Song Chi never really considers himself as capable as the rumors make him out to be. If he were, why would Su Yan insist on staying in the hospital under the pretense of treatment instead of returning to the set?

They’re not strangers to the hospital; they know very well that Su Yan just has a superficial injury, something that could be dealt with easily.

There’s no such thing as a concussion.

Yet, Su Yan’s fans are making a huge fuss, as if Song Chi has long become a behind-the-scenes big shot. They believe he has colluded with the producers to bully Su Yan, a so-called innocent little white flower, not even ensuring her safety, and arrogantly pressing her to return early to the set after her hospitalization.

Who knows who fabricated these rumors, and yet so many people believe them.

Up to this point, the crew has genuinely not rushed Su Yan to come back even once.

Both Kang Xin and Song Chi silently agree that given the current situation, it’s better to leave Su Yan be for the time being, which is beneficial for the upcoming filming.

Moreover, with Zhou Yun here, the production won’t come to a halt.

They’ve rearranged Zhou Yun’s scenes to the front, shooting from morning till night.

Zhou Yun says to Zhou Lan, ”I think I might finish shooting my scenes ahead of schedule.”

Zhou Lan replies, ”That’s a good thing. How wonderful it would be to save so much time. Maybe you can wrap up by the end of the year and catch the wave of award ceremonies and galas. Weibo already contacted me to lock in your schedule, making sure you attend this year’s grand ceremonies and they’ve also arranged an award for you.”

”What award could it possibly be? It’s either some popularity award or a newcomer award.” Zhou Yun hasn’t been in the entertainment circle for long, but has followed it for many years, ”The more significant awards are always given to big names.”

”But it’s still an award from Weibo! Think about the exposure, and besides, getting on good terms with them isn’t just about winning an award,” Zhou Lan explains, ”There’s also another thing, He Yong has brought over several screenplays, all from Chengqian Film and Television, hoping for you to star in them. I’ve accepted them and will send them over for you to take a look and choose which one you’d like.”

”Sister Lan, have you looked at them? How are they?” Zhou Yun asks.

Zhou Lan answers, ”They’re all not bad, big productions. There’s nothing exceptionally great, but they aren’t the low-quality stuff from before. Personally, I’m quite fond of one called ’Luoyan.’ It’s a fantasy genre script, but not about that clichéd love-hate relationship between master and disciple that spans lifetimes. The story has a literary touch. The female lead is a perfume maker, who rescues a dying man one day, brings him home to treat his wounds, only for him to attempt to kill her as soon as he recovers. I’ve read the first ten episodes of the screenplay, it’s full of twists, and the storytelling is captivating. The person you think is the male lead turns out not to be, and an apparent stranger becomes a key character later on.”

”That does sound interesting,” Zhou Yun comments.

”Yes, it’s also an original script, written by a novelist,” Zhou Lan says.

”Then I’ll take a good look at it.”

Zhou Lan mentions, ”There are also quite a few shows that have been reaching out to you, I haven’t made a decision yet. I’ll discuss it with you once I’m back on set.”

”When are you coming to the set?” Zhou Yun inquires.

”This Thursday,” Zhou Lan says.

”Okay.”

”Oh, one more thing,” Zhou Lan suddenly recalls something, ”These past few days, He Yong has been subtly probing me about some matters, hinting as if he’s worried you might leave the company and asking if you’ve been in contact with anyone else.”

”He finally noticed,” Zhou Yun remarks, ”A few days ago, Luo Zhiqiu from Zuo Jing approached me, offering to pay the penalty for my contract termination, wanting to poach me to join Zuo Jing.”

”Luo Zhiqiu? Did you agree?”

”How could I agree? But I think it’s not bad to remind He Yong with this incident. I’ve been under contract with the company for so long, and he’s too complacent, lacking a sense of crisis, always arranging some terribly low-end jobs for me. Luo Zhiqiu’s approach is just the right wake-up call for him.”

Zhou Lan is momentarily at a loss for words.

Sometimes, she feels that Zhou Yun, this twenty-three-year-old, thinks more than she does.

...

Staying on set filming is really tedious.

Unless actors truly love acting and enjoy the process of performing, they find it torturous.

These days, Zhou Yun’s scenes have all been scheduled to the brim, from morning till evening, all with her scenes.

The key reason for such scheduling is that only three settings can be shot here, and since Su Yan went to the hospital and her scenes can’t be filmed, they can only focus on shooting Zhou Yun’s scenes first.
