Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 921: Chapter 571: On Production Crews and Actors (6)

”I know, trust me, the ones I’ve encountered are definitely more devious than the ones you’ve met,” Yuk Chu said with a smile.

Zhou Yun asked, ”You haven’t been taken advantage of?”

Yuk Chu shook her head, ”I’m okay, not exactly a newcomer anymore. The ones who suffer most are those just starting out, knowing nothing, being led around in circles, some even stay with a production crew for four months and end up being dealt with for just five thousand bucks.”

”What?” Zhou Yun exclaimed in shock, ”Such things still happen now?”

”Yes.” Yuk Chu shrugged, ”The contracts people sign are full of traps, violating some clause means deductions, a cut here, a cut there, ultimately only left with five thousand.”

Zhou Yun frowned.

”That’s really harsh.”

”I hope that young person learns from this, sigh.” Yuk Chu said, ”Someone like Liu Linglu, a girl who clearly hasn’t gone through much, if she falls into the hands of such people, it’ll probably take her two or three years to come out of the shadows.”

At this moment, Xu Jinbo came over having settled the bill.

He sat down next to Yuk Chu.

Yuk Chu asked curiously, ”Producer Xu, do you have kids?”

Xu Jinbo was taken aback, then laughed, ”Yes, why?”

Yuk Chu said, ”Just curious since it’s so late and you’re not home yet.”

”He’s boarding, comes home once a month,” Xu Jinbo explained, ”This job of mine, can’t accompany him every day.”

”Oh, I see.” Yuk Chu smiled and asked, ”With such a handsome dad like you, your kid should be good-looking, right? Is it a boy or a girl? How old?”

”Twelve, in seventh grade.” Xu Jinbo talked about his son, looking helpless, ”Doesn’t study properly at all.”

He said this, then turned to smile at Zhou Yun, ”Hope you get a chance to guide him someday.”

A university graduate, respected by parents everywhere.

Zhou Yun laughed and said, ”No way, kids at this age hate being guided.”

”Thinking back, when I was in seventh grade, I did hate people telling me what to do,” Yuk Chu laughed in agreement.

Xu Jinbo shook his head, ”In today’s society, if you don’t study properly, what will you do in the future? Nowadays, everywhere you go, people look at your qualifications.”

”Would you consider letting him try entering the entertainment circle?” Zhou Yun asked.

With someone like Xu Jinbo as a producer father, if his son really wants to be an actor, the path should be easier.

Xu Jinbo said, ”We’ll discuss that later, too early to talk about it now. If possible, I hope he goes to school properly and finds a stable job. This line of work, when you earn, you earn a lot, but money doesn’t stay, people become restless, and when the market is bad, the stress is so much you lose hair, watching your balance decrease bit by bit without work. That kind of feeling, you can only understand how hard it is after experiencing it.”

The topic suddenly became heavy.

Yuk Chu perhaps recalled her toughest times and became a bit lost in thought.

Luckily, the owner brought over the food Xu Jinbo ordered.

One basket of steamed dumplings, two cups of black chicken soup, a serving of mung bean porridge, two small plates of vegetables.

Zhou Yun was surprised and said, ”So much.”

Xu Jinbo: ”I haven’t eaten fully either, perfect to eat together.”

”How did you two meet?” Xu Jinbo asked curiously.

Zhou Yun: ”We met while running around different production crews.”

Yuk Chu said, ”Back then both of us were newcomers, not famous, so we just hung out together.”

Xu Jinbo: ”I previously thought you two were college classmates.”

”If I could get into University A, I wouldn’t be an actor,” Yuk Chu said, ”What I most regret now is not studying hard back then.”

”You’re doing quite well now though,” Xu Jinbo said.

Yuk Chu shook her head.

”It’s not necessarily about going to a good university, just that studying well is really important for a person. I realized how little knowledge I had only when analyzing and researching scripts, sometimes I don’t even understand the writer’s intent in many places, sometimes I can’t comprehend why a character says a certain line. These should all be basics.”

”Being too analytical isn’t necessarily a good thing, personally, I think an actor should understand a bit less. What’s crucial is their sensitivity,” Xu Jinbo said.

”Maybe it’s because I’m quite lacking in knowledge, so I care about these things,” Yuk Chu said.

”Is that so?”

Zhou Yun shook his head.
