Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 939: Chapter 577: Counterattack (Part 3)

She originally thought that He Wenyun was a vested interest holder in Yuehai; if it wasn’t that Yuehai valued her, how would she have parachuted in to act in this drama? But He Wenyun unexpectedly criticized Yuehai’s special mechanisms directly, which surprised Zhou Yun.

”But fortunately, for now, they still can’t control us completely.” Yuk Chu said.

However, soon the impact of Huang Zhong’s visit this time showed.

He didn’t know what he reported to Yuehai, but the result was a significant decline in the working environment and quality of life.

There were no changes on Zhou Yun’s side, but the staff and other minor actors’ treatment was not as good as before.

Previously, every actor was provided with a private car for transportation to and fro the set, but now, except for Zhou Yun, Yuk Chu, He Wenyun, and a few senior veteran actors, all other actors could only take the crew’s bus to travel between the film set, hotel, dressing room, and other places.

On another note, before, there was a fruit stand and snack rack set on the set, because many times the crew couldn’t eat on time during shoots, and would miss meal times, resulting in meal boxes going cold. These provided people with something they could eat anytime.

After these were canceled, many people had big objections.

Xu Jinbo never explained anything, but within the crew, news was flying everywhere, and basically no one was unaware that it had to do with Huang Zhong’s last ”inspection”.

Soon, there were rumors that Yuehai believed that the crew was spending too lavishly, so he ordered Xu Jinbo to control expenses on such matters.

In fact, how much can these things really cost?

It all uses minimal cost to give everyone a nice feeling.

Actors taking a bus for transit, objectively speaking, indeed has no issue, buses can work. But actors need to act before the camera; some have to run between A and B units, squeezing into a bus with others back and forth. It’s affecting their condition at the very least.

Zhou Yun felt especially speechless.

Despite the complaints being many, Xu Jinbo remained unmoved. This surprised Zhou Yun; she originally thought, even if Xu Jinbo couldn’t openly oppose Yuehai’s decision in this matter, he would still fulfill his responsibilities as a producer to calm everyone’s emotions as much as possible, as this helps to keep the crew relatively stable.

Why did Xu Jinbo let negative emotions among the crew ferment continuously?

Zhou Yun had a guess in her mind.

...

Yuehai has various departments responsible for different businesses, with a deputy general manager dedicated to each of them.

In film content production, the person in charge at Yuehai is called Jiang Dingliang.

Generally speaking, Jiang Dingliang is responsible for the overarching direction of content production and wouldn’t interfere with specific projects.

Jiang Dingliang is almost one of the most powerful executives at Yuehai.

After all, Yuehai is a video platform, and film content is its largest sector.

Whether it’s Huang Zhong or Xu Jinbo, internally at Yuehai, they have to heed Jiang Dingliang.

For any drama, he decides the budget, and how much support it gets—all rely on Jiang Dingliang’s attitude.

Yet, people in high positions rarely appear before others.

Zhou Yun just met Jiang Dingliang once. That meeting was when she went to Yuehai to formally confirm her role in ”Deep Sea”, and Jiang Dingliang, as one of Yuehai’s representatives, met her. In Zhou Yun’s impression, Jiang Dingliang had a very ”executive” aura, leaving no special impression on her.

Therefore, when Jiang Dingliang suddenly came to find her, she was momentarily dumbfounded.

”Miss Zhou, I came here today to see Jinbo and happened to learn you’re filming, so I wanted to meet you.” Jiang Dingliang smiled at Zhou Yun, ”I wonder if everything is going smoothly in your filming?”

Zhou Yun glanced at Xu Jinbo standing behind Jiang Dingliang; the latter’s expression was very normal, with no unusualness.

She couldn’t determine whether Jiang Dingliang’s sudden appearance was like Huang Zhong’s surprise visit or something else, so she was unsure of what she should say.

But thinking about Xu Jinbo’s ”indulgence” of the crew’s discontent in the past few days, Zhou Yun hesitated and decided to speak frankly.

”Everything’s going smoothly on my side, but, Mr. Jiang, to be frank, I don’t quite like receiving exceptionally special treatment within the crew.” Zhou Yun said, ”When news spreads, it makes me seem demanding and high-maintenance, which isn’t good for my professional image. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve been indulging in any abnormal treatment, but in this crew, it suddenly feels abnormal.”

”Oh?” Jiang Dingliang seemed surprised by her words, ”Miss Zhou, would you mind elaborating a bit more?”
