Su Yan sat to the right of Lew Qingqing and Zhou Yun, leaning in with a curious face, she asked, ”Did you two know each other before?”

Lew Qingqing immediately answered, ”Today is our first meeting, did you and Xiao Yun know each other before?”

”Of course, it’s also my first time meeting her,” said Su Yan, ”Though I was startled when I saw the trending searches this morning.”

Zhou Yun said innocently, ”It’s all nonsense made up by the paparazzi.”

”I remember you’re shooting a drama with Song Chi, aren’t you?” Lew Qingqing countered to Su Yan. ”You should know very well whether Zhou Yun is Song Chi’s girlfriend.”

Upon hearing this, Su Yan’s eyes flickered, and she laughed twice, saying, ”Although I’m filming in the same production, how would they let me know about such things?”

This answer seemed fine at first glance, but actually, it was still evasive. Lew Qingqing’s previous remark was to prompt Su Yan to act as a witness and clear up the rumor. However, Su Yan merely skirted the issue, giving the impression that even if Song Chi and Zhou Yun were dating, she wouldn’t be in the know.

Zhou Yun had no choice but to emphasize again, ”I don’t even know Song Chi.”

Lew Qingqing patted Zhou Yun’s hand and said, ”Don’t worry, nowadays fans are very smart. They won’t be led by the nose by paparazzi. Don’t be anxious.”

Zhou Yun showed a smile of gratitude towards Lew Qingqing.

Meanwhile, Su Yan took out a pair of sunglasses from her bag and put them on.

Seeing this, Chen Quanying, who was chatting with someone else, bluntly asked, ”Su Yan, the sun has set, why are you wearing sunglasses? Trying to be cool?”

That comment almost made Su Yan lose her composure.

Zhou Yun keenly noticed a twitch at the corner of Su Yan’s mouth.

She had long heard that Chen Quanying was straightforward, and there were many rumors about her in the industry. Seeing this today, she was indeed... unique. At least, during her career, Zhou Yun had never seen anyone so direct in exposing others.

Except, perhaps, for the inherent conflict between Lew Qingqing and Su Yan.

Su Yan removed the sunglasses, pouting, and said plaintively, ”Oh, Sister Ying, I’m tired, I just wanted to get some sleep in the car.”

Even Su Yan didn’t dare to directly confront Chen Quanying.

Lew Qingqing did not miss this opportunity to kick someone when they were down, ”Then let’s switch seats. I actually want to chat with Sister Ying. I’ve been a fan of Sister Ying’s songs since school, and even went to her concert with friends.”

Su Yan shot a glare instantly.

Chen Quanying looked at Lew Qingqing with delight, ”You’ve been to my concert?”

”Yeah, five years ago, at the Beijing Workers’ Stadium,” Lew Qingqing said. ”Do you remember?”

”Of course, I remember my concert,” Chen Quanying turned to Su Yan and said, ”Weren’t you going to get some sleep? Since Lew Qing wants to switch with you, hurry up and move.”

Su Yan’s expression turned awkward, as if she was stuck on a hot griddle.

She was being sent away.

Su Yan couldn’t swallow her pride, but there was no other choice, and she could only grit her teeth and switch seats with Lew Qingqing.

With the cameras still filming, Zhou Yun smiled and called out to Sister Yanyan.

Su Yan, with a stern face, nodded, put on her sunglasses again, and no one knew if she actually fell asleep.

Only then did Zhou Yun take out her phone, slightly turning her body away so that Su Yan couldn’t see her screen, and messaged Zhou Lan: Did you see what happened this afternoon?

Zhou Lan: What?

Zhou Yun said: Su Yan kicked me.

Zhou Lan: What? During the game? It wasn’t on purpose, right?

Zhou Yun: No, she did it on purpose because I didn’t stand with her against a common enemy. Instead, I was being close with Lew Qingqing.

Zhou Lan: They really don’t get along, huh?

Zhou Yun: They had a full-blown fight while changing clothes.

Zhou Lan: Then don’t act rashly for now. Finish the variety show first. Don’t forget the image you need to portray on camera.

Zhou Yun: I know, but remember to ask someone to secure a backup of the video footage.

Zhou Lan: Leave this matter to me, don’t worry.

Having clarified everything, Zhou Yun breathed a sigh of relief and then turned to glance at Su Yan.

Suddenly, Su Yan spoke up, her voice cold: ”What is it?”

As expected, she wasn’t asleep.

Zhou Yun looked perplexed, ”Huh? Sister Yanyan, what’s wrong?”

Su Yan chuckled dismissively and then fell silent again.

Zhou Yun helplessly smiled, turned away, and looked out the window, the smile in her eyes finally fading.

When they arrived for dinner, they approached a large table. After everyone settled down, the director and the cameramen were also ready to go, and people stood around the available space in front of the table, but only the artists were visible in the camera’s view.

Su Yan put on an expression of being utterly tantalized and said, ”I’m so hungry, I think I can devour a whole cow right now!”

Lew Qingqing immediately responded, ”Me too, I’m really starving, Director, there aren’t any tasks left, right? Can we just have dinner?”

Both girls looked eagerly at the camera, their faces pleading.

Beautiful girls making such expressions always manage to soften people’s hearts.

But how could the director be soft-hearted?

”Of course... there’s a task.”

Both Su Yan and Lew Qingqing let out a collective sigh but didn’t argue.

Several men behind them also started to complain.

”Director, what about affection? What about love for us?”

”I’m not filming anymore, I declare this’ll be my last recording for the show.”

”It’s too much!”

...

It’s all acting, all for the camera, all for the effect on screen.

Zhou Yun wasn’t the protagonist, she just had to smile helplessly.

Smile prettily, just be a beautiful vase.

”Xiao Yun, sit next to me,” Lew Qingqing called out after taking her seat, ”Come over here.”

Zhou Yun moved over to sit down.

”Lew Qingqing, are you doing this on purpose!” Zhang Haichen suddenly glared, ”I already said I wanted to sit with Xiao Yun tonight!”

Zhou Yun was taken aback and looked at Zhang Haichen, not knowing what to do.

Lew Qingqing smiled triumphantly and said, ”Hmph, stop causing trouble for our innocent Xiao Yun!”

Zhou Yun looked bewildered.

Zhang Haichen heaved a sigh and faced the camera, looking distressed.

Zhou Yun understood, it was another variety show effect.

She hugged Lew Qingqing’s arm with a gleeful smile.

Upon seeing this, Su Yan’s expression soured, even her gaze toward Zhou Yun contained a hint of disgust.

Of course, this disdain avoided the camera.

Zhou Yun originally didn’t want to get involved in the conflict between Su Yan and Lew Qingqing, but the kick Su Yan gave her in the afternoon had infuriated her.

Regardless of how much of Lew Qingqing’s enthusiasm and closeness in front of the camera was an act, at least Lew Qingqing had not done so to her.

Zhou Yun was happy to show deep sisterly love with Lew Qingqing, just to spite Su Yan.

In the subsequent filming, Zhou Yun and Lew Qingqing became even more affectionate, now and then linking arms, or embracing each other.

They acted as intimately as if they were best friends who had grown up together.
