Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 571: Chapter 434: Post-New Year Meeting

Anti-theft: Before 12:00.

-

Su Yan sat to the right of Lew Qingqing and Zhou Yun, leaning in with a curious face, asking, ”Did you two know each other before?”

Lew Qingqing immediately answered, ”We met for the first time today. Did you know Xiao Yun before?”

”Of course, I’m also meeting her for the first time.” Su Yan said, ”But I got quite a shock when I saw the trending searches this morning.”

Zhou Yun replied innocently, ”That’s just paparazzi making stuff up.”

”I remember you’re currently filming with Song Chi, aren’t you?” Lew Qingqing countered Su Yan, ”You should know better, whether Zhou Yun is Song Chi’s girlfriend or not.”

Hearing this, Su Yan’s eyes flickered, and she laughed twice, saying, ”Although I’m in the same series, how would I be privy to such matters?”

On the surface, this response seemed without fault, but in reality, it was still beating around the bush. Lew Qingqing’s earlier remark intended to have Su Yan act as a witness to clear the rumors. However, Su Yan merely skirted the issue, implying that even if Song Chi and Zhou Yun were dating, she wouldn’t know about it.

Zhou Yun had no choice but to emphasize again: ”I don’t know Teacher Song Chi at all.”

Lew Qingqing patted Zhou Yun’s hand, saying, ”Don’t worry now, the fans are all very smart these days. They won’t be led by the nose by paparazzi, so don’t be concerned.”

Zhou Yun showed Lew Qingqing a grateful smile.

Beside her, Su Yan took out her sunglasses from her bag and put them on herself.

Chen Quanying, who was chatting with someone else, directly asked, ”Su Yan, why are you wearing sunglasses after sunset? Trying to look cool?”

With that one sentence, Su Yan nearly slipped up.

Zhou Yun keenly observed Su Yan’s mouth twitch.

She had heard that Chen Quanying had a straightforward personality, with many rumors in the circle about her taking jabs at others, and seeing this today was truly... unique. At least, this was the first time Zhou Yun had seen someone expose someone else so directly since her debut.

Unless you count Lew Qingqing and Su Yan, who inherently had conflicts.

Su Yan took off her sunglasses, pouting her lips, and said with a tone of grievance, ”Oh Sister Ying, I’m just tired and wanted to catch some sleep in the car.”

Even Su Yan didn’t dare to confront Chen Quanying directly.

Lew Qingqing would not let go of this opportunity against her arch-enemy, adding insult to injury, ”Then I’ll switch seats with you, I actually wanted to chat with Sister Ying anyway. I’ve really liked listening to Sister Ying’s songs since school, and I even went to her concert with friends.”

Su Yan’s glare shot over instantly.

Chen Quanying excitedly turned to Lew Qingqing, ”You’ve been to my concert?”

”Yes, five years ago, at Beijing Workers’ Stadium.” Lew Qingqing said, ”Do you remember?”

”Of course I remember my concerts.” Chen Quanying turned to Su Yan and said, ”Aren’t you going to take a nap? Since Lew Qingqing wants to switch with you, just swap now.”

Su Yan looked a bit awkward, as if she was hung out to dry.

She felt like she was being shooed away.

Su Yan couldn’t swallow her pride, but she had no choice and had to grin and bear it, switching seats with Lew Qingqing.

There were cameras filming, and Zhou Yun laughed, calling out, ”Sister Yanyan.”

Su Yan with a stiff face nodded, put her sunglasses back on, and it was unclear if she actually fell asleep or not.

Zhou Yun then took out her phone, slightly turned away so Su Yan couldn’t see her screen, and texted Zhou Lan: Did you see what happened this afternoon?

Zhou Lan: What?

Zhou Yun said: Su Yan kicked me.

Zhou Lan: What? During the game? She didn’t do it on purpose, did she?

Zhou Yun: No, she did it on purpose. Because I wasn’t on her side, showing hostility, but instead, I was close to Lew Qingqing.

Zhou Lan: Those two really don’t get along, huh?

Zhou Yun: They had a confrontation while changing clothes.

Zhou Lan: Then don’t be impulsive for now, finish recording the show first, and remember the image you need to present on camera.

Zhou Yun: I know, but remember to get a backup of the video.

Zhou Lan: Leave this matter to me, rest assured.

After making sure everything was clear, Zhou Yun breathed a sigh of relief, and then turned to look at Su Yan.

Suddenly, Su Yan spoke up, her voice detached: ”Is there something?”

Indeed she hadn’t fallen asleep.

Zhou Yun looked bewildered, ”Huh? Sister Yanyan, what’s wrong?”

Su Yan chuckled indifferently, didn’t say anything, and grew silent again.

Zhou Yun helplessly smiled, turned his head toward the window, and the amusement in his eyes finally faded.

By the time they arrived at the place for dinner, everyone took their seats at a large table. The director and cameramen were also ready, with a crowd of people standing in front of the dining table, but only the artists were visible in the camera frame.

Su Yan had a look of being tantalized by hunger, saying, ”I’m so hungry, I feel like I could eat a whole cow right now!”

Lew Qingqing immediately said, ”Me too, I’m really hungry. Director, there aren’t any more tasks, right? Can we just eat dinner?”

Both girls looked at the camera with puppy-dog eyes, a pleading look on their faces.

Pretty girls always seem to have a way of melting people’s hearts with such expressions.

But how could the director be swayed?

”Of course... there’s a task.”

Su Yan and Lew Qingqing both let out a sigh at the same time, but didn’t argue.

The men behind them also started to complain.

”Director, where’s the love? Where’s your love for us?”

”I’m not filming anymore, I announce this is my last episode of recording.”

”That’s too much!”

...

It was all a performance, all for show, all for the camera’s effect.

Zhou Yun wasn’t the protagonist; all she needed was a resigned smile.

Smile prettily, be a beautiful vase.

”Xiao Yun, come sit next to me.” After Lew Qingqing took her seat, she called out actively, ”Come on.”

So Zhou Yun went and sat next to her.

”Lew Qingqing, did you do that on purpose!” Zhang Haichen suddenly glared, ”I already said I wanted to sit with Xiao Yun tonight!”

Zhou Yun was taken aback, at a loss as she looked towards Zhang Haichen.

Lew Qingqing was smiling triumphantly, and said, ”Hmph, stop corrupting our innocent Xiao Yun!”

Zhou Yun’s face was a picture of confusion.

Zhang Haichen sighed, facing the camera with a look of dejection.

Zhou Yun understood; it was for the sake of the variety show effect.

She giggled and hugged Lew Qingqing’s arm.

Su Yan saw this scene, and her expression worsened, her look towards Zhou Yun even harboring a hint of disgust.

Of course, this hint of disgust avoided the camera.

Zhou Yun originally didn’t want to get involved in the struggle between Su Yan and Lew Qingqing, but Su Yan’s kick in the afternoon had irked her.

Regardless of how much of Lew Qingqing’s enthusiasm and affection in front of the camera was an act, at least Lew Qingqing hadn’t done that to her.

Zhou Yun was happy to display sisterly affection with Lew Qingqing, just to annoy Su Yan.

During the subsequent filming, Zhou Yun became even more cordial with Lew Qingqing, linking arms or hugging Lew Qingqing from time to time.

Their intimacy made it seem as if they had grown up together like best friends.
