Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 592: Chapter 446: Just Suddenly_2

Zhou Yun’s performances were becoming increasingly fluent, and she would communicate her thoughts with Kang Xin before every scene.

After each scene, Zhou Yun was no longer like before, never watching her own performance; instead, she would squat behind the monitor with the director, watching clips of her just completed performance.

Mature, capable actors, after performing, simply leave, never watching.

They have the confidence and capability to do so.

Zhou Yun wanted to advance further, relying merely on her talent and aura was not enough.

”You see, here, you were too smooth. Subconsciously, you knew that He Mu would push the door open next second, so you were already preparing your body posture, hurrying to hide things in the box. But in reality, you should react only after hearing it. If you can’t control your muscle reactions yet, let me teach you a way. When you look at the items in the box, start being careful from the beginning. He Mu must not discover this item, so the moment you take it out, you become a bit nervous, maintaining the state throughout, and it won’t appear too smooth when you hide things.”

Kang Xin fine-tuned Zhou Yun’s acting, focusing on very detailed aspects.

These details were exactly what Su Yan previously detested listening to.

Su Yan wasn’t unaware that these details could help improve her performance and take it to another level.

But Su Yan’s thinking was simple; it’s just a TV show, not a movie. The length isn’t comparable, nor is the screen size. Who would be so critical?

If she had to correct every scene with such a nitpicking attitude, she wouldn’t need to act at all; flaws would be everywhere.

The most crucial point is, in Su Yan’s view, such laborious and thankless efforts are meaningless; no one really cares.

Now, how many viewers would watch a show back and forth many times?

But Zhou Yun really treasured Kang Xin’s directing.

These details were the logic behind acting. If emotional engagement represents the sensuous charm of acting, character analysis represents the rational charm. Zhou Yun, a science student, liked this certainty. The more meticulous it is, the more complicated and magical it becomes.

After listening to Kang Xin finishing directing, Zhou Yun felt a sudden enlightenment.

She also realized her own problems.

In the play, it’s not until Song Chi pushes the door that she would appear to suddenly panic upon discovery.

Off the play, she had already read the script and couldn’t possibly be ”suddenly panicked” one hundred percent.

This conflict between known and unknown is a challenge and dilemma every actor has to deal with. Some use state-driven acting, some use emotional acting, others rely on experiential acting; the methods differ.

But all these are founded upon a masterful skill level, only then can the acting naturally fall into place like water flowing into a channel.

Zhou Yun couldn’t achieve that.

Kang Xin then offered her advice; if she couldn’t naturally perform sudden panic, she should follow the character’s motives, amplify the initial tension, and transition into the later panic.

It was a bit of trickery, but also a skill of acting.

Zhou Yun found it very interesting.

...

When a week had passed and the crew hadn’t urged Su Yan to return to filming, Su Yan was thoroughly panicked.

Even He Ting couldn’t sit still anymore.

He Ting called Wen Binglan, asking about the current situation of the crew.

Wen Binglan truthfully reported, ”These days, Director Kang has been shooting the scenes with Zhou Yun and Song Chi.”

He Ting’s tone suddenly heightened, asking, ”What about our Yanyan?”

What she actually meant to ask was, had the crew forgotten about Su Yan?

Su Yan, a lead actress, away five days from the crew, shouldn’t they have come begging, repeatedly urging her return by now?

Wen Binglan said, ”Sister Ting, didn’t Su Yan say she had a concussion and needed more rest? It’s an objective situation, there’s nothing we can do. If Su Yan’s situation is really serious, Director Kang said, maybe we’ll cut some of her scenes, we definitely won’t force Su Yan to return to the crew without proper rest, don’t worry.”

He Ting’s eyes widened.

This statement didn’t need to be made any clearer.

”Xiao Wen, is this Director Kang’s intention?”

”That’s also what upper management thinks, this timing doesn’t allow anyone to drag behind.”

He Ting hung up the phone, thought for three seconds, and immediately went to help Su Yan complete her discharge procedures, bringing her back to the crew.

Arriving at the set, Su Yan refused to get out of the car.

She said, ”If I get out of the car now and apologize, I’d lose all my face. Initially, Sister Ting, it was you who told me that Director Kang and the others would beg me to come back! But now it has turned into me sneaking back defeated.”

He Ting also felt helpless, saying, ”Yanyan, I really didn’t foresee them being so ruthless. Your lead role, they even dared to cut scenes.”

Su Yan: ”Isn’t it all because, Sister Ting, you insisted on using this incident to get the crew to give me more scenes.”

”Alright, no more discussions, I didn’t think it through completely. But now is not the time for you to throw a tantrum. Think clearly, if you don’t lower your head to the director and eventually they cut your scenes, Zhou Yun might surpass you and become the female lead.”

He Ting’s threat was effective. Once Su Yan heard Zhou Yun’s name, she wasn’t afraid of losing face anymore, got out of the car, and headed straight for Kang Xin.

She walked over to Kang Xin beamingly, calling out, ”Director, I’m back! Sorry for making you wait these past few days.”

Kang Xin was speaking with the cinematographer, and on seeing Su Yan, he smiled, ”You’re back? Weren’t you seriously unwell? Coming back to the crew now, are you sure you can handle it?”

Su Yan: ”I can handle it, director. I didn’t want to delay everyone’s schedule, so as soon as the doctor said I could be discharged, I hurried back.”

Kang Xin nodded, ”If that’s the case, then you’ll have to continue enduring the hardship.”

Su Yan said, ”Director, what hardship? I’m not suffering; you are the one who suffers the most.”
