Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 981: Chapter 590: Riding High on the Spring Breeze

Yin Linglin’s mood yesterday could be described as the epitome of triumph.

When the cast list of ”Chinese Warrior” was released, her phone suddenly vibrated like a plague of locusts had descended.

They were all congratulating her, expressing their anticipation.

Being able to compete for ”Chinese Warrior” this time, Yin Linglin described it as ”overcoming numerous challenges,” which was not an exaggeration.

If it weren’t for her outstanding English proficiency, along with her deeper roots in the film industry compared to others, and the strong recommendation from the Chinese investors, it would have been difficult for her to stand out among the many competitors and secure the role of the second female lead.

Only after experiencing a Hollywood blockbuster casting did Yin Linglin realize that many of the audition stories she saw in the news were merely rose-tinted promotions, proclaiming ”suiting the role is best” and ”acting over all else.”

The casting process for Hollywood blockbusters is no different from those in China.

They may have been ahead for years in industrial development, yet when it comes to matters involving people, they are not superior to Chinese films.

Acting skills are the foundation, but without connections, skills alone are futile.

Yin Linglin truly believed that Zhou Yun would star in ”Chinese Warrior,” as the entire circle buzzed with the rumor, and nobody doubted it.

As for Zhou Yun’s claim of not starring...

Haha, that was obviously a joke, and nobody believed it; whoever did was naïve.

What actor would admit to starring in a movie before the official announcement?

Who knew that an unknown actress like He Wenyun would land the female lead role.

This actress also starred alongside Zhou Yun in ”Deep Sea.”

After learning about this, Yin Linglin couldn’t help but feel a bit triumphant and schadenfreude.

She harbored complex emotions towards Zhou Yun, filled with admiration and jealousy among others. Sometimes she sincerely acknowledged Zhou Yun’s acting skills, admired and aspired to her achievements, yet other times she burned with jealousy, praying for misfortune upon Zhou Yun so that she could never act again, tossing and turning alone at home at night.

Before Zhou Yun appeared, Yin Linglin was the top choice for many film female leads, and even when not the first choice, others did not have such an overwhelming advantage to leave her with no chance.

However, after Zhou Yun’s emergence, she didn’t need the film companies to say it; she understood herself that if Zhou Yun agreed to take the role, she had no chance of competing.

Yet this time, Zhou Yun lost to He Wenyun in ”Chinese Warrior.”

Yin Linglin’s shock was beyond words.

Amidst the shock, she also felt relieved.

No matter what, she was chosen, and Zhou Yun wasn’t.

At the same time, there was a tinge of pride in her heart.

Her agent told her that ever since the news of her starring in ”Chinese Warrior” came out, inquiries for cooperation from brand partners surged, with almost everyone optimistic about the film, given that it was a Hollywood commercial blockbuster with significant potential impact.

She thought that He Xuran and Liu Zhikun’s feelings should be similar to hers, right?

However, they certainly couldn’t fully empathize with her.

After all, male actors and actresses face different groups and environments of competition.

Zhou Yun’s mood must be terrible, right?

With such thoughts, Yin Linglin welcomed the next day.

And then, she learned about ”Killing Song.”

...

”Killing Song?”

Su Yan suddenly straightened her back, her eyes filled with anger and disbelief, like a villain whose scheme had just failed, with the same aura.

She asked, ”Mélando’s new movie, she’s the female lead? When did Mélando start preparing such a film? How come we hadn’t heard a thing?”

She directed the question toward He Ting, her agent.

He Ting herself was in shock.

Before the official announcement, she hadn’t heard a single hint.

Typically, with such a major production, some news would leak out once the project got underway.

Just like with ”Chinese Warrior,” how long had various news been circulating before the official cast announcement?

How did Zhou Yun manage to connect with Mélando?

Looking at the hysterically angry Su Yan, He Ting, feeling helpless, said, ”Maybe she got in touch with Mélando’s higher-ups while promoting ’Behind the Scenes’ in the United States. You know, ’Behind the Scenes’ is currently being screened in the United States, and many are paying attention to Zhou Yun.”
