Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 901: Chapter 563: A New Blueprint for the Career (Part 6)

Xin Zhike is currently filming ”Half City Rain” with Xu Siyao and will not join the group to shoot ”Deep Sea” until the end of October.

However, this doesn’t matter, since the main parts of ”Deep Sea” revolve around Zhou Yun and Yuk Chu.

Since Yuk Chu signed with Chengqian Entertainment, under Zhou Lan’s arrangement, her workload suddenly increased.

Appearing on shows, shooting for magazines, joining live streams, attending various commercial banquets, walking the red carpet, and so on.

Yuk Chu’s exposure skyrocketed, entering the sights of many people.

Yuk Chu is no longer a newcomer; the previous issue of her parents’ gambling debts drew national attention, making her not just a blank slate. Besides, the few films she acted in have more or less helped her attract plenty of fans.

So, now that Yuk Chu’s development momentum is underway, her fans are also very pleased.

Zhou Yun’s fans, knowing her good relationship with Zhou Yun and their upcoming collaboration, gladly speak on Yuk Chu’s behalf. When Zhou Yun has no public activity, seeing Yuk Chu’s public events, they help advocate a bit—though they always mention Zhou Yun’s name too.

But Zhou Lan did not market any topics for Yuk Chu, as she doesn’t wish to label Yuk Chu.

According to her design, Yuk Chu shouldn’t follow the starlet route; she should focus on acting and pursue the path of a serious actress.

The incident at Yuk Chu’s house will always follow her, so she cannot go down the idol path. Instead, she should immerse herself and be in more dramas.

Luckily, Yuk Chu doesn’t need anyone to urge her. She is very diligent herself. Whether it’s taking acting classes to hone her skills, or other work, she diligently completes them. Her current attitude towards work is very serious. Everyone she collaborates with praises her for being easy to work with. This impression is very important for an artist who isn’t a big star. Now the entire entertainment industry is a bit tense, with gusts of rumors blowing. People are unwilling to collaborate with those difficult to work with—unless you are a big celebrity, which is a different story.

The director of ”Deep Sea” is set as Cui Xidong, a seasoned director who has collaborated many times with Yuehai.

Cui Xidong was confirmed after producer Xu Jinbo and Zhou Yun discussed it.

When Xu Jinbo was introducing Cui Xidong to Zhou Yun, he said, not mentioning anything else, but Cui Xidong is a very stable and earnest director.

Before that, Xu Jinbo also approached several widely known directors within the industry, but on one hand, their schedules were already tight, and on the other hand, Yuehai wanted to reap greater benefits from this project, so they eventually chose Cui Xidong.

Cui Xidong’s stability and earnestness, from another perspective, mean he is obedient and easy to control.

Yuehai indeed wanted to collaborate with Zhou Yun, but they also didn’t want ”Deep Sea” to become Zhou Yun’s solo performance.

In the drama ”Deep Sea,” apart from Zhou Yun and Yuk Chu, Yuehai squeezed in nearly ten actors they signed, and Chengqian Entertainment was not modest, squeezing in five, including Lu Zhongting and Huang Zicheng.

Seeing this cast lineup, Zhou Yun remarked: ”I feel like I’m not starring in a drama, but rather performing at a joint year-end party of two companies.”

Zhou Lan was also at a loss whether to laugh or cry.

However, there is no other option.

Not every drama can chase artistic vision; often, while ensuring basic standards, human relationships, mutual interests, and other factors need consideration.

Zhou Yun and Yuk Chu arranged to meet Xu Jinbo and Cui Xidong.

In front of Zhou Yun, Xu Jinbo always held her in high regard, seeking her opinion no matter what the issue.

Zhou Yun was somewhat annoyed by Xu Jinbo’s stance, as if she was a control freak wanting to manage everything.

But she couldn’t criticize him. If someone respects her opinion so much, she couldn’t possibly have a problem with it?

That would be rather ungrateful.

Yet Xu Jinbo indeed has a good trait; he never meddles with the script.

Zhou Yun genuinely feared encountering a clueless producer who either adds scenes for certain actors with clout or, due to ”market considerations,” demands modifications of certain narratives.

The intended outcome of a drama should be decided before the script is finished. Don’t wait till the script is done to propose changes; that would transform it into a mess.

At this meeting, Zhou Yun then truly understood why Xu Jinbo previously recommended Cui Xidong as director so fervently.
