Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 588: Chapter 444: Nowhere to Be Seen (2)

He Ting, sitting steady as though fishing, said, ”What’s the rush? You stay and rest in the hospital, the one who should be anxious is the film crew.”

Su Yan said, ”This will delay the filming progress, right? If I can’t finish on schedule, won’t I end up holding up the crew for a few more days?”

He Ting said, ”That won’t happen, rest assured, as long as we take a tough stance and don’t return to the set, they’ll definitely be the ones who are anxious.”

Su Yan was still somewhat worried and said, ”Won’t this make Kang Xin and Song Chi have a bad opinion of me, Sister Ting? They are no ordinary people, and also...”

”Don’t worry about it,” He Ting said. ”Our reasoning is perfectly justifiable. You were injured and it’s totally normal for you to recuperate a few more days in the hospital. Who could say anything? Later we’ll just invite them for a meal privately, talk things through and it will be fine. What’s more, it was Song Chi who wronged you first. He initially agreed that you were the rightful leading lady, so why later did he add so many scenes for Liu Rusu? The second female lead is almost on par with you now.”

At the mention of Zhou Yun, Su Yan, who was initially hesitant, no longer wavered.

”You have no idea, in the crew, Zhou Yun and Song Chi are thick as thieves. While her acting is just so-so, Kang Xin also praises her, all for Song Chi’s sake, which sparked some people in the crew to chat, saying my acting isn’t as good as Su Yan’s. It’s infuriating!”

He Ting said, ”Why worry? When the drama airs, the good and the bad will be clear for the audience to see. After all, they aren’t blind.”

Su Yan said, ”I’m now feeling so stifled in the crew, and it’s the same with Director Kang. His demands are too high.”

”Suck it up, take this chance to learn. It will benefit your acting. Director Kang is well-known in the industry for his ability to coach actors. If you perform well in this drama, we’ll go for the awards,” He Ting said.

Su Yan said, ”Sister Ting, don’t you know my acting? I can’t compare with the older generation, but among my peers, who can rival me?”

”I certainly know about your acting,” He Ting said, ”but learning is an endless process. Not every director is like Kang Xin.”

”Got it, I’ll study hard with Director Kang, as long as he doesn’t start disliking me because of this incident,” Su Yan said. ”All-knowing Sister Ting, I’ll leave this matter in your hands!”

He Ting snorted lightly, ”Finally sweet-talking me now? If only you could be more flattering on set! How could Zhou Yun kick up a fuss?”

”But I don’t have a boyfriend like Song Chi to lay the groundwork for me in the crew. I can only rely on you, Sister Ting.” Su Yan hugged He Ting. ”I know Sister Ting is the best.”

He Ting laughed and said, ”You’re such a grown-up yet still acting like a child, let go.”

”No, I won’t let go.”

...

Leaving the hospital, He Ting thought it over and searched for a nearby mall. She took a taxi, shopped around the mall, and chose an Hermès silk scarf and a men’s wallet.

In the evening, she arranged to have dinner with Wen Binglan at a restaurant nearby.

Wen Binglan appeared with a headache, thinking He Ting was again there to quibble over who was at fault, but to his surprise, He Ting greeted him with a beaming smile, presenting a small bag, saying, ”Little Wen, I’m really sorry for adding to your worries because of Yanyan’s incident the other day. I happened to see a wallet this afternoon that suited you perfectly, so I just bought it as a peace offering.”

Alarm bells went off in Wen Binglan’s mind.

This was so out of character for He Ting. Softening up like this, what was she planning?

Wen Binglan didn’t accept it but smiled and said, ”Sister Ting, why be so polite with me?”

”Oh come on, don’t be a stranger, take it!” He Ting insisted, pushing the gift into Wen Binglan’s hands.

”Are you really mad at me?”

”No, how could I be? But, Sister Ting, our crew isn’t really to blame for this...,” said Wen Binglan, but He Ting immediately gestured for him to stop.

”Let’s not talk about that today. You must be very tired recently, managing such a big crew, dealing with all sorts of things. It’s hard work.”

Wen Binglan replied, ”It’s part of the job.”

”Today it’s on me, you order whatever you want to eat,” He Ting said. ”Yanyan also wants to thank you for looking after her. She can be a real princess, I’m sure she’s given you plenty of headaches.”

...

In the evening, Zhou Yun, Song Chi, and Director Kang ate dinner together, gathered around a small table.

The evening sun was setting, and everyone was taking a break.

After dinner, they still had to continue working late into the night.

Midway through the meal, Director Kang was called away, leaving only Zhou Yun and Song Chi together.

Having filmed all day, Zhou Yun looked at Song Chi’s overly familiar face and said, ”Tonight’s still a long night shoot, can you endure without rest?”

Song Chi had a cup of black coffee by his side, brought by his assistant.

”If I can’t endure, I have to anyway. I’ll take a short nap after I finish eating, maybe sleep for thirty minutes.”

Zhou Yun suggested, ”Why don’t we move my own scenes forward? Give you time to rest?”

Song Chi said, ”Forget it, don’t fuss, it’s all been scheduled.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Ah, if we could split into two teams to film, the pressure on the progress would be much less.”

”Director Kang wouldn’t allow another director to film his scenes, not even some transition shots with the main cast,” Song Chi said. ”But in a way, that’s good; I looked at some raw cuts yesterday, and the outcomes are even better than I expected.”

Zhou Yun encouraged, ”Hang in there, work hard to win another Best Actor award.”

Song Chi, lowering his voice, said, ”Don’t talk about me. Director Kang told me that you could possibly aim for the Best Supporting Actress.”
