Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 906: Chapter 566: Idle Chatter

Zhou Yun’s words reminded Zhou Lan.

Zhou Lan fell into a habitual way of thinking; a film unsuitable for Zhou Yun might be suitable for Wang Jing. So, she first thought of Wang Jing, hoping to use this opportunity to help her rise to the next level.

But Zhou Lan didn’t consider Wang Jing’s feelings or how she might perceive the situation.

A delicious cake is indeed wonderful, but if this cake is something others didn’t want and then bestowed upon you, would you still feel it’s a delicious cake?

Zhou Lan came back to her senses.

Zhou Yun said, ”Wang Jing is no longer a newcomer. We need to timely adjust our attitude towards her.”

Zhou Lan nodded.

”That’s true, indeed I overlooked it.”

In any other company, an actress who won the Lingjun Award for Best Newcomer and received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress would definitely be a focal point for nurturing and promoting.

It’s just that in comparison, Wang Jing’s achievements do not seem as outstanding because of Zhou Yun’s presence.

But in reality, among the actresses currently signed with Chengqian Entertainment, Wang Jing is the second to have genuinely received three major awards.

Zhou Lan said, ”I will strive to secure more lead roles in movies for her.”

”Yes.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”It’s time for her to take the lead herself.”

Zhou Lan suddenly sighed, ”I’m just worried that she might not carry it through at this moment. After all, to really talk about carrying box office success, she indeed doesn’t have that capability yet.”

”Then find her a male lead who can carry the box office.” Zhou Yun said, ”Besides, how many truly have that capability? Ninety-nine percent of films still rely on their own quality, don’t they? No matter how many celebrities star in a film, it can’t save a bad one.”

Zhou Lan nodded.

She suddenly felt enlightened and had an idea.

At this stage, Wang Jing should actually star in films where the male lead is the main focus, and she plays the secondary role, or even significant supporting roles. In short, she should be able to highlight her leading status without the pressure of being the primary lead.

Whereas Zhou Yun is not suited to play secondary roles to male leads anymore. With her current status and ability, she is undoubtedly the main lead in any film. Thinking of this, Wang Jing immediately devised a follow-up plan.

Zhou Lan said, ”I hope her acting can become even more refined. Actually, the film ’Behind the Scenes’ is a great opportunity; if her acting were more mature and exquisite, with the richness of this film and this role, she would have competitive strength for the Best Supporting Actress award.”

Zhou Yun: ”Don’t set the bar too high, just take it one step at a time, you can’t expect everyone to act well right from the start.”

Zhou Lan thought to herself, wasn’t it you who set high expectations?

...

On the day Zhou Yun joined the crew of ’Deep Sea,’ the sun was shining brightly.

Zheng Xiaojue brought along an exceptionally large sunshade, holding it over Zhou Yun’s head, protecting her entirely.

Although she joined the crew, the filming didn’t start immediately; it began with three days of script reading sessions.

After checking into the hotel, Zhou Yun dined with Zhou Lan and Zheng Xiaojue in the hotel restaurant.

Zhou Lan said to Zhou Yun, ”I’m going to meet with Xu Jinbo and the others in a bit, then I’ll head back. There’s still a lot of work to be done at the company. If any issues arise here in the crew, if anything happens, Xiaoju, you must inform me immediately. If it’s not something major, you can handle it yourself. Now you must also shoulder half of your Sister Xiao Yun’s agent duties. Think twice before every action, don’t act rashly, and don’t be reckless, okay?”

Her following words turned towards Zheng Xiaojue.

Zheng Xiaojue nodded, ”Sister Lan, don’t worry, I’ll be extremely cautious.”

Zhou Lan glanced at Zheng Xiaojue, hesitated for two seconds, ”Why am I so worried then?”

Zheng Xiaojue said earnestly, ”Sister Lan, you don’t need to worry, leave it to me, there will definitely be no problems, rest assured.”

She had an air of confidence, as if making a promise.

Zhou Lan couldn’t help but laugh.

”Well, you said it, so you’ve got to deliver.”

Zheng Xiaojue nodded firmly, as if making some kind of commitment.

Halfway through dinner, a very beautiful woman with a poised manner approached, standing beside their table.

”Hello, Zhou Yun, I am He Wenyun.”

This extraordinarily beautiful woman greeted them proactively, showing a radiant smile and exuding great friendliness.

”Not sure if you know me? I’ll be working with you in the upcoming film ’Deep Sea.’”

Being greeted so suddenly, Zhou Yun was a bit surprised, uttered an ”ah,” nodded, and said, ”Wenyun, hello, I’ve heard about it.”

She smiled at He Wenyun.

He Wenyun nodded, ”Here’s to a pleasant cooperation.”

She smiled gracefully at Zhou Yun, nodded, and then walked away elegantly.

Zhou Lan watched He Wenyun walk off into the distance before speaking in a low voice, ”That woman is quite formidable, Zhou Yun.”

Zhou Yun responded with a sound of acknowledgment.

Since Zhou Yun became a Movie Queen, she’s rarely been addressed by her full name face-to-face. It’s either Sister Xiao Yun or affectionately Zhou Yun.

The way He Wenyun greeted her just a while ago, Zhou Yun couldn’t remember the last time someone did that.

However, He Wenyun’s demeanor was so normal, so natural, as if that’s just how things should be done.

Zhou Lan said, ”She seems to be quite a tough character.”

”It’s fine; I have no competitive relationship with her.” Zhou Yun told Zhou Lan, ”I’ll keep our relationship on a friendly level.”

”In just that short moment, I had a very strong sense that this woman would not quietly stay in this crew, she’s very ambitious and has her own ideas. Most importantly, your current fame and status don’t seem to affect her at all, she simply doesn’t care.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

”It’s just a brief encounter, don’t overanalyze it.” Zhou Yun laughed, ”Let’s finish dinner first.”

After dinner, Zhou Lan went back to her room, packed her things, and left the hotel.

Zhou Yun did some simple stretching exercises in her hotel room.

Yuk Chu suddenly knocked at the door to find her.

Zhou Yun opened the door for her, letting her in.

”When did you arrive?” Zhou Yun asked.

”I arrived in the morning.” Yuk Chu said, ”You came in the afternoon, right?”

”Yes.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”Are the directors here?”

”I haven’t seen them, not sure if they’ve arrived or not, but they’ll certainly show up tomorrow because tomorrow is the script reading.” Yuk Chu sat on the sofa, watching Zhou Yun stretch, ”Ah, it’s my first time playing such a complex role, I almost want to back out.”

”You can do it, why back out.” Zhou Yun said, ”It’s such a great opportunity, and we can act as friends in the film, isn’t that wonderful?”

”Oh, I know, I was just saying.” Yuk Chu shrugged, ”Acting with you is quite stressful, afraid I can’t keep up.”

”Nonsense.” Zhou Yun said, ”Your acting is good, I’ve seen your every film, in recent years, your acting skills have visibly improved, you must have put in a lot of effort?”

”What effort? Just a lot of contemplation.” Yuk Chu said, ”I don’t have those bursts of inspiration, so while reading the script, I analyze more carefully, more multilayered, try to act more richly, instead of just making facial expressions. I’ve studied many performances that won awards, observing how they acted, and summarized my own methodology.”

Zhou Yun looked at Yuk Chu in surprise, ”So impressive?”

”Intend to make a living in this field, must work harder.” Yuk Chu sighed, ”In the future, I’ll be relying on this to eat.”

Zhou Yun laughed.

”Exactly.”
