Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 975: Chapter 588: Filming Wrapped Up_6

She came up to Jiang Yuzhen and said, ”Yuzhen, this play is about to finish filming. After this is done, do you have other plans?”

”What’s up? Are you trying to introduce me to a job?” Jiang Yuzhen looked up, smiling as she asked.

Ning Xiner said, ”I’ve been asked by a director friend of mine to inquire about your schedule. He’s got a TV drama that’s about to start filming in November, and there’s a major role he’d like you to play, but he’s not sure if you’re available.”

Jiang Yuzhen asked in surprise, ”November? How come they still haven’t found someone for the role? Could it be that they had someone, but they bailed?”

Ning Xiner said, ”I haven’t heard about that, but it shouldn’t be the case. I heard the TV drama got Wei Ru Xue, but she only has an open schedule in November and December, so the production company is preparing to start filming earlier.”

Jiang Yuzhen asked, ”Wei Ru Xue? She’s the lead?”

”Yes.” Ning Xiner nodded, ”Earlier ’Spring Cold’ was so popular, every show wants her as the lead. The director of this drama worked with me before and is really good.”

”Who is it? What show?”

”A modern suspense drama,” Ning Xiner said, ”Director Wu Zhi, do you know him?”

”I don’t,” Jiang Yuzhen shook her head, ”Have him contact my agent. I’ll give you the contact information.”

Ning Xiner agreed.

Jiang Yuzhen asked, ”What about you? After finishing this movie, do you have other plans?”

”The company wants me to be a permanent guest on an actor-themed variety show. The discussions are almost finalized,” Ning Xiner said, ”This movie really exhausted me, I need to properly recover.”

Jiang Yuzhen said, ”This movie was grueling to film.”

”Yeah, I saw Song Chi was quite put through the wringer,” Ning Xiner said, ”I initially thought shooting this film would be relatively easy, but Director Xu Qi is quite the taskmaster. One scene could have me do countless takes, I’ve never been pushed to this extent before.”

Jiang Yuzhen smiled, ”But it seems like everyone finds the experience rewarding.”

Ning Xiner stayed silent.

”You know what Song Chi told me the day before yesterday?”

”What did he say?”

”He said he hasn’t tackled such a challenging role in a long time,” Jiang Yuzhen said, ”Think about it, if even he finds it tough, it shows how demanding this role is.”

”I hope this film turns out successful.”

”Yes,” Jiang Yuzhen nodded, ”You acted wonderfully. I actually think you might have a chance at competing for Best Actress.”

Ning Xiner quickly shook her head, saying, ”I’m not capable of that. With Zhou Yun around, who could compete against her for Best Actress? She still has another film directed by Xue Qin, ’Falling Leaves,’ that hasn’t been released. I’m sure it will be a major hit.”

”Even though Zhou Yun is indeed a genius actress, don’t exaggerate others’ strengths and diminish your own. Look, didn’t Yin Lin still manage to win Best Actress?”

Ning Xiner shook her head, ”I really don’t have that capability.”

Jiang Yuzhen smiled slightly at the corner of her mouth and said nothing.

To say that Ning Xiner had no thought of winning Best Actress, surely that wasn’t true.

How much of what Ning Xiner said was out of modesty and how much was genuine, only she knew.

Having acted alongside Ning Xiner in the same cast for so long, Jiang Yuzhen had a pretty good idea of what Ning Xiner was thinking.

If anyone believed Ning Xiner didn’t aspire for Best Actress, Jiang Yuzhen would be the first to doubt it.

Of course, Ning Xiner’s denial was not something Jiang Yuzhen would openly contest.

It was all about appearances.

”So, Song Chi hasn’t come yet?” Jiang Yuzhen asked.

Ning Xiner said, ”It seems he doesn’t have any scenes until four o’clock. He was shooting all night and had a few takes. Director Xu kept him for a long time, and they only wrapped up around seven in the morning.”

”It’s tough,” Jiang Yuzhen said, ”Should we go ahead and start shooting? Which scene are we doing?”

Just as they were talking, Xu Qi came over and started discussing the scene with them.

In fact, the scene they and Song Chi were about to shoot was the same one, but Xu Qi planned to start filming their parts first.

According to Xu Qi’s routine, this scene would probably take until around ten at night to finish.

Xu Qi preferred to shoot an entire scene in one go.

Jiang Yuzhen and Ning Xiner were already in makeup, ready to start filming at any time.

In the end, they kept filming until Song Chi arrived, and not a single shot was approved.

Ning Xiner appeared slightly withered.

Despite filming for a long time, she still couldn’t get used to Xu Qi’s exacting standards.

Even the slightest dissatisfaction required a retake.
