Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 948: Chapter 581: Change

”Huh?”

Zhou Yun turned around in confusion, facing Xu Jinbo again.

Xu Jinbo’s face showed hesitation.

”I wanted to ask you to help me see if Xu Zixiang has the potential to be an actor.”

”What?” Zhou Yun was taken aback.

She instinctively wanted to say, Xu Jinbo, you’re a big producer yourself, aren’t you the most clear about whether your son has the potential to be an actor? You’re the one who selects actors.

But this thought quickly disappeared from Zhou Yun’s mind.

She soon understood what Xu Jinbo wanted to ask.

”Well, as for whether he has the potential to be an actor, you’re his dad and a producer, surely you know better than I do. At least his appearance is good; where he can go from here depends on his own luck,” Zhou Yun said. ”He’s only twelve now; if he really can’t concentrate on his studies, he can try acting first. But even if he wants to take the path of an actor, he still needs to attend a performing arts school later. He can’t just stop studying now.”

Xu Jinbo sighed, saying, ”I’ve been observing him these days, and he really doesn’t seem cut out for studying.”

Zhou Yun said, ”He’s only twelve, in middle school. How can you tell so quickly?”

Xu Jinbo said, ”Ask him to write something; out of a hundred words, there can be around ten errors.”

”Then have him learn a few words every day. Just because he’s an actor doesn’t mean he can be illiterate,” Zhou Yun said. ”Why spoil him like this? It’s not an intelligence issue. Memorizing words is a rote learning thing; there’s nothing that can’t be learned. If a child doesn’t learn well, it’s the parents who aren’t strict enough.”

Xu Jinbo: ”...”

For some reason, he felt like he’d just been lectured by Zhou Yun.

As a father, Xu Jinbo indeed never disciplined Xu Zixiang. His job kept him away from home for long stretches, which prevented him from participating in Xu Zixiang’s upbringing.

However, like any parent, even though he couldn’t be there to witness Xu Zixiang growing up, he hoped for his success.

No parent doesn’t wish for their child to grow up successful.

Xu Jinbo understood Zhou Yun’s point, suddenly realizing he might have given up too early.

The main reason was that Xu Zixiang, after coming to work at the film set, did not complain as he had expected.

He worked energetically every day, from dawn till dusk.

Xu Jinbo couldn’t help but wonder if Xu Zixiang truly wasn’t suited for academics.

Zhou Yun advised, ”Producer Xu, maybe you should consider transferring your son to another school.”

”Transfer?” Xu Jinbo was somewhat surprised. ”Transfer to where?”

”Where you’re usually staying, just transfer him there.”

”But I’m usually at the film set. Wherever the crew is shooting, that’s where I stay,” Xu Jinbo said. ”I don’t really have a fixed place.”

”But in any case, you periodically return to the company, right?” Zhou Yun said. ”Even when you’re following the crew, you occasionally have to return to the company, so why not arrange for Xu Zixiang to study in Shanghai? At least every time you come back to the company, you can visit home or check in on his school.”

Xu Jinbo chuckled awkwardly, unsure of what to say.

Zhou Yun said, ”Your son actually idolizes you; he wants to be with you.”

Xu Jinbo now had even less to say.

Zhou Yun had said what needed to be said, shrugged at Xu Jinbo, and said, ”I’ll head out now, you think about it.”

”Thanks.” Xu Jinbo nodded at Zhou Yun as a gesture of thanks.

After Zhou Yun left Xu Jinbo’s office, she found Xu Zixiang peeking in from outside, paying attention to the movement in his dad’s office.

She pouted and waved.

”Come here.”

Xu Zixiang, not knowing the reason, swaggered over, raised his chin in a proud manner, and asked, ”What do you want with me?”

Zhou Yun: ”I’m asking you, why are your grades so poor?”

Xu Zixiang looked shocked, and even somewhat incredulous, saying, ”How should I know why my grades are so poor? You should ask my teacher.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Your poor grades, why should I ask your teacher about that? Don’t you have any clue yourself?”

Xu Zixiang: ”...You’re being unreasonable.”

”I’m asking you, do you pay attention in class?” Zhou Yun asked.

Xu Zixiang didn’t think twice before nodding, ”Yes.”

”Do you really absorb stuff into your mind, or are you just pretending?” Zhou Yun followed up.

Xu Zixiang furrowed his brows, not answering.
