Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 916: Chapter 571: About the Crew, About the Actors

”He Wenyun is really lucky. Before going to the United States, she basically had no fame in her home country. Even now, the information about her online mainly revolves around the film ’Deep Sea,’ and nobody really knows anything about her personally.”

Zhou Lan was on the phone with Zhou Yun, sharing some information she had found.

”However, as soon as she got to the United States, she was cast in a Spielberg film as the third female lead. This is a highly enviable opportunity for any actress from any country,” Zhou Lan said. ”You should realize how incredible it is that this opportunity landed on her. The key is, this film never had a public casting call; it was all kept under wraps. I asked around, and no one received any news about this film. But He Wenyun got the role while still in her home country, and I’m very curious about where her information channel came from.”

Zhou Yun: ”Let’s not worry about that for now. She told me she received an audition invitation for the film ’Samurai.’ I’m thinking, why not let Xiao Jing give it a try?”

”Hmm?” Zhou Lan was a bit surprised. ”Xiao Jing?”

”Even if she doesn’t get the part, gaining more experience in auditions for such international productions will be helpful in the future,” Zhou Yun said. ”Moreover, Xiao Jing is about to head to the United States for the ’Behind the Scenes’ press tour, right? She’ll definitely have a lot of contact with Paimon people. If Xiao Jing can land a decent role in the film ’Samurai,’ it will greatly help her gain international recognition.”

”That’s true.” Zhou Lan nodded. ”It’s just that, didn’t you say last time we need to consider Xiao Jing’s feelings? You’re not planning to act in this film, but you’re letting her audition. Won’t she overthink it?”

”That’s a different matter. I’ve never had any contact with ’Samurai.’ Any rumors of collaboration are just rumors,” Zhou Yun said. ”If Xiao Jing gives up on ’Samurai’ because of this rumor, she might need to see a psychologist.”

Zhou Lan laughed and said, ”You’re right, I’ll make the arrangements.”

”Okay.” Zhou Yun said, ”Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting can also help make some introductions. Even just having a small role in such a big production is good. At this stage, the most important thing for them is to make their résumés look more impressive, gain experience, and prepare for the future.”

”Yes.” Zhou Lan said, ”Xiao Yun, I have a few upcoming matters to discuss with you.”

”Okay.”

”The first thing is that Paimon has officially decided to support ’Behind the Scenes’ in its Oscar campaign. Right now, ’Behind the Scenes’ has made over ten million at the box office in the United States, which is the highest-grossing Chinese film in the U.S. in recent years, and the number is still growing. Shi Luoqi and Xue Qin have been busy in the U.S., attending PR events, and Mr. You Jiang is also there. As for Xiao Jing, I’ll arrange for her to go over as soon as she’s done filming ’Youth Story.’ The key is you. When can you go?” Zhou Lan said. ”’Deep Sea’ is a short series, not much shooting time, but it still takes dozens of days. Once you’re free, it’ll probably be mid to late November, but then in December, you have to shoot Director Kang Xin’s series. There’s no way to do much in this short time. Right now, Paimon is also hesitating on whether to run PR for your Best Actress case. If you can’t participate in the PR activities, there’s basically no chance.”

Zhou Yun listened and sighed.

”It really is a dilemma.” She hesitated for a moment and said, ”Sister Lan, I already promised Director Kang to shoot this series. I can’t go back on my word. If there’s no other way, I’ll have to give up on the promotion in the United States.”

”Okay, I expected this might be your decision. I just wanted to confirm one last time with you.” Zhou Lan said, ”The second thing is about Director Kang Xin’s series. The fee offered by Director Kang’s side is one-third lower than the market rate. He Yong is not very happy and has privately contacted Director Kang’s company, trying to place another company actor in one of the main roles, so Director Kang came to me about it.”

”Nonsense.” Zhou Yun bluntly commented, ”Sister Lan, tell Director Kang not to worry about He Yong’s request. Do I not even have the autonomy over what roles I take and how much I get paid?”
