Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 932: Chapter 574: Strange Rules (5)

They each got into the car and headed back to the hotel.

Before going to sleep, someone suddenly sent a message in the actors’ group chat, saying that people from Yuehai would come to the set for an inspection tomorrow.

Zhou Yun saw the word ’inspection’ and was a bit confused.

Isn’t this a word that usually only appears in news?

Wen Yuling, who plays Zhou Yun’s superior in the drama, asked in the group: What are they inspecting?

The male lead, Xin Zhike, who hadn’t joined the team yet, chimed in: Our company’s self-produced dramas have company representatives who routinely inspect them, checking shooting progress, fund usage, the footage shot, and so on.

Zhou Yun: ???

Her three question marks popped up in the group, and Yuk Chu quickly chimed in: Is your Yuehai like a primary school teacher checking students’ homework?

Xin Zhike sent a laughing emoji.

Yuk Chu privately messaged Zhou Yun: Have you ever encountered this kind of thing when shooting before?

Zhou Yun: Maybe there was, but I don’t know, never experienced it.

Early the next day, Zhou Yun set out to do her makeup first, then headed to the set.

As soon as she got out of the car, Zhou Yun saw Xu Jinbo.

After not seeing him for several days, Xu Jinbo was standing next to Cui Xidong, the two were discussing something.

Zhou Yun smiled and greeted them.

”Good morning.”

”Good morning.” Xu Jinbo smiled at her.

Zhou Yun noticed that Xu Jinbo’s face seemed a bit serious, uncertain why.

”Producer Xu, you look a bit serious today, why are you so serious as soon as you’re back?” Zhou Yun asked.

Xu Jinbo shook his head and said, ”Today we have an inspection.”

As if preparing for battle.

Seeing him bring it up, Zhou Yun asked, ”What’s going on with this inspection that your Yuehai is doing? When I shot ’Eighth Heartbeat’ before, I didn’t encounter this kind of thing.”

Xu Jinbo’s lips turned up in a bitter smile, saying, ”That’s because the producer of ’Eighth Heartbeat’ was the one responsible for the inspection.”

Zhou Yun was stunned.

Xu Jinbo said, ”Yuehai arranges for someone to conduct occasional inspections for all its dramas to ensure that the filming is proceeding normally.”

”Uh, if that’s all it is, it shouldn’t make you this nervous, right?”

”Sigh, mainly because of the previous incident with background actors demanding pay,” Xu Jinbo said. ”They might deliberately find faults. You should know, because you’re here playing a role in this drama, Huang Zhong, who always wanted to cast you again, has been unhappy with me.”

”Huh?” Zhou Yun frowned in surprise.

Xu Jinbo said, ”He’s definitely going to nitpick.”

”What’s the outcome if they nitpick?” Zhou Yun asked.

Xu Jinbo said, ”If the company thinks the crew’s situation has reached a certain point, they’ll assign someone specially to oversee it.”

”Oversee?” Zhou Yun showed an incredulous expression, ”Why does your Yuehai have so many weird terms?”

Xu Jinbo could only smile bitterly.

”So, it’s saying that if Yuehai assesses the shooting situation to require someone specially to oversee, there will be a company representative on site pointing things out?” Zhou Yun asked.

”That’s pretty much it.”

”Then what’s the point of having him here?” Zhou Yun asked.

”To track shooting progress, verify whether every expenditure is normal, check if the number of shooting scenes per day has diminished, all sorts of things,” Xu Jinbo said.

”And if he thinks there are issues with these things, what happens then?”

”If he thinks the shooting progress is slow, he’ll tell Director Cui to speed up, shoot more scenes each day. If he thinks some expenditures aren’t necessary, that cost won’t be allowed,” Xu Jinbo said.

Zhou Yun was shocked, ”Isn’t that your authority as a producer?”

Xu Jinbo shrugged.

After hearing this, Zhou Yun was even more astounded, wanting to say something, but hesitating.

”Won’t this person think I’m being too fussy during filming and demand that I be less troublesome?” Zhou Yun asked.

Xu Jinbo laughed and said, ”Of course nobody would dare say you’re too fussy, but he might find a way to let the scene pass without a retake.”

”Listening to you, I feel like my tongue is tied,” Zhou Yun said. ”If such a meddling person really comes, I fear I might end up fighting them.”

Xu Jinbo: ”Relax, relax, it won’t go that far. Our progress is normal, the budget isn’t over, everything’s within normal range.”

Zhou Yun breathed a sigh of relief, suddenly recalled, and asked, ”Have you resolved your own issues?”

Xu Jinbo said, ”Almost, my kid ran away from home before, but we’ve found him.”

”Ran away from home?” Zhou Yun’s eyes widened, ”Damn, your kid’s got guts?”

Xu Jinbo looked helpless, saying, ”His temper is pretty fierce.”

Zhou Yun patted Xu Jinbo’s shoulder, saying, ”Which is why they say parents must have owed their children in a past life to become parents now.”

Xu Jinbo laughed.

The whole crew’s atmosphere was a bit different from usual because of the inspection from Yuehai.

Zhou Yun sensed even the staff’s attitude had changed, becoming more proactive and diligent, just like when you suddenly hear that a leader is coming to inspect at school, everyone putting forth their best.

Around ten o’clock, Huang Zhong and his team arrived.

This was an old acquaintance of Zhou Yun’s, known from shooting ’Eighth Heartbeat.’

But after that drama, Zhou Yun and Huang Zhong had rarely contacted each other.

When Huang Zhong and his team arrived at the set, everyone even stopped working.

Zhou Yun was sitting aside, looking at her phone, and didn’t notice his arrival immediately.

”President Huang.” Xu Jinbo welcomed him enthusiastically, ”Why didn’t you tell me in advance that you’d be here today so I could greet you at the door.”

Huang Zhong chuckled and said, ”What’s there to greet? It’s all unnecessary formalities.”

He turned to look around, asking, ”Where’s Zhou Yun? Isn’t she filming this morning?”

Zhou Yun finally heard and looked up to see Huang Zhong.

”President Huang.” Zhou Yun still put on a courteous front, standing up with a smile and walking over, ”Long time no see, you’re looking more handsome.”
