Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 536: Chapter 534: The First Wave of Enemies

Gu Xi reached out and grabbed a Bone Locust, turning it over a few times, and suddenly understood the reason behind it.

These Bone Locusts were not produced from the abandoned farmland.

They were originally Red-Haired Locusts, influenced by evil energy, and after dying in battle, they no longer belonged to Gu Xi’s forces. Thus, they became part of the enemy, affected by Gu Xi’s talent of Double Death, appearing in Yalidu City.

Being relatively unique corpses, locusts, due to their small size, cannot transform into Skeletons; they eventually revert back to Bone Locusts.

As long as the Red-Haired Locusts keep dying, Gu Xi’s Bone Locust numbers won’t dwindle.

Gu Xi’s judgment wasn’t based on any distinct information left by the locusts during their transformation.

He recognized the marks on these locusts, marks of the Death Decree, signaling to Chen Gu how these Undead came about.

Understanding this, Gu Xi no longer cared about the number of Bone Locusts. After all, new ones would replace the Red-Haired Locusts upon being killed.

Transforming into Evil Bone Locusts allows them to devour everything, yielding benefits to Gu Xi in whatever form the mutation takes.

So Gu Xi decisively released all the Bone Locusts, letting them batter the food repeatedly, while he led his forces past untamed food towards the back.

After traveling over three thousand meters, Gu Xi and his team, behind these food mountains, encountered the first batch of enemies since entering the Evil God Hall.

These enemies were evidently humans who had overeaten, their bodies as round as balls, covered entirely in red hair.

As Gu Xi led his forces into the area, they all turned towards him.

Despite noticing Gu Xi’s arrival, the movements of their hands did not cease, continuing to gorge on various candies ravenously.

It seemed that stopping would bring some terrible event.

Facing such a situation, Gu Xi sighed.

”Why do I always encounter such bizarre enemies? Can’t we have some decent opponents for once?”

Gu Xi remarked while commanding his troops to advance.

The Skeleton Soldiers charged first, as Gu Xi needed to test the combat power of these peculiar human balls.

Just as Gu Xi’s forces began charging, the Red-Haired Man Balls began rolling, their red hair waving. From afar, they resembled red porcupines being thrown.

They rolled quickly, colliding with the Skeleton Soldiers in an instant.

When they hit the Skeleton Soldiers, the latter managed only a single slash with their weapons on the Red-Haired Man Balls.

These Red-Haired Man Balls rolled with nearly the speed of a Knight’s charge. The Skeleton Soldiers were knocked away after just one slash.

Their slash merely shaved some red hair, barely harming the enemy.

Instead, the Skeletal warriors, knocked away, were crushed and shattered by these Red-Haired Man Balls.

Observing this scene, Gu Xi made a decisive command: ”Zombie Corps forward, form a defense, Skeleton Shooters and Skeleton Mages prepare.

Misfortune Skeletons, ready for action.”

Under Gu Xi’s orders, the Zombie Corps quickly shielded the Skeleton Shooters and Skeleton Mages.

Their primary role was to protect the ranged units; Gu Xi’s personal safety was by contrast not of immediate concern, flanked by several Maze Devourers, a giant Skeleton, and a Ghost Dragon behind him.

This was Gu Xi’s formidable power on display, capable of thwarting any surprise attacks during this stage.

Skeleton Shooters and Skeleton Mages commenced their actions simultaneously.

The Skeleton Shooters launched the initial assault, planting arrows into the Red-Haired Man Balls.

To Gu Xi’s surprise, these Red-Haired Man Balls seemed indifferent to the arrows, continuing their relentless roll towards Gu Xi’s battle array.

Gu Xi intervened against the Red-Haired Man Balls for the first time.

He employed the Wraith Whiskers spell.

Though only at level 3, Wraith Whiskers expanded the affected area significantly.

Gu Xi released a single Wraith Whiskers, creating a five-meter broad, thirty-five-meter long barrier of tentacles and limbs.

Where ordinary soldiers might evade or jump over the obstacle, these Red-Haired Man Balls, rolling straight along the path of Wraith Whiskers, could not.

The first wave of rolling Red-Haired Man Balls was grabbed by the tentacles, coming to a halt.

Despite this, the following Red-Haired Man Balls didn’t stop, colliding together like billiard balls, echoing with thumping noises.

Taking advantage of this, all the Skeleton Mages launched their best spells.

Besides basic spells, these Skeleton Mages had learned Mana Extraction and Slowdown Skill.

In this setup of Wraith Whiskers, they didn’t use Slowdown Skill, instantly switching to their best attack magic: Fireball Skill, Ice Arrow Skill, Poison Gas Bomb, even some casting Lightning Arrow.

Gu Xi observed closely, noting the hairy creatures resisted flames well and tolerated poison gas fairly.

But they had poor Magic Resistance to cold spells; despite their stout bodies and thick hair, a cold wind could freeze them instantly.

Upon discovering this, Gu Xi prepared a Bone Storm, ready to unleash should the Skeleton Mages fail to fend off the enemy attack.

Just then, the Lightning Arrows cast by several Skeleton Mages converged, forming a Lightning Chain striking a Red-Haired Man Ball.

The impact exploded the Red-Haired Man Ball.

Brown sludge resembling chocolate splattered everywhere, driving the remaining Red-Haired Man Balls into a frenzy.
