Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 951: Chapter 582: ”Chen Yin

Cui Xidong suddenly fell ill.

His illness was very sudden, his face turned ashen, and he collapsed on the set.

Everyone was shocked and hurriedly sent him to the hospital.

The director’s sudden collapse threw the set into chaos.

The filming had to be stopped.

Zhou Yun and the others had no choice but to temporarily go back and rest.

Xu Jinbo didn’t go to the hospital; he had to stay on set to manage the situation.

He immediately arranged for the B team director to continue filming their scheduled scenes to catch up on the progress. On the other hand, he also needed to quickly confirm Cui Xidong’s condition to make the necessary arrangements.

So far, the drama ”Deep Sea” has completed about three-fifths of filming, with only a small part remaining.

This remaining part mainly consists of scenes between Zhou Yun and Xin Zhike.

Xin Zhike is about to join the crew; he is the male lead of this drama, with a significant number of scenes. Because he was filming another drama previously, his scenes were scheduled for later filming.

Zhou Yun waited for news at the hotel, and by evening, Xu Jinbo finally relayed some information.

Cui Xidong is not in serious trouble; he has just been too tired recently, frequently staying up late, and resting inadequately, so he collapsed on set.

Zhou Yun breathed a sigh of relief.

It’s good that nothing major happened.

Honestly, the moment she saw Cui Xidong fall on the set, she feared the worst outcome.

Thankfully, it was just exhaustion from a lack of rest.

However, the relief Zhou Yun felt was quickly overshadowed.

Zheng Xiaojue informed her that the reason Cui Xidong was extremely tired and lacked rest was due to the meetings he had with the heads of various departments every night after work, discussing the subsequent filming plans.

Filming a drama involves many decisions that aren’t made on the day of shooting but rather need to be decided and prepared in advance so that everything is ready during filming.

For instance, the props actors use every day and the costumes they wear aren’t just conjured up on the spot.

The choice of props and sets require direction approval.

If the items submitted by departments are not up to standard and the director is unsatisfied, modifications may be necessary, leading to multiple rounds of communication, which can be troublesome.

Zhou Yun suddenly realized that while she could return to the hotel to rest after work every night, the directors couldn’t.

And the reason Cui Xidong had these late-night discussions with department heads was because she had previously expressed a desire to finish her scenes as quickly as possible, leading to extra scenes added every night to speed up the progress.

At this moment, Zhou Yun felt guilty and uneasy.

Cui Xidong’s exhaustion was entirely due to the demands she had made.

She went to the hospital to visit him, filled with unease and apology.

Cui Xidong looked very weak, his face a shade of pale blue.

He still struggled to sit up and greet Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun said, ”Director, I am very sorry, I only just realized that my request has caused you difficulty.”

She thought that her words sounded insincere, but she genuinely hadn’t anticipated that adding a few extra scenes every night would burden Cui Xidong so much.

Cui Xidong instead comforted Zhou Yun, saying, ”No, it’s not your fault. I’m used to worrying and habitually check B team’s filming materials every night, giving them feedback.”

Cui Xidong is a very responsible director.

In current productions, to control costs and speed up progress, crews usually divide into A and B teams to film simultaneously, effectively managing time and progress.

However, having A and B teams filming simultaneously is a great test of directors’ skills.

The biggest fear is that the footage from both teams differs significantly, making it hard to integrate into the finished product.

Although Cui Xidong communicated his requirements to the B team director every day, for safety’s sake, he would personally review the B team’s footage daily; if any were unusable, he would provide prompt feedback for re-takes.

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun reflected deeply.

Initially, she thought Cui Xidong wasn’t a talented director, but after experiencing so much with this crew, Zhou Yun gradually realized that for a producer, they don’t necessarily need a highly talented director, but they certainly appreciate having a director like Cui Xidong. He ensures the quality completion of every project, displaying great responsibility, without glaring errors or shortcomings.
