Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 930: Chapter 574: Strange Rules (Part 3)

At four in the afternoon, He Wenyun returned from Group B, met with Zhou Yun’s side to shoot a scene. She went to communicate with Cui Xidong, and somehow, suddenly got angry.

”Are you really a director?” He Wenyun shouted at Cui Xidong very loudly.

The entire set was taken aback.

Everyone was stunned.

Including Zhou Yun.

Even though Zhou Yun had internally complained about this very sentence countless times, she had never actually said it out loud.

Zhou Yun found it really hard to truly fall out with people.

She thought, at most, she just wouldn’t work with Cui Xidong again in the future.

What was going on?

Yuk Chu came over and whispered to Zhou Yun, ”What happened to He Wenyun?”

”I don’t know, it was very sudden.”

He Wenyun stormed off in another direction.

”Where is she going? Aren’t we about to shoot the next scene?” Yuk Chu asked in surprise.

Zhou Yun could only shake her head.

Nowadays, she understood the principle of minding her own business, so she just observed quietly when she saw such things.

”However, you see, I really admire Director Cui’s temperament.” Yuk Chu suddenly whispered, ”Look at how He Wenyun just yelled at him. Normally, people would feel angry or embarrassed, right? But look at him, he’s still explaining work to others as if nothing happened. I really doubt if this person ever gets angry or fired up.”

Zhou Yun: ”... Now I finally understand why Yuehai said he’s a good director.”

”Why?”

”Think about it, he’s responsible at work, doesn’t dawdle when shooting, and doesn’t have any sudden ideas to exceed the budget, sticking strictly to the script. Which platform wouldn’t like such a director?” Zhou Yun said, ”For a show like ’Deep Sea’, as long as he can shoot strictly according to the script, without being perfunctory, it’s sure to be above the passing line and won’t have major problems.”

Yuk Chu: ”But actually, I think his ability as a director isn’t that strong. He isn’t someone with firm opinions of his own.”

”Hmm.” Zhou Yun said, ”Before making any decision, he basically always gets confirmation from Yuehai, but from Yuehai’s perspective, they should really like such a director.”

”Certainly, they like it.” Yuk Chu nodded.

Zhou Yun continued, ”I previously had a project ’Under the Grand Dress’ where I worked with Ning Yufeng; he is truly a talented person. If you have a chance in the future, you must work with him. He has a lot of ideas, and working with him, you can spark a lot of creativity.”

Yuk Chu laughed.

”I get it, are you feeling no passion while working on this project now?”

”Mm.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”To be honest, I feel very insecure because no matter how I act, he always says I did well. It kind of feels like being brushed off.”

”Sigh.”

”Of course, some actors who strongly want to express themselves might like Cui Xidong’s style. Some actors just don’t want the director to be directing them while they’re performing.” Zhou Yun said, ”But I’m not like that. I need someone to continuously give me tangible feedback, like if I acted a part too much or if my emotions were not full enough. It’s not that I will accept everything entirely, but these opinions help me review my performance and reflect on whether I did overdo it or if I was not full enough. This helps me adjust, and during this adjustment process, I gradually gain confidence in myself.”

Yuk Chu nodded.

”Actually, I’m vaguely realizing that acting is all about the details, and those details are the hardest to grasp.” Yuk Chu said, ”For example, yesterday when we were filming the dinner scene together, I was struggling. Should I show this admiration I feel for you? If I show it, it doesn’t fit with my character who’s supposed to hide all emotions inside. If I don’t show it, it’s not realistic because humans are emotional creatures and will always have moments where they let their true feelings slip. The question is, where is that place? Where do you reveal it? In what form do you reveal it? Is it by slightly increasing the speed of speaking? Or making the expression more animated than usual? I had a lot of choices, and I could try them all, but I couldn’t be sure, so I needed someone with a better understanding of the overall scene to help me make this judgment. So I went to talk to him, and guess what he said to me?”
