Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 910: Chapter 568: Alone

”Can you guarantee that if you go back to run your family’s factory, you’ll earn as much as you do now?” Zhou Yun asked back, ”If it were very profitable, I don’t think your family would have consumed half of its assets so quickly, right?”

Yin Zhou remained silent.

Zhou Yun said, ”I know your current pay isn’t high, but at least you’re familiar with acting. If you go back to take over the family factory, how long will it take for you to get the hang of it? Just because your father can make money doesn’t mean you will be able to. If you stay here, Gu Huaichun and I can both help you. As long as you’re not afraid of hard work, we can put in a good word for you to get roles with higher pay.”

Yin Zhou: ”I know, I know you mean well, it’s just that you helping me once or twice is manageable, but I can’t keep relying on you. In the entertainment industry, hard work doesn’t guarantee returns. In this line of work, talent outweighs effort, luck outweighs diligence. I don’t know if I’ll ever truly make it big in this lifetime, or if I’ll ever get to play a role worth bragging about. If there were no other issues, I could accept being mediocre all my life, as long as I’ve tried. But now, I can’t ignore my parents, or the real problems.”

The dilemmas Yin Zhou faced were all real ones.

Precisely because of this, Zhou Yun couldn’t impose her own thoughts onto Yin Zhou’s mind.

Moreover, she couldn’t say whose ideas were the right ones.

Everyone has their own choices.

”Hmm, Yin Zhou, I just want to say, if you need anything, call me anytime.”

The main purpose of Zhou Yun’s phone call tonight was to tell Yin Zhou this.

Yin Zhou said thank you.

They hung up.

Zhou Yun did a simple wash up, went to bed, but kept thinking about Yin Zhou, unable to sleep for a long time.

She was pondering, if she were in Yin Zhou’s situation, what would she do?

But this was unimaginable for her.

Because she didn’t have parents. In this world, in terms of blood relations, she was all alone.

...

Script readings have always been a crucial part of film and television production.

In recent years, some rushed groups eager for quick money stopped spending time on this, causing a trend where script readings fell out of favor for quite a while.

Poor productions lead to significant backlashes, but the quick money is already in hand.

No matter what, Zhou Yun insisted on having script readings.

This requirement was even written into her contract to ensure this step is preserved.

According to Zhou Yun’s experience, script readings have numerous benefits for the production later on, with many issues arising directly during these readings.

Simply put, having this step allows the level of understanding of the script, familiarity with the roles by the actors, and the grasp of the script by different departments to be assessed to some degree.

Don’t assume every actor is dedicated, will thoroughly read the script, memorize the lines, or that the production team will consider every detail before shooting.

Of course, most importantly, film and television production is always a collaborative endeavor. People need to get to know each other first to work well together later.

Zhou Yun didn’t deliberately enter the meeting room last.

She was among the last few to arrive.

The last actor to arrive was He Wenyun.

Many people looked at her with surprised eyes, as if wondering why she arrived so late on the first day of the reading.

In fact, she wasn’t late; she just didn’t arrive early.

The stares didn’t make He Wenyun feel anything unusual or inappropriate. She calmly took her seat at the place marked with her name and greeted everyone with eye contact.

She exuded an air of a big-name celebrity, with an unhurried aura.

Zhou Yun smiled slightly and said nothing.

Xu Jinbo clapped his hands, ”Since everyone is here, let’s start the first script reading today, okay? You all should know me; I’m the producer of this show, Xu Jinbo. Many of you have met me. It’s a rare opportunity to have so many remarkable actors participating in this show. I believe with all your involvement, it will surely succeed, especially since we’ve invited our Movie Queen of both the Qingmu Award and Lingjun Award this year, Zhou Yun, to star in it.”

Everyone applauded.

Being introduced as a Movie Queen in public like this always made Zhou Yun a bit embarrassed.

Even after experiencing it many times, she couldn’t ever be completely desensitized.

Zhou Yun made rounds introducing herself before officially starting the script reading.

Since the main scenes in this show revolved around Zhou Yun and Yuk Chu, the appearances of others were minimal. In practice, it was mostly the two reading the script together.

When He Wenyun finally appeared, two hours had already passed.

A lot of people were already feeling a bit bored, but Zhou Yun noticed He Wenyun wasn’t in the least bit bored or weary. She remained focused on her and Yuk Chu.

It was because He Wenyun was continually responding to them with her expressions while they recited lines.

Very attentive and dedicated.

Zhou Yun immediately had this assessment in her mind.

As soon as He Wenyun started speaking her lines, something clearly changed in the air.

Zhou Yun could clearly feel that everyone’s attention was significantly drawn back the moment she began speaking.

He Wenyun didn’t exert herself to the fullest. She simply entered a self-centered, acerbic state, and her tone, casually yet scornfully, instantly changed the atmosphere.

Zhou Yun’s scalp felt a bit tight in an instant.

This is a very talented opponent; her command over emotions was impressively adept, coming and going on a whim.

Sitting across from He Wenyun, Zhou Yun could easily tell; He Wenyun had completely immersed into the character, only deliberately displaying it with a casual demeanor, as if merely passing through an ordinary scene.

...

After the reading ended that morning, Zhou Yun and Yuk Chu had lunch together and inevitably discussed the morning’s reading.

”That He Wenyun is very strong.”

Yuk Chu looked a bit anxious, ”I felt my emotions were completely led by her when exchanging lines, knowing it was acting, yet the things she said really sparked a surge of anger inside.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

”She is indeed very strong.”
