Once the environment around settled down, Gu Xi finally saw the situation before him clearly.

This was, unexpectedly, an enormous tunnel-like entrance, with a large amount of giganticized food sliding down from above the pipeline, and then further down the passageway.

Turning around for a glance, Gu Xi extended his hand, deploying the Garrison Gate to hold the closing door, leaving himself an escape route.

Then, Gu Xi released a troop, charging toward the food.

The force released by Gu Xi was one he had considered beforehand while approaching, the Bone Locusts.

The weakest insect swarm under Gu Xi, primarily focusing on devouring everything.

Faced with the situation, Gu Xi was somewhat uncertain if there was an issue with the food, and he didn’t know what the enemy might be like, uncertain if the enemy would change without cleaning up the food.

So, he chose the numerous Bone Locusts first to test the properties of the food.

If it didn’t work, Gu Xi also had the Wangyan Musician, whose summoned decaying rats could also consume large amounts of food.

In short, this round didn’t significantly impact Gu Xi.

After letting the Bone Locusts out, Gu Xi didn’t rush in but began deploying troops outward.

This situation was different from when Gu Xi was promoting, with too many uncertainties, and Gu Xi dared not commit all his main forces at once.

He only released Robbie’s Bone-Slaying Camp, plus parts of the Skeleton Soldier Squad and Zombie Squad to protect himself; as for the more powerful units, he had them wait at the Steel City Gate and Main City Gate, ready to be deployed when needed.

As Gu Xi prepared the troops, the Bone Locusts had already pounced on the food.

Just as Gu Xi expected, these locusts ate anything and were willing to eat anything.

Though they didn’t particularly like sweets, the food in front of them was bitten off in an instant.

But soon, the Bone Locusts that consumed the food started trembling vigorously in place, clearly affected by the food.

”Robbie, prepare for battle.”

Gu Xi said while closely observing the condition of these Bone Locusts.

Upon his command, all the Bone Locusts dispatched to feed exploded, with a mass of red hair sprouting from inside their bodies, transforming them into Red-Haired Locusts.

”It seems the food is toxic.”

Gu Xi quickly discerned the situation, sending out a new batch of Bone Locusts targeting the transformed Red-Haired Locusts.

As they mutated, these Red-Haired Locusts left Gu Xi’s ranks.

They reverted to the level of 1 attack, 1 defense, and 1 life point.

Unlike Gu Xi’s forces, which, even without Gu Xi’s enhancement, boasted attacks of 9, defense of 6, and life of 22, tantamount to a fourth-level unit.

The Bone Locusts pounced and devoured all the Red-Haired Locusts to death.

At this point, Gu Xi pointed at the Red-Haired Locust corpses and commanded, ”Devour them!”

The Bone Locusts, with no second thoughts, chewed and consumed the corpses on the spot.

This time, their bodies underwent some changes, but unlike prior Bone Locusts, they didn’t turn into Red-Haired Locusts, only the white bones covering them turned red.

Such changes were considered favorable; after devouring all the Red-Haired Locusts, Gu Xi directed these turned-red locusts, stating, ”Go up and eat!”

Under Gu Xi’s command, these locusts lunged forward again.

However, their fate was the same; after consuming the food, they immediately transformed into Red-Haired Locusts and began attacking Gu Xi.

At that moment, a new batch of Bone Locusts emerged, engaging in battle with the Red-Haired Locusts, repeating the process of devouring and transforming, then devouring again.

After several experiments, finally on the seventh attempt, a few Bone Locusts directly consuming the specific food were unaffected by the food’s power and were not turned into uncontrolled Red-Haired Locusts.

But because they had devoured so much food, the bone fragments covering these Bone Locusts had turned completely black.

Gu Xi stepped forward to take a look, and these Bone Locusts had completely turned into another kind of creature.

[Evil Bone Locust (Level 2): Attack 3, Defense 2, Life 3, Skills: Insect Swarm State, Devour All, Digesting Evil Power, Flying Team.]

It was accomplished.

Seeing the information of the Evil Bone Locusts before him, Gu Xi realized his thought was correct.

There were problems with these foods, but there were also solutions to the problems.

”Take action, devour all this food.”

With a wave of his hand, Gu Xi directed the Evil Bone Locusts to pounce on the food, and as they ate these foods, occasionally, some black granules dropped to the ground.

[Evil Qi Fragment (White): Treated evil qi fragment, can be used to enhance Demons, Evil Gods, Undead, Mechanical forces, or to transform buildings (Note: if used to enhance other Life Element forces, units will undergo an essential change).]

Reading this information, Gu Xi contemplated and then turned to a Skeleton Soldier, waving him over.

The Skeleton Soldier swiftly stood in front of Gu Xi.

Gu Xi flicked his finger, and the evil qi fragment shot into the Skeleton Soldier’s eye socket.

In the next second, the Skeleton Soldier’s bones turned from pale yellow to dark yellow, albeit with no significant quality change, suggesting that to fully enhance this, a large number of such evil qi fragments would be needed.

With that realization, Gu Xi stopped his actions and ordered to store the evil qi fragments.

He clearly understood this kind of thing wasn’t meant for enhancing cannon fodder like Skeleton Soldiers.

No matter how you enhance cannon fodder, of what use is it? This type of evil energy enhancement must be for strengthening powerful forces, like Corpse Witch or Bone Dragon, perhaps.

At this time, Gu Xi immediately thought of his Death Incarnation.

Oh, now it’s called Death Incarnation - Bone Dragon.

This evil qi fragment could provide comprehensive enhancement to his body, boosting its combat power.

Thinking of this, Gu Xi couldn’t help but wave his hand, dispatching Bone Locusts to handle it.

But Gu Xi quickly found something amiss.

The actual number of Bone Locusts wasn’t large, considering they came in swarms of three to five hundred per group, though appearing plenty.

However, previously due to the conversion to many Red-Haired Locusts, it seemed as though they hadn’t run out.

Gu Xi hadn’t paid close attention to the number of Bone Locusts initially.

With so many Bone Locusts flying out together, he couldn’t individually track them.

But now something was clearly off.

Gu Xi quickly queried, ”What happened, did the Abandoned Farmland deploy new troops? No, these Bone Locusts don’t quite resemble normal ones.”
