page, which contained an imaginative reconstruction of magic casting, then continued to the second page, which contained delayed magic.

The look in her eyes seemed to understand something, and she nodded her head.

”Similar to a novice witch’s report based on personal experience. Not bad, Liliana.”

”But in this complicated section of magic runes, it’s best not to describe the magic runes clearly for safety reasons. If what you wrote is true, then these magic runes will become a bridge for mages to be lazy in imagining and casting magic.”

”Anyway... it’s nice magic book, Liliana.”

The short, concise, and clear praise felt unintentional.

But, I accepted it well...

”Magic runes part? It would be a big problem if mages started to get lazy about imagining and casting magic?” A small, mischievous thought crossed my mind.

I immediately took the folded paper containing the magic rune arrangement, touched the magic rune writing, and felt the mana fluctuations being sucked out of my body.

Swwiissshh!!

In a flash, I threw the folded paper at the Head Maid. A large fireball suddenly appeared, causing the Head Maid to dodge it by jumping to the side, allowing the fireball to escape from the room.

Swwooosshh!!

That quick evasive reflex...

I already knew that...

”Can you teach me to move that fast, Head Maid?” I asked as I stuffed the folded paper into my maid uniform pocket.

”Even with these magic runes I’ve prepared, I still have a long way to go to defeat Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld.”

”Your movements are fast and agile. I want to learn them!”

From the very beginning, I sensed the Head Maid’s extraordinary abilities. She could move at lightning speed and had incredible reflexes. This wasn’t something a normal Head Maid could achieve.

If I could be suspicious of the Head Maid, it would be that she’s Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s shadow unit. She operates as the Head Maid without arousing suspicion and carries out Duchess Adelheid Von Blutfeld’s orders from the shadows.

”That’s impossible with your weak body, Liliana.”

Sttaabb!!

The cruel stab of fact touched my pride.

”Y-Yes, I am indeed weak...” I said resignedly and held back my sobs in my heart.

I caught a glimpse of a small vibration coming from the holy magic book as it laughed at me.

However, the vines wrapped around its eyes blocked the laughter, turning it into a scream of fear.

”It’s called motivation to learn, Head Maid!”

”Don’t make my motivation to practice fade...” With this annoyed and weak tone, I walked to the exit.

Tap...

Tap...

The Head Maid’s answer disturbed my thoughts.

Even my footsteps felt heavy as my motivation to train rapidly faded. From behind my bedroom door, I could see the old Butler groaning in pain on the floor.

”Uhh...” without speaking about the situation, I walked past him.

”E-Excuse me... just passing by,” I continued as I passed him.

Krraaakkk...

The Head Maid closed my bedroom door. Carrying my handwritten magic book, she walked up behind me and kicked the old Butler in the groin to make sure he was still alive.

”Get out of the maids’ quarters corridor immediately before you’re labeled a perverted old man, Sebastian.”

”You don’t want Liliana calling you Uncle Pervert instead of the authoritative Pervert Grandpa, do you?” the Head Maid said, sending shivers down my spine.
