Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 953: Chapter 582: [Chen Yin] (3)

If he were to stop now and no longer direct new projects, with his reputation and qualifications, he could comfortably live as an old artist.

But Kang Xin feels that he is far from needing retirement; he still has many impulses, the impulse to tell stories.

Different directors have different reasons for doing this job. Some directors also believe that film and television are not just about simple stories.

He certainly agrees with this point, but what interests him the most are the stories and the meaning behind them.

He is also pursuing innovation, interested in untried themes. That is why he wants to make ”Chen Yin”, a drama of suspense genre.

This is a genre Kang Xin has never filmed before, yet it has garnered significant attention in the market over these years.

In the suspense genre, the market has exploded with several works. Kang Xin didn’t initially plan to specifically create a suspense drama, but once the market became hot, platforms began scouring for related IPs, seeking projects, crafting scripts, and once things were set, they immediately formed teams. Hence, the suspense-themed scripts coming to Kang Xin have increased.

For a top director like Kang Xin, who is still active on the front lines and has just aired the hit ”Heart Inquiry”, all companies and platforms are certainly maintaining continuous contact with him. When there’s a suitable project, they surely hope to hire a director like Kang Xin to lead a project. With him directing, everyone feels more assured and optimistic.

”Chen Yin” is not a script prepared by Kang Xin’s company, but by another film production company, wanting to cooperate with Kang Xin, and develop it together with Kang Xin’s company. After working with Zhou Yun in ”Heart Inquiry”, Kang Xin already felt very positively about her, thinking she is a hardworking and talented actress. Later, Zhou Yun rose to popularity remarkably, becoming a market and award favorite, encouraging those around Kang Xin to collaborate with Zhou Yun again.

Kang Xin approached Zhou Yun, who agreed to the drama without hesitation, and that attitude moved Kang Xin deeply. He, with his long experience as a director, is very aware of how many big-name actors start playing hard to get after becoming famous. The fact that Zhou Yun could still offer this kind of attitude at this stage naturally moved Kang Xin.

For this reason, Kang Xin has been waiting for Zhou Yun’s schedule.

Many of Kang Xin’s friends are veteran directors who do not prefer hiring celebrities, especially big stars, as they often don’t want to compromise and accommodate these celebrities.

One aspect being the schedule.

Kang Xin, however, does not carry the airs of a famous director in this matter. He knows Zhou Yun’s schedule is difficult to secure, but he also believes Zhou Yun would not intentionally delay and not come.

His producer worries that Zhou Yun may end up being too busy to provide the previously agreed schedule.

”Director Kang, should we find a backup?” The producer has been tirelessly advising him, ”What if Zhou Yun can’t come because of something, our drama is prepared to start filming in December, and if we can’t find a heroine by then, our losses will be immense.”

Kang Xin only said Zhou Yun would not fail to come.

Zhou Yun has already signed a contract to perform; if she does not show up on time, she would have to pay the crew a penalty fee.

The penalty fee is substantial, but the producer’s concern is that other cooperating parties would definitely be willing to pay this penalty fee to pry Zhou Yun away.

Zhou Yun is almost priceless in the market now; many people wave money hoping to invite her to act, but cannot succeed.

...

Zhou Yun is unaware of Kang Xin’s various concerns about her.

”Deep Sea” is already gradually shooting to its end, the final part.

In this crew, Zhou Yun has an unprecedented feeling, which is steadiness, orderly.

This is related to the styles of Xu Jinbo and Cui Xidong, and also greatly linked to her increasingly refined acting skills.

She is now confident in herself, not worrying about her performance being bad, and meanwhile, Cui Xidong is not a director whose emotions fluctuate without considering the actors’ state, filming daily according to the set plan and rhythm, everyone feels particularly assured.

Xu Lingyue, He Wenyun, and others have successively finished filming, Xin Zhike joins the group.

Zhou Yun bid farewell to a group, and welcomed a new friend.

Xin Zhike is a very sunny and handsome young man.

Seeing him in person, Zhou Yun understood why as soon as he debuted, Yuehai let him play the leading male role.

He has a typical leading man face, with finely chiseled features and high visibility, most suited for youthful campus-themed works, playing those fantastical male leads.

When Xin Zhike joined the crew, he brought many gifts and gave Zhou Yun a painting on the first day.

It was an oil painting, which he said he bought while traveling abroad.
