Chapter 956: Chapter 583: Imperially Granted Constable_3

Zhou Yun asked, ”Really? Who is it?”

Zhou Lan said, ”It’s hard to say, but this kind of phenomenon has always existed.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Then we must be careful with such people. In the future, when we make films ourselves, let’s try not to work with actors like this.”

”Sigh, we can’t be so arbitrary. Many people end up with scheduling conflicts, and there are all sorts of reasons for that. In a mature market, this is also a very normal phenomenon. Just make sure not to maliciously bail on someone,” Zhou Lan said. ”What surprises me is that Director Kang Xin doesn’t even have backup actors ready. Actually, no matter how good your relationship is with Director Kang, or how much he trusts you, from the perspective of preparing for a drama, having a backup actor is a safer choice.”

Listening to what Zhou Lan said, Zhou Yun couldn’t help but feel a bit moved.

She didn’t even know that Director Kang trusted her so much.

Zhou Lan added, ”There’s another thing. I need to borrow Yuk Chu for two days. She’ll have to take leave from the crew.”

”What’s up? Does she have work?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan nodded and said, ”She previously shot a drama called ’Imperially Granted Constable,’ and it’s scheduled to air. It’s airing tonight, and I’ve arranged a few promotional activities for her. The live connections can be done with the crew, but there’s a program recording and two magazine photoshoots that require leaving.”

Zhou Yun had heard about Yuk Chu’s drama.

”Yuk Chu has had quite a few dramas aired this year,” Zhou Yun said.

”That’s because she’s been in many productions,” Zhou Lan said. ”She’s simply a model of hard work, almost on par with you. When I went through her projects, guess what? She has eight dramas waiting to be aired, all shot in the past year.”

”Eight?” Zhou Yun exclaimed in shock, ”Why so many?”

Zhou Lan said, ”Many of them are supporting roles, which might not require much filming time, but she has indeed been filming non-stop throughout the year.”

Upon hearing this number from Zhou Lan, Zhou Yun finally realized just how diligent Yuk Chu had been in the past year.

Zhou Lan said, ”With that in mind, I’m planning to do some marketing for Yuk Chu at the end of the year to build her image as a hard worker. The response to the dramas she’s been in this year has actually been decent. Especially the one aired in April, ’Despicable Love Object,’ where her role became quite popular, and many famous scenes went viral online. There are plenty of memes too. She’s the lead in ’Imperially Granted Constable,’ and I want to use this drama to give her a big push and see if we can make it a hit.”

”Have you watched this drama? How’s the quality?”

”It’s okay. Mainly, the script is solid, and the finished episodes have a good pace. The flaw is that several actors, including Yuk Chu, gave rather ordinary performances,” Zhou Lan said. ”If you ask me, they’re quite unqualified, but this drama was originally a low-budget web drama. When Yuk Chu filmed it, ’Despicable Love Object’ hadn’t aired yet. The producer probably cast Yuk Chu for her ’fame.’ The other actors are newcomers with unknown names, so it’s not surprising if their acting skills are poor.”

”Wouldn’t promoting this drama be counterproductive?”

”Not necessarily. Everyone’s acting is lacking, and Yuk Chu isn’t the worst among them,” Zhou Lan said. ”Although she didn’t perform outstandingly, it didn’t reach an eye-burning degree. Setting aside these issues, the plot is still very engaging. I ended up watching up to episode six in one go. The director and writer are quite talented.”

”Then the production team isn’t bad, right? Why would such a team hire this kind of cast?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan said, ”They all lack any reputation. The director and writer have no fame either. Even if the script is well-written, it can’t reach well-known actors. Such a team would get stuck at the first hurdle.”

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun couldn’t help but frown.

”That’s too arbitrary.”

”Sigh, the teams behind actors now focus on the production team’s past works. I think ’Imperially Granted Constable’ is worth promoting for Yuk Chu,” Zhou Lan said. ”I’ve already reported this matter to the company. He Yong agreed and allocated a marketing budget.”

”Then put your skills to good use,” Zhou Yun smiled.

Zhou Lan nodded.

”Tonight, help Yuk Chu by posting a Weibo to promote the drama.”
