Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 928: Chapter 574: Strange Rules

Zhou Yun didn’t know how to describe her feelings.

This feeling is hard to convey to others.

She doesn’t want these directors to stop giving her any guiding opinions because of her supposed status and aura.

She knows that many directors are like this now, coaxing and flattering the already famous stars, never criticizing them.

Zhou Yun doesn’t want her film set to become like this.

No performance is without flaws, right?

It’s impossible for every scene to be perfect, right?

Zhou Yun has higher standards for herself; she doesn’t want to start resting on her laurels and become complacent, heading towards a dead end.

There’s no other way, Zhou Yun can only demand more from herself.

For every scene, she meticulously analyzes, rehearses, and tries to find the right feeling, asking Yuk Chu for her opinion.

But Yuk Chu couldn’t provide many constructive comments either.

She truly thought Zhou Yun’s performance was impeccable and flawless.

Zhou Yun could only let it go.

When she finally realized it, she suddenly noticed that she hadn’t seen Xu Jinbo for two days.

As the primary person in charge of the drama, Xu Jinbo usually appeared frequently on the set, and his presence was often visible, but now he was nowhere to be found, and no one knew where he had gone.

Zhou Yun asked Yuk Chu, and Yuk Chu said, ”It seems I heard something urgent happened at home, and he had to leave in a hurry.”

”What kind of emergency happened at his home?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise.

She recalled overhearing a couple of sentences on the phone from Xu Jinbo that day.

Yuk Chu shook her head, saying, ”I don’t know either, no one knows.”

”He left, can the crew still operate normally?” Zhou Yun asked, ”A lot of expenses need his signature, don’t they?”

”He must have temporarily authorized someone else, I don’t know, but the scenes are still being shot as usual, aren’t they?” Yuk Chu wasn’t worried.

But Zhou Yun knew for sure, there must be someone on site who can make decisions, otherwise, if something happens, everything gets postponed, waiting for the person with authority to return, wasting a lot of time.

And what Zhou Yun was worried about happened.

The group of extras hadn’t received their wages in three days, so they stirred up a commotion.

When they caused a stir, the crew was in the middle of filming, and Zhou Yun was rehearsing lines with Yuk Chu when suddenly a stir started nearby.

The commotion was loud, resulting in the filming being interrupted as it was impossible to continue.

Zhou Yun turned her head towards the direction of the noise and saw more than a dozen people arguing fiercely with an assistant director.

”What’s happening?” Yuk Chu asked in surprise.

Zhou Yun instinctively turned to look at Cui Xidong, only to see that he was just sitting in place, not moving, seemingly not intending to understand the situation or solve the problem.

”You’ve held back our money for three days, what are we supposed to eat?” the leader angrily shouted, ”You promised a daily settlement, but kept postponing it! Where’s the integrity? Such a large production, and you even delay this small amount of money from us?”

With the crowd on that side being large and powerful, Zhou Yun wanted to go over to help coordinate and resolve things, but didn’t dare to go.

If the opposite side truly intended to do something aggressive, she wouldn’t be able to handle it alone.

The assistant director spoke earnestly to them, ”Rest assured, this money will not remain unpaid. It’s just that our producer had to leave due to an emergency, and without his signature, we can’t disburse the money! Please understand me, okay? Our large team is filming here, you think we’d run away? We don’t want this to become a big issue either, it’s really not intentional to delay your pay, but we have to wait for the producer to come back.”

”Then when will the producer return?” the leader asked aggressively.

The assistant director replied bitterly, ”I don’t know either.”

The leader was immediately infuriated upon hearing this.

”You don’t even know when he’ll be back, how can we trust you without any certainty? If he never comes back, does that mean you’ll never pay us?”

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun finally understood.

The crew had hired these dozen or so people to work as extras, with the agreement being that they would be paid daily, meaning they’d receive compensation after each day’s work.

However, to distribute this payment, according to normal procedures, Xu Jinbo’s signature was required.
