When Gu Xi awoke from the dream, he found himself already outside the thorny woods.

His city gates and troops had been brought out together.

If not for the thorns in the woods and the castle behind the woods being gone, Gu Xi would feel like everything was just a dream, as if it never happened.

Gu Xi flipped over and crawled up from the ground, pressing on his lower back, not feeling the usual soreness.

This situation made Gu Xi pause, wasn’t he supposed to be drained?

Why does it seem different?

He seemed to recall that the last moment he was conscious, he was about to be drained dry, and the woman pricked his thumb with the spindle needle and drew a mark on his forehead.

Then he couldn’t remember anything.

A puzzled Gu Xi lowered his head to check a large number of unread messages.

The top message clearly told Gu Xi that he had successfully promoted.

[Note: Your physical strength has fallen to the danger zone!]

[You have been tainted by the blood of the Thorn Golden Crown!]

[You have completed the job progression task: Thorn Golden Crown]

[Task description: Please find and wear the Thorn Golden Crown.]

[Task requirement: Find the legendary Thorn Golden Crown in the Studesstrup World and wear it on your head (completed)]

[Task success: Advance to the hidden profession of Death Witch Lord]

[Note: Completion rate 320%, additional rewards will be given.]

[You have advanced to the hidden profession of Death Witch Lord, you will choose one from the following three talents as your primary talent.]

[You have not made a choice yet, choice sealed.]

[Your body is damaged, your physical strength is depleting massively, you need means to replenish physical strength, should assistance be provided for talent selection.]

[Alternative method discovered, Mysterious Academy reward clone.]

[Autonomous clone chosen, Fitness Skill chosen and complete!]

[Fitness Skill clone formed, physical strength replenished!]

[...]

Looking at the series of popped-up messages, Gu Xi finally understood what happened.

So the real Thorn Golden Crown was that spinning wheel, he was tricked?

Reflecting on the feeling of being drained, Gu Xi still shook his head, forget it.

Fortunately this time, a clone obtained from the position of Dean at the Mysterious Academy saved his life.

If he didn’t have a new clone, he feared he wouldn’t have survived such strong suction.

Unlike now, where he can run and jump naturally, indifferent to trivial consumption.

Going back in again, forget it.

Gu Xi shook his head, let go of everything in his mind, and called out decisively.

”Clone!?”

As soon as Gu Xi’s words ended, a figure emerged from his body and stood opposite him.

Looking at the figure standing dazed in front of him, Gu Xi realized what the clone situation was.

Apparently, clones aren’t what Gu Xi initially thought, where a person can have many clones to do multiple things at once.

Nor is it where one person has many clones to juggle multiple professions.

Or even using different clones to play different roles.

All this is incorrect.

A clone is actually like the Earth-bound Deceitful Dragon’s Water Flow Clone and Mirror Image Clone with different paths, having extreme enhancements.

Just like the clone dazed in front of Gu Xi, he is also an Undead Mage.

No, after Level 5, he is also a Death Witch Lord.

Except he is strengthened in terms of physical strength, and might specialize in physical strength in the future.

Normally, he is housed within Gu Xi’s body, not showing or revealing physical strength specialization.

When needed, Gu Xi can switch clones, using the specialized clone to handle things seemingly impossible.

Just like in the prior battle, Gu Xi was nearly drained dry, but with clone’s support, it wasn’t Gu Xi who was drained dry.

Understanding this, Gu Xi stepped forward, and the clone returned to his body.

Then Gu Xi switched thoughts to the Fitness Skill clone state, feeling his muscles rapidly swelling, his once bony arm now as thick as a normal person’s thigh.

His power was noticeably boosted, and now if asked to throw something, it would definitely go farther than before.

[Mysterious Clone (Fitness Skill): Power rewards from the Mysterious Academy, a clone based on Fitness Skill, capable of multiple modes: Associated State, Switch State, and Consumption State.]

[Associated State: Clone associated with the main body, main body masters Fitness Skill Level 1, increase power by 2 points, constitution by 2 points, life by 20 points.]

[Switch State: Switch to external use of the clone, clone masters Fitness Skill Level 3, increase power by 12 points, constitution by 12 points, life by 320 points.]

[Consumption State: Abandon control of the clone, use it as consumable or convert it into subordinate, clone Fitness Skill upgraded to Level 5, power increased to 24 points, constitution to 24 points, life force increased by 640 points, gaining all combat power of the main body level, consumption causes the clone to detach from any relation to the main body, this clone disappears.]

After switching twice, Gu Xi knew the situation with the clone present, and he didn’t plan to play further, at this time Gu Xi shifted his focus back to crucial matters.

He has reached Level 5, hasn’t reviewed his profession situation, talent hasn’t been selected, level-up rewards and skills haven’t been chosen.

Playing with clones here isn’t entertaining.

Stowing the clone away, Gu Xi immediately returned his attention to the system prompt.

Gu Xi found that talents were given by the profession, while skills were provided after leveling up.

The two are independent.

Now as Gu Xi looked again, previous prompts reappeared for Gu Xi to choose again.

[You have advanced to the hidden profession Death Witch Lord, you will choose one from the following three talents as your primary talent.]

[Crown of Fear: Among the Three Divine Skills, you focus on Death Lord ability, in all the Undead’s eyes, you are the Emperor of terror, the Undead will create a crown for you from their bones.

All Undead joining your ranks influenced by Death Lord ability gain +1 Undead Level (effect increases with player level!)]

[Slaughter Death Intent: Among the Three Divine Skills, you focus on Death Incarnation ability, Death Incarnation during battle can have comprehensive enhancement.

Death Incarnation Level increases to player level +12, and attack power doubles (effect increases with player level!)]

[Double Death: Among the Three Divine Skills, you focus on Death City ability, when enemies die, Death City has already inducted them, you can later summon on the battlefield with Soul Summoning Skill, facing you, the enemy dies twice.

Upon killing enemies, all will automatically convert to Undead, appearing in Death City, conversion effect equivalent to Death Decree effect (doesn’t affect subsequent summoning on enemy corpses!)]

Looking at the three different talents, Gu Xi finally understood why Eldest Princess Anna insisted he learn Death Decree.

And why she wanted him to choose Double Death as the talent.

Turns out her focus was placed here.

Double Death is currently the sole method for large-scale reinforcement to Yalidu City.

As for the other two talents, which seem decent, Gu Xi hesitated a bit and ultimately abandoned them.

”I choose Double Death!”
