Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 919: Chapter 571: On the Crew and the Actors (Part 4)

Actually, coordinating the shooting schedule of actors is a major challenge, regardless of the script, whether the cast is star-studded or entirely made up of newcomers.

Where there are people, there are thoughts; where there are thoughts, there are conflicts; and where there are conflicts...

Naturally, there are clashes.

Therefore, in a crew, the producer is often the real behind-the-scenes hero who can settle everyone.

Director? Generally, the director is only responsible for the content part.

Xu Jinbo also arranged to have dinner with a Hong Kong TV station’s film acquisition director in the evening.

The TV station over in Hong Kong is very interested in this suspense-themed TV drama and wants to buy the broadcast rights.

Xu Jinbo is naturally willing.

Being able to sell copyrights to more places and markets means making more money.

This is the key criterion for measuring a producer’s capability.

Moreover, this channel itself is very important. Many times, people see a film and television company that seems to be declining for years, with each drama lukewarm, seemingly at a loss, yet the company survives and keeps launching new shows. Why? It’s very likely because the company has extensive overseas channels; besides the mainland, it has broad connections in other regions and countries willing to buy their dramas. Perhaps one pays cannot recuperate the cost, but selling to a dozen countries and regions altogether results in a substantial income.

It’s just that the people from Hong Kong would like to meet Zhou Yun tonight.

Xu Jinbo thought about it and decided to invite Zhou Yun to see if she would join him.

Zhou Yun had no plans in the evening, so after a little thought, she agreed.

This made Xu Jinbo suspect that today was his lucky day; wasn’t it enough to smoothly talk business with Yuk Chu, but now Zhou Yun agreed to attend a dinner meeting just as smoothly?

Xu Jinbo felt quite amazed inside.

He didn’t know that Zhou Yun actually had her own considerations.

She is currently starring in several TV dramas, and although they are popular, they are only popular in the mainland.

Compared to American and Korean dramas, Chinese language dramas have virtually no influence in the world.

Zhou Yun has a thought in her mind; it’s not only movies, but TV dramas can also go abroad.

Starting from Hong Kong’s once-glorious market.

Zhou Yun has never specifically attacked the Hong Kong market, compared to her mainland popularity, her reputation in Hong Kong is mainly as Song Chi’s girlfriend.

Song Chi is very popular in Hong Kong, but Zhou Yun is not. Her movies, her dramas, none have screened or aired in Hong Kong, only some pirated versions downloaded online, which have not formed a large scale.

Therefore, Zhou Yun is quite willing to attend this dinner; if ”Deep Sea” broadcasts well in Hong Kong, it will greatly increase her reputation in the Hong Kong market, benefiting her subsequent development. Whether in film or the fashion industry, many elders in Hong Kong still hold the discourse power in the Chinese-speaking circle.

On the other hand, with this suspense genre, if ”Deep Sea” performs well in both the mainland and Hong Kong, creating a buzz, it could also attract the attention of film buyers from other countries.

Just like ”Dingfengbo,” due to its combination of crime and news themes, it was early acquired by many overseas streaming sites. However, ”Heart Inquiry,” despite being more popular domestically, is hindered by its ancient costume power struggle theme, and thus not welcomed by other markets, its international market expansion not as favorable as ”Dingfengbo.”

In the evening, Zhou Yun met with the Hong Kong TV Station’s acquisition director, Xu Caiqin.

Xu Caiqin looked to be in her early fifties, wore heavy makeup, and spoke strange Mandarin that was barely understandable.

Xu Caiqin enthusiastically said to Zhou Yun, ”I’m a fan of Miss Zhou! I previously watched ’Behind the Scenes’ in the mainland, Miss Zhou’s performance was so spectacular, what a promising young talent.”

Zhou Yun modestly shook her head, indicating no.

Xu Caiqin was a seasoned acquisition director. She entered the industry at a young age, having worked in many positions such as production, distribution, assistant director, etc., being very knowledgeable about the behind-the-scenes departments of the industry. After taking charge of acquisitions, she even combined her experience and demonstrated sharp insight, achieving excellent results within the industry.

In recent years, she has maintained close relations with mainland film and television production companies, specially purchasing a batch of good dramas that align with the tastes of Hong Kong citizens, and they have broadcasted excellently.
