Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 557: Chapter 326: Her Past

Zhou Yun, of course, was not a person without a past.

Her experiences were also clearly written online, where she went to elementary school, middle school, and university.

When someone who claimed to be her high school classmate spread rumors about her, there were other classmates who stood up and spoke for her, showing she was quite well-liked. Zhou Yun’s fans also emphasized this point, saying if Zhou Yun wasn’t a good person, how could so many classmates speak for her?

But Lin Xiaomiao, after carefully studying their statements, noticed a problem. None of those who spoke up for Zhou Yun claimed to be her friends, nor did they speak as if they were close to her. Many of them mentioned the same thing: Zhou Yun did not participate much in class activities during high school and didn’t play with other students much.

In their words, Zhou Yun was neither a loner nor an arrogant person. Logically speaking, a person like that shouldn’t be without any close friends. Yet, from the information currently available, that was the case.

Lin Xiaomiao keenly felt there must be some story behind this.

She went to investigate and interview some of Zhou Yun’s high school classmates, but their statements weren’t much valuable, only mentioning that Zhou Yun was like a goddess during that time and everyone was a bit intimidated by her, given her good looks and top grades, which often made others feel inferior and hesitant to approach.

”Did Zhou Yun ever take the initiative to make friends with you?” she had asked them.

”It’s not that she didn’t,” they said. ”She is really nice. If we ever needed help with something, she would never refuse; if we greeted her on the road, she would respond warmly, but...” time had passed too long, and they needed to recall before they could remember specific incidents, ”to say why we didn’t become close friends, I don’t know, maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.”

That was all Lin Xiaomiao could glean from them, information of no substantial significance.

Lin Xiaomiao went on to inquire about Zhou Yun’s college and middle school years, but the information collected wasn’t very helpful either.

Everyone’s understanding of Zhou Yun was essentially consistent with what her high school classmates had said: nice person, but not very close.

Lin Xiaomiao’s investigation almost hit a dead end.

Until someone mentioned something: ”Zhou Yun usually kept to herself, and I never saw her family visit her. Oh, not right, once her grandmother came to visit, I met her on the street, it seemed to be her senior year, her grandmother was hospitalized for some illness, and Zhou Yun spent a lot of time running to the hospital, missing quite a few classes.”

—Never saw her family come to visit her.

Suddenly, Lin Xiaomiao thought, having followed Zhou Yun for so long, she had never seen any family members or relatives meet with Zhou Yun.

Reflecting on Zhou Yun’s behavior at school, Lin Xiaomiao could almost conclude that something must have happened in Zhou Yun’s family.

Lin Xiaomiao wanted to confirm this point, thus trying to find an opening.

...

Zhou Yun met with Wen Bing.

Wen Bing was dressed in a crisp suit.

”Wow, you look beautiful today!” Wen Bing complimented her as soon as they met.

Zhou Yun smiled radiantly.

”How is the preparation for ’Two Tigers’ going?” she asked.

Wen Bing nodded, saying, ”Not bad. And you? I heard you encountered some problems filming ’Falling Leaves’?”

”It’s not really a problem, just ended up shooting an extra film.” Zhou Yun shrugged nonchalantly and spread her hands, ”A bold decision, I don’t know whether it was the right or the wrong one.”

”No worries, you’re so young, why care so much about right or wrong, you only know after you try,” Wen Bing said, ”I’ve always thought that when you’re young, you should be daring to make mistakes.”

”Haha, you’re the only one who encourages me like this.”

Wen Bing: ”Tonight, if you can win the best actress award, it will further encourage you.”

Zhou Yun took a deep breath, ”I hope to get such encouragement.”

Wen Bing continued, ”Recently when I was preparing ’Two Tigers,’ I got a new inspiration.”

”Oh?”

”You are supposed to play a Female Assassin in ’Two Tigers,’ right? A disguised Female Assassin. I think the story of this Female Assassin, if explored, could be quite interesting,” Wen Bing said.

Zhou Yun asked in surprise, ”Can a female assassin be the protagonist and pass the censors? This is a contemporary setting unless it’s moved abroad.”

”That’s exactly my thought, I came up with it while on a high-speed train,” Wen Bing said, ”Imagine, a Chinese female assassin on vacation in Europe, riding on one of those old European trains, but accidentally meets another assassin who is to kill someone in the car. Misinterpreting that the other assassin was targeting her, she decides to strike first, kills the person and in doing so, stirs up a hornet’s nest, gets chased by the assassin organization, forced to flee, and a series of fighting tales ensue. I’m thinking of making it an action-comedy.”

”That sounds interesting, but the investment for such a movie must be considerable,” Zhou Yun said, ”Sounds like it would cost a lot.”

”It would be expensive, yes, but the box office should not be low,” Wen Bing said, ”I’ve always loved watching action movies and have always wanted to make one.”

Zhou Yun nodded, saying, ”Then you should start writing the script.”

”Will you act in it?”

”If you want me to act, of course I will.” Zhou Yun said, ”But my schedule is very tight, you’d need to book the time in advance.”

”Hahaha, that’s great,” Wen Bing said, ”If we really shoot this movie, it wouldn’t be until one or two years later.”

”How is it that your mind is always full of ideas? And the range, too broad, from ’Life,’ a romantic art film, to the second, ’Two Tigers,’ which is a cop movie, to the third one becoming an action-comedy,” Zhou Yun couldn’t help but admire Wen Bing’s creative ability.

Wen Bing: ”Can’t help it, all sorts of stories always pop up in my mind.”

”It’s just talent.”

Talking like this, it’s time to get on the vehicle and head to the Qingmu Award red carpet.

”Let’s go.”

Wen Bing asked, ”What about Song Chi? Aren’t we waiting for Song Chi?”

”He’s not joining us. He has his company,” Zhou Yun said.

Getting in the car, Zhou Yun took a deep breath.

Her heart rate increased, due to nervousness, but also excitement.

No matter what others say, Zhou Yun knew very well in her heart that she had a good chance of winning the award, and it was not a small possibility.

Because of this, Zhou Yun couldn’t help but feel excited and was looking forward to the results tonight.
