Song Chi never felt as formidable as the rumors suggested. Otherwise, why would Su Yan stay in the hospital under the guise of treatment and not return to the set?

They were acquainted with the staff at the hospital and knew that Su Yan merely had a minor skin injury that needed simple treatment.

There was no concussion whatsoever.

Yet Su Yan’s fans were furiously demanding, acting as if Song Chi had already become a major figure behind the scenes, colluding with the producers to bully Su Yan, this innocent little ’flower,’ not even ensuring her safety and arrogantly demanding her to return to the set as soon as she was hospitalized.

These rumors, whoever crafted them, seemed to be believed by many.

So far, the film crew indeed had not pressed Su Yan to return.

Kang Xin and Song Chi tacitly agreed, given the current situation, to let Su Yan be, which would help with the filming later.

Moreover, with Zhou Yun here, the production wouldn’t halt.

They prioritized Zhou Yun’s scenes, shooting from morning till night.

Zhou Yun said to Zhou Lan: ”I think I could finish filming earlier.”

Zhou Lan: ”That’s great, saving so much time. You might finish by the end of the year and catch the awards ceremonies and galas. Weibo has contacted me to schedule your attendance at this year’s grand festivities, even arranging an award for you.”

”What kind of award could it be? Either a Popularity Award or a Newcomer Award.” Zhou Yun was relatively new to the entertainment circle, but had been following it for many years, ”Meaningful awards are usually given to big celebrities.”

”That’s still a Weibo award! The exposure is massive, and, having good relations with them benefits you more than just an award could.” Zhou Lan said, ”Another thing, He Yong has brought over several scripts from Chengqian Film and Television, wanting you to star; I’ve accepted them, and will send them over to you to see which one you prefer.”

”Sister Lan, have you looked at them? How are they?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan said: ”They’re all not bad, and big productions. Nothing particularly spectacular, but they’re not the substandard stuff we used to get. I personally like one called ’Luoyan’ the most. It’s a fantasy genre, but it doesn’t involve the typical mentor-disciple love story that spans three lifetimes. It’s quite literary; the female protagonist is an incense maker who one day finds a dying man, takes him home to treat his injuries, but when he recovers, the first thing he does is try to kill her. I read the first ten episodes of the script, lots of twists and the story is very captivating. The person you think is the male lead isn’t, and someone you think is just a passerby becomes an important character.”

Zhou Yun, intrigued, said: ”That sounds quite interesting.”

”Yes, and this is an original script, written by a novelist.” Zhou Lan stated.

”I’ll take a good look at it then.”

Zhou Lan added, ”There are also several shows trying to get you. I haven’t decided yet, I’ll discuss with you when I come to the set.”

”When are you coming to the set?”

”This Thursday.” Zhou Lan said.

”Okay.”

”Oh, one more thing.” Zhou Lan suddenly remembered something and said: ”He Yong has been hinting around, asking about certain things recently, as if he’s worried you might leave the company, and he asked if you’ve been in contact with anyone.”

”He finally noticed, huh?” Zhou Yun said, ”A few days ago, Luo Zhiqiu from Zuo Jing came to me, offering a break fee to pry me away.”

Zhou Lan: ”Luo Zhiqiu? Did you agree?”

”How could I agree? But I think using this to remind He Yong is good. I’ve been under contract with the company for so long; he’s too complacent, not sensing any crisis, always getting me low-quality jobs. Luo Zhiqiu’s approach could serve as a wake-up call.”

Zhou Lan was momentarily lost for words.

Sometimes, she felt that Zhou Yun, a 23-year-old, thought more thoroughly than she did.

...

Staying on set to film is actually quite tedious.

Actors, unless they genuinely love acting and enjoy performing, would find it painful.

These days, all of Zhou Yun’s scenes were arranged back-to-back, from morning to evening.

The key reason for this scheduling was because they could only shoot three scenes here, and since Su Yan was in the hospital, her scenes couldn’t be shot, so they focused on filming Zhou Yun’s scenes first.
