Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 908: Chapter 568: Alone

”He wants to go home.”

Yuk Chu’s words puzzled Zhou Yun and made her feel strange.

”No, if he wants to go home, why is he telling you that?”

Yuk Chu: ”What I mean is, he doesn’t want to be in this line of work anymore, something happened recently at his home.”

”Something happened?” Zhou Yun asked in confusion, ”What happened?”

”His dad got seriously ill; his family kept it from him until recently just told him.” Yuk Chu said, ”He’s been struggling a lot, not knowing what to do; his dad’s illness needs a lot of money, but in his current acting job, he doesn’t make much money, so he’s hesitating whether to give up acting and go back home to run his dad’s factory.”

Zhou Yun was a bit dazed.

Because this was the first time she had heard of this.

She didn’t know that something so major had happened in Yin Zhou’s family.

”This is the first time I’ve heard about it.” Zhou Yun didn’t know what to say at the moment, ”Actually, my first proper role was acted with him, though he rarely mentions it, I could see that he really loves performing; he often rehearses with me in private, and we discuss how to act together. It would be such a pity if he stops being an actor.”

Yuk Chu: ”Yes, I told him the same thing. I know how passionate he is about acting. He’s not very lucky, not like Gu Huaichun who got leading roles as soon as he started; even after acting with you in ’Eighth Heartbeat,’ he wasn’t particularly valued by Yuehai, they just pushed him into doing a money-grabbing sequel to ’Eighth Heartbeat’ with Xu Siyao. Afterwards, when they offered him roles, they didn’t consider the quality or whether it suited him; whoever offered the highest pay got him. You know? The reason he was able to convince Yuehai to let him act in ’Falling Leaves’ was by agreeing to halve his pay for another self-produced drama.”

Zhou Yun was shocked to hear what Yuk Chu said.

For Yin Zhou to act in ”Falling Leaves” might have seemed like an unparalleled opportunity, but who would have thought he had to sacrifice his benefits in other areas for it.

Zhou Yun found it unbelievable.

Could it be that after receiving the invitation for ”Falling Leaves,” Yuehai still didn’t agree to let him act?

”Yin Zhou has never told me these things.”

Yuk Chu: ”How could he possibly tell you? He’s the kind of person who doesn’t like causing trouble for others. Think about it, if he wanted to be in ’Falling Leaves,’ he just needed to call you, and he would at least get an audition opportunity. But he never called. I actually told him that if he wanted to act, he should say something to you and ask for a little help. Whether it worked out or not was another matter, but he said he didn’t want to trouble you; he didn’t want to trouble anyone.”

Zhou Yun let out a sigh.

”Has he... already made a decision?”

Yuk Chu shook his head, ”Not yet, he’s still hesitating, but most of his work afterwards has been stopped; he’s going home today.”

”With such a big issue happening at his home, not even a whisper of it got out.”

”The company’s keeping it confidential; they probably don’t want everyone to know.” Yuk Chu said, ”Yuehai’s always been rather ruthless, you know that.”

”I do know.” Zhou Yun said, ”I’ve never liked working with Yuehai’s company. When cooperating on ’Eighth Heartbeat,’ it was very unpleasant, so for a long time, I didn’t cooperate with Yuehai again until much later with a new project, ’Deep Sea.’”

”I heard back then, during your negotiations, you requested for me to act in it too, weren’t you met with a lot of opposition?”

”Yes, but I told them at the time, if they wanted me in this drama, they had to agree to let you in too.” Zhou Yun said, ”After they found out about you and Yin Zhou’s relationship, they did so many excessive things to you; this is what you deserve, they owe you.”

”I don’t want their compensation; if they compensate me, what does that count for? Does it mean everything is settled? I can’t forgive those people.” Yuk Chu finished, letting out a cold laugh, ”Moreover, after that incident, they somehow thought that Yin Zhou’s workload was too light, hence he had time to date, so they made him spin like a top, not a single day off, crammed his schedule full.”
