Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 958: Chapter 584: Reversal

The screenwriter of ”Imperially Granted Constable” is Qin Miaoyin, a very young woman.

Because the storyline of this drama received a lot of praise, some media reached out to Qin Miaoyin for an interview, also to ride on the wave of hype.

Inevitably, the conversation turned to the issue of the actors’ performances.

The interviewer asked quite a tricky question, directly saying, ”Everyone is praising your script as particularly good, a rare gem among domestic dramas in recent years, yet you recruited a bunch of actors with particularly bad acting skills as leads, do you feel it’s a pity?”

Qin Miaoyin countered, ”What do you mean by pity?”

”Well, you worked so hard to write such a good script, but didn’t have good actors to portray the characters you wrote. Otherwise, this drama might have been even better, right?”

Qin Miaoyin shook her head and said, ”Those good actors you mentioned, not a single one was interested in my script.”

The interviewer was dumbfounded.

She said, ”After the script was finished, the production team did send it to all the top actors’ teams, but not a single one was interested.”

The interviewer asked in surprise, ”Not a single one?”

”Yes,” Qin Miaoyin smiled slightly, ”You say the actors in ’Imperially Granted Constable’ have somewhat average acting skills, perhaps they do lack in capability, but they are people I genuinely respect. I also believe with their attitude, they can definitely become good actors in the future. I am very happy to have invited them to act in ’Imperially Granted Constable’.”

Qin Miaoyin’s answer was completely unexpected to the interviewer, who was even a little at a loss.

”Their attitude like that? Could you elaborate?”

”If you had seen how they behaved on set, you would know how seriously they took this drama,” Qin Miaoyin said, ”There was not a single scene they approached halfheartedly.”

”But...”

”Their acting skills are still lacking for now, but because they agreed to act, this drama could appear before everyone today, especially Miss Yuk Chu. If it weren’t for her starring in this drama, it wouldn’t have been able to start shooting.” Qin Miaoyin smiled slightly, ”So, objectively speaking, it’s the audience’s freedom to criticize this drama however they want. It’s only because you asked me today what I thought about this matter that I told you what I experienced and know. I have no intention of arguing on behalf of the actors. They are humble people, and everyone’s criticism is surely a kind of help for them. I just... hmm, how to say, as a screenwriter, I know a lot of facts that can’t be seen by others. If there’s a suitable opportunity in the future, I would be more than willing to let them act in my second script, I would feel very at ease.”

This interview with Qin Miaoyin, once published, quickly spread across the internet, borrowing the heat from ”Imperially Granted Constable”.

Zhou Yun saw this interview during a break in filming.

”Chuchu, have you seen Qin Miaoyin’s interview?” Zhou Yun turned to ask Yuk Chu.

The makeup artist was touching up Yuk Chu’s makeup, so she had to keep her head still, only glancing over with her eyes, ”Huh?”

Zhou Yun said, ”Qin Miaoyin, your screenwriter for ’Imperially Granted Constable’, gave an interview, did you see it?”

Yuk Chu said, ”Oh, that, Miaoyin told us about it in the group chat yesterday.”

”Was it really impossible to find actors for ’Imperially Granted Constable’ at the beginning?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise.

Logically, with such a good script, surely some actors would be interested.

There are, of course, many actors in the industry who don’t understand how to evaluate a script itself, only judging the team based on the creators’ names and status.

But there are also many actors who do actually read the script. Zhou Yun thought with such a script, surely there would be actors interested.

Yuk Chu said, ”It’s mainly because the pay was too low. This drama had a very small investment and a very low budget. Most actors definitely wouldn’t accept it.”

Zhou Yun suddenly understood.

It turns out the script was one reason, and another reason was the compensation.

Zhou Yun suddenly wondered if Qin Miaoyin’s script for ’Imperially Granted Constable’ had also reached her team.
