Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 545: Chapter 543: Battlefield Ghost

”Ah Luo, what’s going on here?”

With a perplexed expression, Gu Xi immediately connected with Arroyo through the Eye of the Soul he just obtained.

This battle left him utterly baffled.

Wasn’t Arroyo already pushed back earlier? How did he suddenly charge forward?

At this moment, Arroyo excitedly said, ”Master, release the ghosts, they fear the ghosts.”

”How do you know that?”

Gu Xi looked puzzled.

”Master, the black ash of our Black Spear Camp has stabilized, and we’ve now developed some new moves.

What you just saw was one of them. Using the black ash, we can transform all the Undead Gunners into a ghost state, launching them forward in the strong wind.

Since this move isn’t very practiced, we haven’t used it in the past.

But I am certain, they fear ghosts.”

Upon hearing Arroyo’s judgment, Gu Xi immediately changed his attack method.

”Ghost Corps, understood, all Ghost Corps members, attack.”

Under Gu Xi’s order, a batch of ghosts descended from the sky.

However, this time when Gu Xi dispatched troops, the primary forces were still skeletons and zombies, with not many ghosts. As the ghosts swooped down, Gu Xi kept a close eye on the battlefield.

Once confirmed that ghosts were effective against these creatures called Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts, Gu Xi prepared to release the final city gate and deploy the ghost units inside.

Meanwhile, the first probing attack from the Skeleton Shooters and Skeleton Mages had already been launched.

Similar to the previous attacks from the Black Spear Camp, the rain of arrows from the Skeleton Shooters fell upon the Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts but had no effect. The arrows pierced them without eliciting any reaction.

Seeing this, Gu Xi pondered if it might be time to demote the Skeleton Shooters.

If not, they have no use on the battlefield, at most, they’re useful for cleanup.

At this moment, several Poison Gas Bombs struck the faces of some Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts, and their reactions revealed an issue to Gu Xi.

These Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts have high magic resistance to other attacks, but their poison resistance isn’t very evident.

Simultaneously, ghosts truly can counter them.

Upon discovering these points, Gu Xi immediately deployed the main city gate onto the battlefield.

While issuing orders to the city:

”Deploy all ghosts and Mist Corpse Witches for an attack!”

After giving this command, Gu Xi hesitated for a moment but finally said, ”Inform the Ghost Squad to come over; the cleanup work at the forefront can be left to the city’s skeletons.”

With Gu Xi’s orders, ghosts rapidly assembled within the main city gate, and a Ghost Squad, resembling White Impermanence, swiftly rushed from the rear.

However, before they arrived, the other Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts in the hall all stood up, picked up their weapons, pushed aside the food in front of them, and charged towards Gu Xi.

Unlike the portion of Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts that Gu Xi and his team barely managed to kill earlier,

these newly-risen Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts varied in height; the taller ones held large swords, hammers, and war axes, while the shorter ones carried swords and shields. Behind them, a group wielded bows and arrows.

Once gathered, they immediately charged towards Gu Xi.

Though their charge was chaotic, it posed a significant problem for Gu Xi.

”Bone Curtain!”

Gu Xi immediately cast the Bone Curtain.

As the move was unleashed, a sandstorm comprised of bone fragments appeared in front of Gu Xi.

The sandstorm was an enormous five meters thick. From afar, it looked like a massive white bone sphere, enveloping everything within a three hundred-meter radius around Gu Xi.

Those outside couldn’t see inside the Bone Curtain, while Gu Xi, inside, could clearly observe the outside world.

As the Bone Curtain arose, the Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts charged close, and the archers at the rear carelessly fired at the Bone Curtain.

Their arrows entered the Bone Curtain and were immediately shredded into fragments by the bones.

Following this probing attack, the Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts weren’t foolish; they turned their attacks towards the other undead.

Though disorganized, one had to admit that the Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts were incredibly strong in combat, easily overpowering Gu Xi’s undead forces.

A batch of undead quickly perished.

Amidst the chaos, as Arroyo mentioned, Gu Xi discovered that the Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts were indeed restrained by ghosts.

Their attacks were all physical, posing little threat to the ghosts.

All their attributes were focused on muscles, with no enhancement to their souls.

Attacking them in the soul aspect was the best approach.

When ghosts and these Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts clashed, a Level 5 ghost could match an Level 8 Evil Mutated Muscle Beast with equal casualties.

This situation presented an opportunity for Gu Xi.

If they’re afraid of ghosts, then bring more ghosts.

With the Bone Curtain’s protection, Gu Xi immediately raised the Cold Wind Staff, using the Soul Summoning Skill on the corpses of the fallen Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts.

Even without deploying the Soul Summoning Tower onto the battlefield,

Gu Xi’s current Soul Summoning Skill was already enhanced to 9+5, exceeding a 100% success rate.

Under his on-site summoning, the deceased Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts swiftly transformed into undead.

Gu Xi carefully controlled the direction of the undead summoning, avoiding the zombie route suitable for these Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts and converting them into ghosts instead.

Thus, a rather peculiar type of ghost appeared on the battlefield.

This kind of ghost, pearly and semi-transparent, was over five meters tall, all muscle-bound, with legs touching the ground. If not for their semi-transparent appearance, no one would believe they were ghosts.

[You used the Soul Summoning Skill successfully, obtaining a Battlefield Ghost (Level 4), 1 Soul Summoning Skill Experience point.]

[Battlefield Ghost (Level 4): Experience (0/750), Attack 8, Defense 6, Life 15, Skills: Horizontal Sweep Attack, Ghost Constitution, Spiritual Body Attack.]

With these Battlefield Ghosts appearing, the balance of victory began to tilt towards Gu Xi.

These Battlefield Ghosts were familiar with the weak spots of the Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts. Upon entering the battlefield, they charged directly at the Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts wielding swords in the front.

They were the leaders among the Evil Mutated Muscle Beasts, and only by taking them down could he control the pace of the battle.
