Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 954: Chapter 583: Imperially Granted Constable

Zhou Yun didn’t expect that Xin Zhike would be a person with such a strong artistic inclination.

She had previously read some information about Xin Zhike and knew that he loved sports, was an avid traveler and hiker, and often shared photos of himself, like having a cup of coffee or checking in at a new restaurant, on social media.

After Xin Zhike joined the crew, it didn’t take long for Zheng Xiaojue to surprise Zhou Yun by sharing some news she had discovered.

”Xin Zhike brought a suitcase full of books,” Zheng Xiaojue exclaimed with a shocked expression, ”and he even went to see a play last night.”

”Huh?” Zhou Yun was taken aback, ”Didn’t he just join the team yesterday?”

”Yes, he checked in with the crew and then left again, returning very late,” said Zheng Xiaojue. ”Everyone was quite surprised.”

Zhou Yun said, ”He might just be someone who likes literature and art.”

”You totally can’t tell, he looks like a very sunny sports guy, not arty at all,” Zheng Xiaojue commented, ”but he’s really handsome, though.”

Zhou Yun smiled and looked at Zheng Xiaojue, asking, ”So, compared to Gu Huaichun, who’s more handsome?”

Zheng Xiaojue thought seriously for a moment, then said, ”Brother Gu is still more handsome.”

Zhou Yun replied, ”You’re just a die-hard fan of Gu Huaichun.”

Zheng Xiaojue seriously refuted, ”Brother Gu is really handsome, whereas Xin Zhike is too delicate, not as imposing as Brother Gu.”

”Imposing?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise, ”I’ve never noticed any imposing aura from Gu Huaichun.”

Zheng Xiaojue pouted and said, ”Sister Xiao Yun, you’re good friends with Brother Gu, so he always shows his gentlest side in front of you.”

Regardless of whatever attribute Xin Zhike actually has, Zhou Yun admired him as a co-star.

Xin Zhike’s acting couldn’t be called spectacular, but he was a very serious actor. For a young actor, this was basically enough.

The biggest fear for young actors was being arrogant, lacking reverence, and thinking they were incredibly skilled.

With Xin Zhike, his emotional control was often not so adept, and this was where Cui Xidong’s role as director truly came into play.

Each time, he could promptly point out the issues in Xin Zhike’s performance, like too much pause in the lines or the wrong rhythm affecting emotion, or illogical details.

With Xin Zhike, Cui Xidong fully demonstrated his extensive experience.

Whatever issues Xin Zhike had, Cui Xidong had his own methods to mold Xin Zhike into what he wanted.

Zhou Yun watched from the side, utterly amazed.

She also vaguely sensed that Cui Xidong seemed to really like actors like Xin Zhike.

This fondness wasn’t something Cui Xidong said aloud, but Zhou Yun felt that Cui Xidong was very willing to share his understanding of acting and actors with him.

These were things Cui Xidong had never said to her.

The biggest difference between her and Cui Xidong was that she was already an accomplished, award-winning actor, while Xin Zhike was still a newcomer, although playing the lead, he was still a blank slate professionally.

Zhou Yun could also understand why Cui Xidong would say those things to him but not to her.

If Cui Xidong had indeed told her these things, others might see it as Cui Xidong being presumptuous.

Because from a worldly perspective, Cui Xidong being able to have Zhou Yun star in his film was seen as him reaching above his station.

Cui Xidong wasn’t a renowned director like Kang Xin or Director Lan, who were industry-recognized directors with big awards and high status in the circle; if it were Kang Xin or Director Lan, even if the counterpart were the Movie King or Queen, they would have enough self-assurance to ”guide” them. But Cui Xidong wasn’t.

Zhou Yun understood this point and thus couldn’t force a more mutually trusting relationship with Cui Xidong.

This was decided by the positions they were in.

Zhou Yun thought that maybe she and Cui Xidong would need to collaborate more to remove these barriers.

On the other hand, Xin Zhike, though he joined the crew last, quickly became familiar with Cui Xidong; every day when he arrived on set, the first thing he did was to communicate with Cui Xidong about the upcoming scenes and discuss the script.

Xin Zhike also sought her out.

In this regard, Xin Zhike really was a very diligent actor.
