Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 984: Chapter 590: Proudly Riding the Spring Breeze (Part 4)

The host asked, ”What’s the difference?”

The special guest said, ”This means that the script’s protagonist could actually be changed to a role played by a Westerner. There’s no need to cast a Chinese actor. This is a different concept from ’Chinese Warrior,’ which played the China card from the start, but Mélando cast Zhou Yun in this movie, which only shows that Zhou Yun indeed has a certain influence in the United States now.”

The host said, ”It seems like it’s been a long time since we’ve seen a Chinese actor with influence in the international film arena.”

”Actually, Song Chi and Zhou Yun are both young actors who have appeared internationally quite frequently. Coincidentally, they are also a couple. But as Song Chi said, unless you shift your career focus to Hollywood, basically, you won’t get a particularly good opportunity, even if you’ve reached Song Chi’s level,” the special guest said. ”If it weren’t for Zhou Yun gaining some fame internationally due to ’Life’ and ’Behind the Scenes,’ and becoming a news sensation across America due to the hotel invasion incident, I think Mélando would hardly have handed her such a big production leading role.”

”Indeed, it’s really hard to see a Chinese actor playing the lead in an English-language film.”

”Yeah.”

...

The program’s content sparked widespread discussion.

Zhou Yun also saw the show.

By the time she saw the program, she had already left the ’Laissez-faire’ crew and was on her way to the airport.

She was heading to the United States to participate in ’Behind the Scenes’ promotional activities.

Online, there was a heated debate about her current status in the eyes of American studios. Almost everyone discussing was marveling at her good fortune, good enough to become an overnight sensation in America due to some social news.

Many people believed what the special guest said on the show, thinking that Zhou Yun landed the ’Killing Song’ movie because of her popularity in the United States.

After watching the program, Zhou Yun just smiled noncommittally.

No matter what reason led Mélando to choose her to star in this film, the current discussion around her once again elevated her to the top tier among actresses.

Many people said that for Zhou Yun to secure the leading role in a significant English-speaking production, that represents true hard power, which can make American studios take note.

As someone directly involved, Zhou Yun certainly knew those statements were not accurate.

What does it mean to take note or not?

Zhou Yun thought to herself, on one hand, the script was originally designed for an Asian, and on the other hand, China’s market is now so large that no American studio can ignore it. Plus, the feedback for her films in the American market was indeed good, and she became an instant sensation in America. All these factors together led to smooth communication with Mélando, resulting in this collaboration.

Every factor influenced the final result.

Zhou Yun didn’t attribute the outcome to any single factor; that wouldn’t be accurate either.

However, He Yong was the first to contact her, asking if there were suitable roles that Zhang Mo could play.

Zhou Yun replied that she had not yet seen the complete script.

This was not to deceive He Yong; she had indeed not seen the full script.

In such big productions, the confidentiality of the script is particularly high.

Yao Yuanfeng then cheerfully announced that New Shield was also one of the investors in ’Killing Song.’

As a result, some people said Zhou Yun got the role because of Yao Yuanfeng’s strong support.

Yao Yuanfeng, who usually loves to play the big boss, promptly replied on Weibo: I wouldn’t dare take credit for this.

This sparked another wave of discussion.

Having collaborated on three films, ’Life,’ ’Two Tigers,’ and ’Four Killers,’ with Zhou Yun, some said Zhou Yun had now become the New Shield Princess, with the best movie resources from New Shield being reserved for her.

Seeing such comments, Yao Yuanfeng thought to himself, he would like to give resources to actors from his own company, but the problem is, who can guarantee a strong box office performance?

Apart from other random factors, among the young actresses now, who can best carry the box office?

No one would give a second answer.

Zhou Yun has now become synonymous with box office legend.

After all, for all the movies she has recently released, aside from ’Warm Little Horse,’ none have any other hit performers to divert the box office, and with ’Warm Little Horse,’ how much her promotions contributed to the box office results is evident to anyone with eyes.

So, compared to other simple box office stats ’carry the box office’ theories, insiders certainly understand the strength of Zhou Yun’s ability to carry the box office.

Yao Yuanfeng was planning the upcoming movies he would collaborate on with Zhou Yun, from ’Female Assassin’ to his own script ’Under the Moonlight,’ two films with completely different themes.

Besides these two films, even more collaboration projects need to be crafted around Zhou Yun.

Yao Yuanfeng had a hunch that in the next five to ten years, Zhou Yun would usher in a golden era of her own.

He certainly hoped Zhou Yun’s schedule wouldn’t be taken over by others.

It’s just that Zhou Yun is very selective with scripts, so ordinary scripts on Yao Yuanfeng’s end probably wouldn’t appeal to her.

Yao Yuanfeng thought he needed to assemble the company’s signed writers for a meeting.

...

Zhou Yun’s departure for the United States was very low-key, with almost no leaks, allowing her a rare peace at the airport.

This time, Zhou Lan was still going with Zhou Yun.

This time, the group traveling expanded, including the old crew of Zheng Xiaojue, Liu Yun, and Cao Jun, with Zhou Lan also bringing a legal advisor and a makeup artist specifically.

Zhou Lan said, ”This time in the United States, there will be many schedules and many partnerships to negotiate. You’ll be attending numerous events, so you must have someone to design different, suitable looks for you, even though there will be people arranging that in America. Based on previous experience, it’s still better to have our own people.”

Last time, a senior executive from Paimon wanted Zhou Yun to do a so-called makeover that fit European and American aesthetics, which Zhou Lan directly refused.

Zhou Yun nodded.

”I also think it’s more reliable to bring our own familiar and previously worked-with makeup artist.”

This time there are too many schedules, public and private events, and her image needs to be impeccable.

Zhou Yun’s own image is an important part of her work.
