Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 992: Chapter 591: Journey to the United States (8)

Zhou Yun took a deep breath and said, ”Xiaoju, let’s go find Sister Lan first.”

”Okay.”

Zhou Yun and Zheng Xiaojue put down their unfinished dinner and hurriedly left the restaurant.

When they knocked on the door, Zhou Lan was packing her bag, about to go out. Hearing the urgent knocking, she wondered what was going on. Looking through the peephole, she saw Zhou Yun and Zheng Xiaojue outside and immediately opened the door.

”What’s wrong? Why are you looking for me in such a hurry?”

Zhou Yun said, ”Sister Lan, do you have contact information for Gu Huaichun’s agent?”

”Yes,” Zhou Lan said. ”I do. Why? Do you need to contact him? But isn’t he supposed to return to China today?”

Zhou Yun said, ”Quickly, try reaching him. I just saw a news article saying a Chinese male actor was assaulted and robbed last night and is hospitalized with serious injuries. I’m not sure if it’s him. I tried calling him, but I couldn’t get through.”

Zhou Lan looked shocked.

Without saying another word, she immediately grabbed her phone to contact Gu Huaichun’s agent.

”Huh? What?” Gu Huaichun’s agent looked puzzled. ”Robbed? Injured? That’s impossible. I just woke him up ten minutes ago. He’s fine.”

Zhou Lan immediately breathed a sigh of relief and said, ”You scared me. It’s good that he’s okay. We saw in the newspaper that a Chinese male actor was assaulted and injured, so we thought it was Gu Huaichun and got really scared.”

After some more small talk, Zhou Lan hung up the phone.

”It’s not him. Don’t worry,” Zhou Lan said to Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun and Zheng Xiaojue both breathed a sigh of relief.

”But if it’s not Gu Huaichun, then who could it be?” Zhou Lan wondered, frowning. ”Who else among the Chinese male actors is in the United States now?”

Zhou Lan and Zhou Yun’s gazes met.

They looked at each other in confusion.

A name popped into their heads at the same time.

You Jiang.

The relief Zhou Yun had just felt dissipated again.

You Jiang is also in the United States, also in New York, and he was supposed to attend the dinner with them tonight.

Could it be You Jiang?

At that moment, Zhou Lan’s phone rang.

It was a call from the filming party today, saying that the car to pick up Zhou Yun had already arrived downstairs.

Zhou Lan hung up the phone and said to Zhou Yun, ”Let’s go down first. Whether it’s Mr. Jiang or not, we still have work this morning. I’ll find out what’s really happening.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

...

As noon approached, Zhou Yun finished the interview.

After removing the mic, the journalist conducting the interview asked, ”Zhou Yun, you seem a bit distracted. Is something bothering you?”

Zhou Yun gave the journalist an apologetic smile and said, ”I am a little out of it today, sorry.”

The journalist smiled back.

Since Zhou Yun didn’t want to elaborate, the journalist didn’t press further.

After saying goodbye to the interview and filming crew, Zhou Yun couldn’t hold back any longer and urgently looked at Sister Lan.

”Sister Lan, what’s the situation? Who is it?” Zhou Yun asked. ”Is it Mr. Jiang?”

Zhou Lan sighed, nodded, and said, ”I’ve confirmed it. It’s Mr. Jiang. He went out last night to buy something and was robbed by two young men. Mr. Jiang fought with them, but unfortunately, he wasn’t a match for them. Luckily, someone saw it and scared the two off.”

Zhou Yun asked, ”Which hospital is Mr. Jiang in? I’d like to visit him.”

Zhou Lan said, ”Okay.”

Zhou Yun didn’t return to the hotel and headed straight to the hospital.

She made her way to You Jiang’s hospital room.

It was a double room. Another person lay in the other bed, apparently asleep, eyes closed and motionless.

You Jiang lay in the bed by the window, with an assistant-type person sitting beside him, looking down at a phone.

Zhou Yun, along with Zhou Lan and Zheng Xiaojue, entered and softly called out, ”Mr. Jiang.”

You Jiang was reading with an e-reader. Hearing the voice, he looked up in surprise and, seeing Zhou Yun and the others, smiled with delight.

”Xiao Yun, Xiao Lan, why... are you here?”

Zhou Lan said, ”We arrived in the United States the day before yesterday. We heard about what happened to you, so we asked your agent and came to visit.”

They were carrying some items in their hands.

Zhou Yun held a bouquet of flowers.

The person who looked like an assistant took the items and placed the flowers in a vase.

Instead, You Jiang’s face showed some embarrassment, as if feeling ashamed of the incident. He said, ”I didn’t expect to encounter something like this.”
