Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 911: Chapter 569: The Parachuted Woman

The two of them were just chatting when Zhou Yun saw He Wenyun coming over with a tray.

Zhou Yun proactively greeted her.

He Wenyun showed them a bright smile and said, ”Can I join you for lunch?”

”Of course, have a seat,” Zhou Yun said generously.

He Wenyun sat down next to Zhou Yun and said, ”This is my first time participating in a domestic script reading, very refreshing; I’ve heard before that in China, they don’t have such script readings. Now it seems, those were untrue rumors.”

”Were you filming in the United States before?” Yuk Chu asked, ”I heard you were filming there, what’s their habit like?”

”Actually, I only shot two films, so my experience isn’t really referential,” He Wenyun told them, ”I know many people say I acted a lot in the United States, but those are rumors, don’t believe them.”

She spread her hands open, making a gesture of helplessness.

”What films did you shoot?” Yuk Chu asked curiously.

He Wenyun said, ”Two Paimon movies, both were just supporting roles, nothing to speak of. That’s why I returned to China to seek opportunities; lucky enough, upon my return, I encountered a good script like ’Deep Sea.’ Although it’s also a supporting role, the character is much richer than what I got in the United States.”

Yuk Chu: ”There are many actors domestically who are willing to play supporting roles in Hollywood.”

”I’m not willing,” He Wenyun said, ”I didn’t know I could act before. When I realized I could, I didn’t want to waste my time and energy. The roles I could get in Hollywood aren’t worth my hard work.”

In just a few words, Zhou Yun had nearly figured out why He Wenyun returned from the United States and why she decided to act in ’Deep Sea.’

Moreover, in just a few sentences, He Wenyun’s confidence in herself was already exposed.

Zhou Yun rarely heard an actress openly praising her own acting skills.

Chinese people tend to be modest and cautious.

He Wenyun said, ”Am I too unhumble?”

Suddenly, as if realizing her problem, she smiled a bit awkwardly. When she smiled, she even stuck out her tongue a little, feeling embarrassed, completely different from the confidence she exuded seconds ago. However, this portrayal immediately compensated for the slight arrogance she showed just now—indeed, she’s actually kind of a cute woman.

Zhou Yun doesn’t quite like those flamboyant, self-satisfied people.

Although He Wenyun’s words weren’t so much to make Zhou Yun think she’s one of those people, honestly, Zhou Yun still felt a little uncomfortable.

He Wenyun’s embarrassment came at the right time, dispelling some of Zhou Yun’s negative impressions of her.

After this lunch, He Wenyun’s impression improved somewhat in Zhou Yun’s eyes.

She went back to her room to rest, took a nap, and continued to attend the script reading in the afternoon.

But a bad thing happened.

A young actress named Liu Linglu questioned some of her lines.

”I think under normal circumstances, a person wouldn’t talk like this,” Liu Linglu said. ”Even if my character in the script is a love rival to Sister Yuk Chu’s character, I wouldn’t so purposefully and foolishly pick on Sister Yuk Chu, right? I feel my character is intentionally stupid, illogical.”

Upon hearing the actors comment like this on the character painstakingly created, the screenwriter immediately countered: ”There are all kinds of people in this world, there are smart people and there are foolish ones. If everyone’s behavior conformed to normal logic, how would there be conflicts and contradictions? Different people’s logic is inherently different.”

”But this is just pretending to be stupid,” Liu Linglu said, ”making the character foolish just for the sake of being foolish.”

”Do you think to portray someone’s foolishness, there needs to be an arranged foolish reason?” the screenwriter retorted, ”Foolish is just foolish.”

Liu Linglu said angrily, ”Aren’t you just using my character to highlight Sister Yuk Chu’s pity and innocence?”

The screenwriter almost laughed in frustration.

”Isn’t that the case?” she said, ”In the script, there are good people, naturally, there are bad people, there are smart ones, naturally, there are foolish ones. Some are cunningly bad, and some are foolishly bad. You’ve got a foolishly bad character, so just act in the direction of foolishness; if there’s no diversity, wouldn’t one He Wenyun be enough? Same function, why have two actors?”
